A thread kind of in the same vein as the one I made yesterday, and kinda inspired by @BilboBaggins365 saying he likes maple syrup along with some maple syrup-flavored food. So, think of the food or recipes from your country or culture. Is it stuff that you actually appreciate, or maybe only find okay? Or have you always been reluctant to eat some of it? Which is it?

Yes, I love the food where I'm from.

I wish there were restaurants near where I live. The only one available is miles and miles away.

I've come to realise that I've tried a lot and like them in varying degrees.
found this helpful pic that I marked instead of typing it all out.

I hate crumpets, they just taste like sponges. Me mum used to make us bubble & squeak and although it went down, it wasn't without a fight.

I've never seen let alone tried beef wellington or jellied eels, but they look fucking disgusting.

Both yes and no. I'm not a fan of the traditional dishes belonging to my community which my mother cooks at home mostly because majority of the dishes have coconut in them and I hate the rough texture of coconut. On the other hand I love dishes from other regions of the country which I've had in restaurants, unfortunately I don't know how to cook them and based on tutorials it's a pretty lengthy process. Having lots of vegetarian options without using fake meat is the best part of food here.

I'm not the biggest fan of traditional food in general. I'm trying to have a healthy diet so I mostly eat chicken , pasta , potatoes and rice for the main meals .

I don't avoid cultural food out of rebellion, I choose what fuels me best.
I read ingredient labels thoroughly.
I’ve mastered the art of saying “No thanks” to sugar and deep-fried nostalgia.
Many traditional dishes in rich culinary cultures are loaded with oil, sugar, salt, or carbs. But they don't aligned with my clean-eating philosophy..
I've never even had alcohol in my life, I'm allergic to toxins.

My country is a union of very different traditional communities with own cuisine, and I love some of our food, yes. Wouldn't call Currywurst and Kebab a pinnacle of it though, haha.

I think I like most of the food from here or otherwise associated with here but originating elsewhere. Well though there is some Southern food that seems unappetizing like chitlins

I like it, delicious food but it's horrible for you.

Like soul food or churches chicken.

I've never seen let alone tried beef wellington or jellied eels, but they look fucking disgusting.

Im surprised black pudding tastes kind of good or at least alright. I have really been wanting to try Scotch eggs but not cold though not a fan of cold eggs.

How did you eat the crumpets? I havent had a crumpet but have had English muffins (aka over there toaster crumpets aka American crumpets) which I like loaded with butter and cinnamon sugar or with lemon curd. Looking at pictures and descriptions Welsh and Scottish crumpets seem pretty different too.

Also wait chicken tikka masala was invented in the UK. I didnt know that. Thought it was India since it is always associated with Indian food.

@traed I think it's the thought of what it's made of is subconsciously off-putting, but like with haggis, I found it surprisingly good.

Ah it's been a while, but I think just warmed with butter is how I have crumpets. I think it was pretty much tasteless but I really hated the texture of it, and probably the smell too, although I've probably smelt worser foods.

Ah yeah no that one was invented in Britain. It's not really my most favourite curry dish though, it's okay but prefer spicier ones 🔥

there are alright parts of Czech cuisine but not much. Its probably better than Polish, German and prison food. Best parts of our cuisine is what we got from the Magyars and then also goose.

@Little_Sheepling What in the hell is next to haggis 💀 I've never seen that before, I thought it just meant cigarette for British people😭

Anyway, I said this in another thread but I don't like Vegemite very much (but it's okay with cheese).

As an Asian American, I am 88% Filipino (verified by a DNA test) and I am not fond of eating it? I just simply grew up consuming food of this culture to where I have grown tired of it and seek to immerse in other cuisines
