The 12th and final episode of Watashi ga Koibito ni Nareru Wake Nai jan, Muri Muri! (※Muri ja Nakatta!?) (There's No Freaking Way I'll be Your Lover! Unless...) ended with an announcement on Tuesday that the anime will receive a five-episode sequel.

Ahead of the television broadcast, a special edit of the sequel episodes will premiere in theaters in Japan on November 21 under the subtitle Next Shine. The sequel will adapt the fourth volume of Teren Mikami's school girls love light novel. The official website also revealed a key visual (pictured) and teaser trailer for the theatrical re-edit.

Produced by studio MOTHER, the television anime debuted on July 8. REMOW streamed the anime on It's Anime YouTube channel with subtitles in multiple languages.

Mikami began penning the original light novel, also known by its short title Watanare, under the Dash x Bunko imprint in February 2020, featuring illustrations by Eku Takeshima (Sasayaku You ni Koi wo Utau). Shueisha published the seventh volume in December 2024, with the eighth volume going on sale on September 25.

Musshu (Hana wa Saku, Shura no Gotoku) began drawing a manga adaptation on the Suiyoubi wa Mattari Dash X Comic website in May 2020. Shueisha released the eighth volume on June 18.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed both the light novel and manga in English in May 2022. The sixth light novel volume went on sale on February 11, with the seventh volume planned for a December 23 release. The seventh manga volume shipped on June 24.

Synopsis
"I want to learn to love myself—just the way I am!"

Renako Amaori, a former gloomy and socially awkward girl, reinvented herself for high school and successfully made her debut. She even managed to join the top-tier popular group... only to be suddenly confessed to by two of its brightest stars?! One is the school's ultimate prince, Mai Ouzuka. The other, the beloved angel of the campus, Ajisai Sena. There's no way she can handle both their affections—no freaking way!

While still struggling to give them an answer, Renako agrees to help her friend Kaho by joining a cosplay event. It's the perfect excuse to delay her reply... or so she thought. But as she witnesses Kaho's passion firsthand, something begins to stir inside her.

What is it that she truly wants? What is she truly searching for? Can she really not become someone's lover? Or has that "no freaking way"... not been so impossible after all? (Source: REMOW, edited)

@Budrion end of LN vol.4 is a good place to stop for now. Adapting it at the beginning of potential next season would look odd.
