Like I'm watching Apothecary Diaries, and Jinshi is constantly described as beautiful, but he honestly just has an awkwardly feminine design, and I absolutely don't get it, not that I'm the target audience as a straight man, but this whole discussion confuses me to no end... Also I wonder what popular character trope do men take for granted that women find weird? |

[And not every bishounen is feminine mind you, I will just focus on it, as you brought it up] I noticed my attraction to them while I was watching my 1st anime Fairy Tail and when Midnight came onto the screen... well I was done for haha |

| Another person who has never looked at the top 50 list. It's definitely changed in the past few months... there are way more females there now than I've ever seen before. But I've seen it where 48 out of the 50 were male, and the majority of them still appear to be bishounen. |
| "Are bishounen characters actually popular among women?" A hundred percent shure. Since I’m in my late 20s, I tend to prefer bishounen material from familiar, older shows. But don’t get me wrong, it’s not only about feminine boys. There are plenty of female characters who resemble boys and fit into this category as well. For example, Sailor Uranus looked very manly in her first appearance, but later on they usually drew her very female, just a girl wearing a guy’s school uniform.   And then there’s Rei from Oniisama e…—a beauty.   Of course, finding attractive male characters has never been difficult, even nowadays. We have characters like Yuki and Luka from The Betrayal Knows My Name and Jinshi from The Apothecary Diaries, to name just a few. |
| Well, female gaze is much different than male gaze in terms of looks. I have noticed that the majority of women tend to prefer feminine and pretty boys, usually depicated as slim but toned whereas men often worship the hypermasculine and muscular figures like Iskandar from Fate or the Dragonball characters, Guts, Roronoa Zoro, etc. |
