As they say in french, "un coup de foudre". Struck by lightning. And I don't necessarily mean "at first sight" literally, but rather, in less than an hour.

Some might dismiss it as a purely physical attraction, but I think that's neglecting many signs. How someone talks to others, how they hold themselves, the way they smile, physical signs like tan or hands that might indicate a taste/distatste for outdoors activities, etc... I believe it's possible to know if someone's a good match very quickly if you meet the right person. Do you agree? Did it ever happen to you? Was it mutual? Share your experiences with us.

Disclaimer: this thread was absolutely not inspired by meeting an adorable woman during a 15 mins train trip while coming back from the harvest. Any resemblance to actual events, locales, or persons is coincidental.

It's never happened to me. I usually have to get to know a girl first in order for me to start feeling that way.

Does falling in love at the first sight of someone’s forum posts count?

"Have we not eaten while another starved? Will you punish us for that? Will you reward us for the virtue of starving while others ate? No man earns punishment, no man earns reward. Free your mind of the idea of deserving, the idea of earning, and you will begin to be able to think.”

@PeripheralVision Well, if it's a very big one like mine, and you're shallow like that... Yes, I guess it counts 😏

I've never experienced it myself I'm more into personality than looks in my opinion , looks can be deceiving there's some people who are good looking physically but have an ugly personality once you get to know them and vice versa. In order for me to "fall in love" I'd have to get to know them first. There's time I've acknowledged a person from afar and I'd say "oh wow he's handsome" but not fell in love, I'm just admiring his looks but I don't know what he's like behind close door so I find it impossible (for me anyways) to fall in love at first sight. Unless God, with His sense of humour, make that happen idk

@Deathko I think it was after , unfortunately she wasn't able to see my birth , i will ask my mom how old i was when i've seen my aunt for the first time but , j'ai l'impression que le coup de foudre arrive davantage aux hommes qu'aux femmes , j'avais vu plusieurs articles à ce sujet auparavant.

Depends if physical attraction counts as love or not.

Not necessarily at first sight, but you can find out whether someone could be a potentially good match at first smell if and when they get close enough

No. Especially after that tragic episode in elementary school.

I respect your opinion as long as you respect mine.

Well kinda. When I saw my partner profile on Tinder I had a feeling that this might be it. Then we talked for days nonstop and almost 5 years later now we have a house and plan on getting married with kids in the future. I want to grow old and wrinkly with him

Not love at first sight but love on the first date and a gut feeling from the start

That is whatI think too. You can't see personality in a glance unless you are refering to the melons. Lol

Wise words, body scent is very undermentioned, even though it's a make-or-break factor.

Thanks, it's one of the things people might only get to know after living for some while together, given the tendencies of the modern population to hide their natural smells

When i was 19 i was so disappointed with relations that i didn't care about women at all. Forward 3 years,January of a year very long gone lol, while walking to a theater i've met a friend who had the most gorgeous woman in the world at his side. Needless to say my heart skipped a bit and i still remember her coat and her dress not her face tho. This reaction got me very intrigued so about a month later i delved into a new relation. Needless to say if i haven's seen her i would have spent several decades of my life without approaching a woman.

This was mostly a falling in love with love kind of moment.

Sort of. Saw this girl in class and thought she was cute. Ended up asking her out, and fast forward a couple years, we're... not on the *best* terms. Oh well.

No, we've talked about this. There's no "love" at first sight - you are just having a crush.

15 minutes on the train, dude? Like, please. That's not even a crush, just a regular "wow, she's hot" moment. There was this girl once... the first time I met her, she was holding a dramatic speech in front of this large crowd during some social event, and I thought she was a goddess in human form... well, her form was divine too if I have to be absolutely honest. Like... you guys have probably heard the term "10/10" when it comes to attractiveness? It clearly wasn't made for that girl because she was 11/10 to me, prettiest woman I've seen. I still even remember her entire speech and that was like 9 years ago. Anyway, so "love at first sight," you could call it, or "starstruck," blah-blah. It took me like 4 mutual friends and 2 or 3 months to actually gather the courage to talk to her and another 2 to start dating, throughout which not only it felt as if I loved her but also as if the Universe didn't have any meaning without her. And even more shocking to me was that our feelings turned out to be mutual.

But sadly, these were my happiest moments with that person, cause a few months after we got together, we could barely stand each other being in the same room. Meanwhile, you meet this other girl, the first impression of whom was that she didn't have a single cell in her body that wasn't annoying, and 6 years later you are still thinking about her full of regret.

So no... first sight is not reliable at all.

Yeah, it happened. Once I fell in love with a woman just because I heard her voice. Then I liked her looks too and her personality. Sad to say she was straight but it's fine. /shrugs

Once... To a girl I use to work with! I lacked the courage to tell her how I felt. So I watched her from afar be happy with someone else ..

That's not a thing, that's just infatuation

You can't see someone's whole personality at a glance (unless we're talking stereotypes)
