Yeah, pretty much what the title says. Two come to Mind for me: Season 2 of Hell Girl, the Final Episode. Yeah, I didn't see THAT coming. I suppose it's meant to be Japanese and for the good of the Community or something. But she had been actively protecting him. Well, she damned herself too, anyway.
The Anime' Finale of Highero. Diverged completely from the Manga & quite frankly, is like the worst possible outcome I could imagine. Putting this emotionally damaged girl back in the environment that nearly destroys her to begin with. What the Hell?
Any others come to mind?

For me it's these ones, some the ending completly wrecks the vibe of the whole show, others it's just like "ok... that happened"

- Orb
- Clannad After Story
- Code Geass Rozé Of The Resurrection
- Cyberpunk
- The Count Of Montecristo
- Given movie 2
- Noir
- Planetes
- Takopi's Original Sin

The final episode of Highschool of the dead is offensively bad. I do not care for their "reasoning" at all.

@Rally- I think it was "We ran out of MONEY for EVA" Honestly. He always did want the Mind Games though. They are still there in EoE. I own a copy, and it basically shows a lot of what the Show talked about.

I'm ambivalent about the end of Noir to this Day. Cannot say if I like or dislike it. It's basically they both survived & escaped Les Soldats Mind Games for NOW so a happy ending???? LOL

Neon Genesis Evangelion's last couple episodes were a bit disappoint and frankly confusing to me compared to the rest of the show which was great

Monster's last episode was also a bit underwheling when i watched it for the first time, although i did realize what the point of the episode was when i rewatched Monster

I mean, the issues that made the last episode a disappointment had already been evident through the backend of the show before that point, but were still getting covered up by the strength of the source material. The final episode was pretty much the one that you're like, "Oh, is that it?"

There is no such anime maybe you mean Gankutsuou, which is not a direct adaptation of The Count Of Monte Cristo.

@Briekimchi I heard that is because Anno left the project before it finished. Or maybe the problems came from him? I don't know, somehow I missed this one.

@Sheol01 Definitely one of the major problems. Budget and a lack of support for the project from the mangaka also not helping.

Probably Wonder Egg Priority. The last couple of episodes before the TV special they released months later were chaotic but that was part of the charm of the show and it still had every bit of the essence of the storyI loved so much. The ending they tried to give it with the TV special felt like they just needed to throw shit together in order to finish the story. Due to some plot related things they made a lot of the journey feel kind of useless and it really was very non sensical overall.

@DarkFirefly72 I heard some darker things about this one. Never finished it, but if I do, I'll entirely skip the very last episode. The last episode was MEANT to sabotage the ENTIRE thing.
( I had to edit this, my thought came out almost incoherent).

@JoeChip I know it's not a direct adaptation, it's still heavily based on it and shares the same name

A lot but the worst offender I can think of was Blue Submarine No.6
It's a 4 episode OVA. 3 of the episodes are pretty good, it was definitely weird and the sea characters seemed a little off, but I was enjoying it and wondered why it was forgotten and obscure.

Then the 4th episode happened and crikey now I know. Don't watch it to find out- it's bad. I can't unsee what was seen.

@SuperAdventure I tried re-watching it some months ago, but I had forgotten how bad the CGI is. I didn't even make it a full two episodes this time. I guess time & seeing much improved usage of CGI has me too jaded to watch something from this period. I won't be making it to Episode 4 unless morbid curiosity compels me to do it! ROFLOL

Haganai season 2. There's no way that's how the show was supposed to end.

Akame Ga Kill strayed pretty far off from the manga in the final episodes. The anime kills off everyone in Night Raid except Akame and Najenda, when in the manga, Tatsumi and Mine also survive. I'm pretty sure Kurome survives in the manga as well and marries Wave.

I enjoyed Darling in the Franxx, AoT, MHA, Tokyo Ghoul till it got ruined with the ending. The endings of Franxx, MHA and AoT, completely ruined my enjoyment.

Claymore also let me down. Really, I think the Anime' planned on a 2nd Season that never came, but I know that ending enraged the Manga readers for sure.

@Briekimchi Perfect answer. I don't think I've ever seen an anime with such a non-ending. The production didn't help as well, but it was just so... nothing. The last episode could just as easily been episode 12, 18 or whatever and it would of felt the same. Obviously finishing before the manga did make it a bit awkward, but I feel other shows have done it well, like Beck for example. I still loved the show, but His and Her Circumstances is an all timer shoujo that it'd be hard to mess it up.

Another for me was Phantom Requiem for the Phantom mainly because I just have a preference for more positive, happy endings, but even that aside the ending just felt like it made the series a waste to watch. And a weird one that has always stood out to me is Lamune because we go from a pretty normal romance drama to an over the top melo drama out of no where in the last episode.

@vault-dweller If I have it correctly, that last one is actually from a VN that has 3 different routes, which the Anime' took up in part, so that may have confused the Anime' only watchers. I've never finished this one, so I cannot say.
