Aniplex Announces 'Grow Up Show: Himawari no Circus-dan' Original Anime Project for 2026

Production company Aniplex opened an official website for an original anime project between A-1 Pictures and Psyde Kick Studio on Monday, revealing the main staff, a teaser visual (pictured above), and an announcement promo. The anime series, titled Grow Up Show: Himawari no Circus-dan, is scheduled to premiere in 2026.

Psyde Kick Studio was established by A-1 Pictures with the aim of fostering greater freedom and originality in creative expression, drawing on the expertise that the company has built over the years. The label seeks to uncover new opportunities in animation without the constraints of established frameworks.

I know companies want to get advantage of trends and this case the ''original anime'' trend but I genuinely think it is sad to see that studios and especially studios like A-1 Pictures filling their production schedules with anime that have an extremely high risk to fail when there are hundreds and hundreds of well written stories from manga, light novels etc or even games with established fan bases waiting to be made into anime TV series movies etc.

lol lies its the same with how cloverworks initially was made and split with a1 studio too, they say its to make its own identity and look at how identical the anime shows of a1 and cloverworks now and all anime adaptations too

if i have to guess the reason they are making this is to give some sense of autonomy to the burn out staff of some on a1 studios again so giving them their own studio give them that sense of freedom but only temporarily once aniplex starts giving them more anime projects in the future too like how they overloaded with work a1 studio and cloverworks are right now

@Yubisoft A1 pictures bought 2 animation studios, I think one of them will be in charge of this original anime, although A1 pictures original will surely help a little.
