I started watching Attack on Titan around 2020, and honestly, I kind of liked it. Now, I know some people might hate me for saying this, but from my perspective, the ending just didn’t land. I get that everyone has their own opinion, and that’s totally normal. So, what do you all think about the ending of AOT?

Very bad for many reasons, specially because it was too rushed. It couldn't be a good conclusion to what all those previous 87 episode have built up

I honestly enjoyed the ending as it‘s reasonable and really makes sense if you really try to analize the character of Eren, why he did that and why he failed etc.

"NO! I DONT WANT THAT, GIVE ME ATLEAST 10 YEARS TO THINK ABOUT THE ENDING!!!!"

Pretty indifferent to it but the memes are good, amazing how Reiner is treated as an ahole by the alliance at the start, but hey Annie has suffered enough right? Levi shouldve done what he said to her when she was trapped--Limbs off at the joints!

The ending fits the show to 100%, because it perfectly aligns with the core themes of AOT throughout the show, which are freedom, the cycle of hatred, the cost of war and the burden of choices.

It's a reasonable ending, so I liked it.

I still dislike it. I always prefer characterization over ideological nonsense. I get it, the ending made sense, but throwing away your entire narrative for a message is not the right way to portray it imo.

I really hope the author of Vinland doesn't do the same in the final chapter.

They wanted a happy ending where Eren turned into a dove, kissed Mikasa and opened a bakery with Armin. Maybe Levi could’ve started a cleaning business and the titans could’ve formed a boy band. After all, it was such a lighthearted show, just a little series about mass extinction, child soldiers and watching your mom get eaten in 4K.

The ending was very good according to me, not going into details as that would make it so long no one would read it. Ending was 9/10 to me. Overall series I would say 10/10.

For argument if I agree that code geass ending is 10/10, that still couldn't convinced me to give the series a 10/10 rating.

What I'm saying that even some people hated the ending that could very hardly nullify the greatness the series as a whole achieved. At the end of the day I've rated the whole series in IMDb 10/10.

I personally enjoyed the ending with a few mixed points. The biggest being the introduction of a future vision ability attached to the attack titan. It seemed like that could have been introduced/hinted a little bit better early on.But I did enjoy the overall themes of war and isolation. Its one off those endings that I think people will be looking back on like neon genesis and having further discussions on.

Eren said from the start he’d wipe out the titans and in the end, he does exactly that. The whole series was about freedom and the cost of achieving it. The ending didn’t throw away the narrative, it wrapped it up in a painful but meaningful way. It stayed true to Eren’s character and the themes the show always had.

When I first saw the anime ending, I really hated Isayama for what he did... It took me a year to get over it LOL but now with hindsight and a review, I'm happy with what he did. It seems to me to be a good choice from my point of view even if I understand that one can be average or not like it. On the other hand, today, I would even agree with him if he had written the ending he originally wanted which is even darker. But if I had seen this alternative ending at the time, I think it would have taken me more than a year to get over it LOL

The ending is just perfect.

Not all stories end with the glittering effects happy ending, some are just the Peaks with tragic or uncertain endings.

PEAK FICTION.

I’ve always maintained the position of the more mythos AOT introduced, the worse it got… because the mythos (and story) ultimately made no sense. However I love Season 1, I think it’s one of the best seasons of television ever produced

I'm not going to say that I liked the ending completely, because I felt it was bitter, but I think that the meaning of the ending is to feel it bitter, that the cycle will repeat itself once more, or that's what I felt with the scene of the dog and the child.

I'm interested to know why you didn't think it landed or why you didn't like it. I'm not asking to have a debate or to try to convince you that it is good (personally, I liked it), but I'm genuinely curious about the other point of view, so your input is appreciated, feel free to elaborate.

Might as well go along w/ Zeke's Eldian Euthanasia plan because it removes all titan powers? No, he didnt because that's not where all his motivation comes from.

for me its good ending, but people maybe hate the ending because you know the episode is too long for release, i remember its become meme about FINAL part because its FINAL and then there is another FINAL episode but need waiting years and another FINAL episode and waiting again, many fans angry about that FINAL episode because too long waiting the PEAK moments and then destroy the PEAK mood from the fans and many hate with the ending.

I thought it was alright. The core message of the show wasn’t delivered in the ending but rather throughout the show.

The main issue people have with it is that there are better endings out there, but if you can accept aot to not be perfect for a moment then it’s an fine ending just not one that delivers much to what the theme was all about in the first place.

Thats not why people hate the ending, the memes and all are great but doesn't change the fact that many manga readers were pretty dissatisfied w/ the ending.

Eren wanted to exterminate all the titans but also wanted to be free and hated the idea of seeing people in cages and being caged himself, he was always ready to do anything to defend his vision of freedom even if it meant getting into trouble or killing those who opposed it. It would have been contrary to Eren's character if suddenly he who was ready to kill adults at 9yo meekly accepted Zeke's plan which literally means, give up the future you've fought for.
