| Detective Conan & Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo are probably what you need. The former has Sci-fi elements for its Main plotline tho, and the cases gets much less gore and more light hearted after the first few hundred Episodes. You can just watch a few episodes at a time. But yes, if what you want is Whodunits mysteries, with an atmosphere sometimes a little bit macabre, where it's really challenging to uncover the truth before the reveals, then these 2 are exactly what you search for. |

| @Shabo-kun Seems like you haven't watched Pluto yet. It's from Monster's author. There are murders, investigating, and dark atmosphere. Although it does have "crazy physical superpowers" since there's futuristic setting and main cast are robots. It's not too long so you might give it a try. |
