For reference seasons 1 and 2 sold 10k blu rays. This means this spinoff had almost a 95% crash in revenue. Taking into account marketing based off of season 1 and 2 sales, this makes the spinoff probably kadokawa's biggest flop of all time. The sales were so bad they had to re-release season 1 and 2 blu rays. As well as old figures.

First 2 seasons had a 4.5 star while this season has a 3.5 star on Amazon Japan. This show tell out of trending and corner polls top 10 by week 3.

Before this season aired, it was the most hyped show behind demon slayer and oshi no ko.

As someone who loved konosuba s1 2, and even gave the movie a 10, the megumin spinoff was really not for me. After episode 7 I dropped the spinoff. It has a way more tame style of comedy than the og series. Kind of reminds me of hayate no gotoku cuties spinoff in how much changed.

Was cuties a spinoff? I thought it was a sequel, but they skipped a lot of material between cuties and the prequel released right before that one.

As someone who was fond of S1 and S2, the spin-off was meh. It was still likable but it was mostly tiring for me.

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Something felt missing in the spin-off. You have recognizable characters but a disconnect between the heart of the main series. I forced myself to finish and despite holding low expectations, was still disappointed.

I enjoyed it and gave it a 10/10 but it's more on the side of serious drama as where the main series is more on the side of unhinged comedy. Both have their merits for quite different reasons.

Tbh megumin is probably the least interesting character from the main 4 and to have an entire anime series for her backstory was cool but it was obvious that this show simply will never reach the high and popularity of the original series.

it was just surprisingly boring, the potentially interesting school setting was abandoned early, then nothing much happened and the rivalry with YunYun did not feel nearly as ridiculous as in Konosuba. It got better over time but its just a far cry from Konosuba, I say that as a Magumin fan. If anything Im surprised how decent the rating is now, IIRC it was worse when it aired.

Honestly it just did not feel like Megumin and Yunyun were actually in the show, the characters felt different.

There should have been an OVA with the main cast in Axel with some of the cut content from the light novels or exclusive stories from the Manga if they really wanted to drum up more sales.
