| THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- Pretty long first chapter. Kemono, ghosts, youkai, hybrids...well they certainly introduced them right off the bat. I expect more background storytelling soon. Not much comedy from this as it seems to be a pretty serious series. It has my interest for now but I'm not impressed by the storytelling yet. I got a slight Tokyo Ghoul from this as well. |

| Really... I didn't get Tokyo Ghoul vibes from this at all. It's certainly lighter, and it looks like it may end up being episodic, and it also doesn't appear to match TG's depth. Which isn't a criticism, don't get me wrong. I really enjoyed this, and I don't think that's what it was trying to do anyway. But the Tokyo Ghoul series is a monster in and of itself. They hardly compare. I also think, just in general, you (the general you) should try not to make associations based solely on translations? I haven't seen raws, but I very highly doubt KJ used the same word as TG. "Ghoul" was a choice by the translator that unintentionally forced that connection. As soon as I read it, I thought about TG, too. But only then. Really, that just speaks to how much of a fixture TG has become over the past few years. Also, not much comedy?? Direct quote: "This may not be the best time, and it's a bit sudden, but... I'm going to show you my butt." Deadpan. There's comedy in this, even if it's not everyone's taste. Tl;dr I disagree lmao |

I've looked and looked and as far as I can tell, Ishida Sui must've coined that word himself. I'm not trying to claim 'ghouls' as exclusive to TG. Ghouls have a uh. Pretty long history. I'm not messing with that. I'm saying I doubt KJ used 喰種, and whatever was used instead was translated to the same word in English. Not that a) I'm fluent or b) I can actually find the raws, but ya feel? It's a false association, is what I'm saying. |
| Nah not like Tokyo Ghoul, really. But I love this and this is the kind of thing you can hype for. Pretty long chapter but that was one hell of a start. |
| This was a great first chapter, it was kind of unusual, but that ended up being a good thing. Yeah, I definitely see myself getting into this one. |

| It was a cool first chapter, because the fantasy enter, slowly but unstoppealbe, with a first cahpter very well carry to this outcome, but is not end, is a other start!!! When Dorotaba was cleaning the back of the detective, how he didn´t watch the tail? :/ Yes, he had a towel, but is a fox tail!!! |
| im currently re-reading this manga from the start . the mangaka is a lady , so she likes to add some ya0i vibes in this manga , lol : page 12 : - ... im here to "help" you with anything you "need" ... page 15 : - i dont like the sh0ta yataro . instead , i want the sh0ta dorotabo to "serve" me , lol . page 45 : - i will pull down my pants and show you my long , hairy "thingie" , lol . ................... page 17 : he scratched his dirty skin with a rough dish-washing sponge . page 20 : i guess the correct translations are : - i will tell you after you eat , or else you wont enjoy your foods . - i can handle it . even if you talk about toilet , i can eat curry just fine . panel 4 : goof : in page 18 , main boy already brought that food tray inside . page 24 : when main boy is emotionless , his eye pupils are white . when main boy is emotional , his eye pupils are black . page 56 : this deer 's horns form a human skull . page 66 : plot hole : a bus is coming through a remote village in the middle of the night ? yeah right . in volume 1 , the omake page of chapter 1 has these informations : - full name : kusaka kabane ( kusaka is the family name of his mother ) . - 13 years old . - birth-day : unknown . - 151 cm . - 48 kg . - strength : chopping wood . - weakness : serving guests . |
