| The cool thing about this announcement to me is that western fans put their money where their mouths are and it got them a tv series. We probably all know that there is very little interest for LWA in Japan, meaning that Trigger is purposefully catering to a western demographic with this, all because fans showed support where it really counts. |

The different names come from MAL's database guidelines to be able to distinguish two anime with the same name: When multiple anime entries share the same title but are of a different type, the title of the most recent entry will include the type in parentheses. When they are of the same type, the most recent entry will include the year. (e.g. Black Rock Shooter, Kaibutsu-kun) In this case, Little Witch Academia is a short movie produced as part of the government-funded Young Animator Training Project, and Little Witch Academia (TV) is a 25 episode TV series based on the former. The same thing happened with Death Billiards and Death Parade btw. |

The most noticeable difference is that here The Moon looks normal and in the TV there traces of a big scale spell gone wrong (it's even an important plot point). |
