Lol @ the end there.

On a much more serious note, I think following Jotaro is a good idea as locating Dio will also help find his sister's killer. I wonder what STAND he is referring though...one that is wore like some sort of shield???

Polnareff struggled to come to terms with the fact that Avdol was banished to the Shadow Realm by Vanilla Ice and is gone forever but seeing Cream's horrifying power first-hand made him realize that the slightest misstep could mean the end for them.

Their only objective right now is to survive.

This arc has reached peak tension which is rare for Stardust Crusaders due to the ease of which we have faith in the formula. But now, that can be thrown out the window. I was giddy with laughter when Ice explained that Abdul was disintegrated. The idea of a shounen hero who we’ve known for 100+ chapters getting disintegrated, instantly, without warning is something I would have not expected. It’s even more sudden than the shot to the head and reminds me of a horror movie rather than a shounen, which is fitting for such a horror-inspired mangaka I suppose. Now, if my translation was right and Abdul is armless in some shadow realm then that’s less cool, and if he is saved then that is even less cool with each level decreasing the sudden nature of this moment; although it's still cool in its own way. Just conceptually, having a stand this viscerally dangerous and intimidating is wonderful. The panel of Polnareff ducking accidentally and a chunk being disintegrated by his head was something I heard and felt. There is a level of panic and danger which is tangible.

Polnareff managed to get a hit in and we heard the phrase that he had conquered fear. This is something that was said about Kakyoin verbatim in D’arby. And it was something Dio said verbatim when discussing what it means to truly survive. All the way back in chapter 17, Strength part 1. He contested that to survive is not to get what you want because one has to fight to get what they want. And when someone fails the fight, like he did with Jonathan, fear overtakes their body. He ultimately finished by stating “to conquer fear is what it takes to survive”. He also suggested that to stand at the top of the world is to lack fear. This was why Dio wanted to take care of them himself, he concerned himself with fate and wanted to wipe the Joestars out completely. I bring this up because we are bringing the heroes on the same page as Dio. Kakyoin’s mission is one in the same with Dio’s, to conquer fear. To defeat Dio, to fight for what they all want, is to conquer fear. This is a recurrent idea and it’s become all the more reiterated.

Also, Vanilla Ice reminds me of Yuyu Hakusho’s Itsuki, and One Piece’s Kuma. They are for very different reasons and if you have seen either or both it will become incredibly obvious why.
