Sket Dance. It won the 55th annual Shogakukan Manga Award in 2009 for best shounen manga.

As a shounen it is quite peculiar, as doesn't rely on action, villains and much more cliches things. In this regards, remeber me of Zetsubou Sensei.
It is basically a manga comedy, people sometimes compare to Gintama but Sket Dan finds the harmony between comedy and seriousness and heart warming stories.
The characters have a good development, nothing superficial and baseless. The romance is subtle this because of the characters personalities.
The plot doesn't rely on erotic scenes, but on a smart comedy. Altough Sket Dance is fairly popular i believe he is a hiddem gem between the shounen world.

I really love this mangaka as her character development are always deep and realistic. I love the psychological development.
The characters have flaws, insecurities, emotional, realistic... they pretty much seems real to me.
I'm an avid fan of Bl, specially a good one that isn't cliched and superficial.

This story is only second to Zankoku na Kami ga Shigai Suru by Hagio Moto. Zankoku is master piece, the psychological development is amazing. I hope one of those 3 can be featured

A short manga by the famous Hayao Miyazaki. In many ways it feels like a beta version of Nausicaa and Princess Mononoke. Easily one of my favorites. You can read through it fairly quickly. Hardly anybody outside of Japan seems to know it exists, despite having so many early elements of the previously mentioned movies. I think that makes it an underrated gem.

Vampire Juuji Kai: Truly one of the best mangas I have ever read. It's a shame I took such a long time to pick up this gem. I hear you saying: "Again, another stupid vampire story...". Yes, but here they are more superpowerful humans than bloodsucking monsters (actually, they don't suck blood at all). And no, the plot is far from being stupid.

In fact, what matters here is the plot and the main character. If you like good written stories, check it out.

It's a must-read for me, definitely!

As the plot focus on politics and war, it has the seriousness and developing it needs as the topics aren't simple. The author manages to have a great character development and settings.

May I suggest adding the mangas +Anima and Mimia Hime to the roster? +Anima because it's a great fantasy-like take on discrimination and the effects of it and Mimia Hime because it's a sweet, heartwarming, tearjerking fantasy about a girl who's born with no wings yet has to go on a journey to become a God and help the world despite being a little child.
