Minnesota Fats is a borrowed character: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minnesota_Fats

I'm not familiar with any of those works, so I don't know if it's really the same character. I imagine not since the Fats in this episode is an assassin.

This is the first very silly episode in a while, and I don't think it works too well, although the sequence where Jigen tries many hats was funny. The recent stuff is good at pulp fiction but not at the silly comedy that was very common earlier in the series.

In which Minnesota Fats challenges Jigen after exploiting his weakness...his hats! Wait...what? Yes, apparently Jigen's only good with a gun while wearing his hat to aim. If that sounds idiotic that's because...it is! I can only assume we've seen some hatless sharpshooting from him before I can't recall from memory. He doesn't even rise above this by the end either, he just tricks Fats into an avalanche and Fujiko buys him a new hat. What? >:D Part of me thinks they only wrote this to draw Jigen in a dozen different hats. :D

So the secret is his hat?

I know he's shot without it before...

I knew Jigen's hat have some secrets in it xD

Awww Zenigata
Sometimes I feel bad when he cried

A little bit anti-climatic
We didn't even see him died or not
I guess they're trying to be kid friendly as much as possible

Dat hilarious trick shot, tho xD

This was a pretty nice episode (even Zenigata got emotional) probably the last one for this part that focussed on Jiren and what could've been more fitting than a duel for the title "best in the world".

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

Part II is almost over... Jigen certainly has a peculiar weak point though, and that Minnesota Fats didn't play fair and took advantage of it. He also had no problem "facing" Lupin, but ran away from Goemon. But well, Jigen won even without his hat thanks to Lupin's idea, and he already got a new one thanks to Fujiko. And also a lot of money. lol Oh, I really liked the start of this one too, with Jigen doing his laundry, and Goemon enjoying playing cards with Lupin. Zenigata being moved to tears by Jigen's spirit was also nice. xD

Nice to get more info on Jigen, and he trying on different hats was funny. They win 100 million, but the next episode everything will be reset again. Yet it doesn't really matter. With the skills the gang has, money really isn't an issue and they're just stealing stuff for the fun of it, as they already have several hideouts, airplanes etc.

One of the stupidest episodes. It's a silly concept that such an ingenious gunner as Jigen is unable to aim without the hat. I'm 99% sure that in some previous episodes he didn't has any problems in shooting without his hat.

Jigen has absolutely been able to shoot straight without his hat before. Particularly in episodes like Episode 99 and Episode 75. And in Episode 84 he's shown learning to shoot while wearing a flatcap.
Not much else to say about a bad episode with good art.

It's even more egregious than him liking classical music in one episode and being bored by it in the next, because he's a gunman by nature.

Joke that's obscure to anyone outside of Japan: the song Zenigata was singing was the theme of baseball series 'Star of the Giants'.

Jigen's weak point being something outside his comfort zone is something the show's autistic base can relate to.
