I found out some stuff that may be of interest to you.
First of all, many of you already know about the "upcoming OVA". This was a
news item that came out some time ago, and MAL has a news thread on the topic.
It was posted by Symbv on October 28th. See here:

In Japan, they call it an "OAD" (not an "OVA"). This stands for "Original Anime
Disk" (オリジナル・アニメー・ディスク). So if you want to search for recent details
about it, you should Google "のんのんびより OAD". Apparently, when they say
"OAD" it specifically means, "an OVA disk which is bundled with a manga
volume". But if you try to Google "のんのんびより OVA" you will find basically
nothing.
This "OAD" is going to go on sale on July 23rd, 2014. It is going to be bundled
together with Volume 7 of the manga. It will cost 3333 yen, tax included.
ISBN: 978-4-04-066272-5 softcover
The source of my information is here: http://www.nonnontv.com/goods/
Comiket is starting on Sunday, of course. Yesterday, the official Non Non Biyori
tweet showed a photograph of posters decorating the walls in the exhibition hall
there: https://twitter.com/nonnontv/status/416462092124700672/photo/1
So you can see the huge poster at the bottom left. It is advertising the OAD.
Too bad it is so blurry.
Apparently, they will start taking pre-orders for the OAD on Monday, March 24th,
2014.
I have a question, though. This is not being marketed as an ordinary Blu-ray or
DVD. Therefore, it will presumably not show up in Amazon Stalker along with
other pre-orders for upcoming anime Blu-rays and DVDs. So, how can we follow
the progress of the pre-orders for the OAD?
Also, does anybody here think that it is an intentional business decision for them
to continue to produce the anime in the form of an "OAD" rather than a second
season or a conventional OVA? Could this be the desire of the manga artist?
There is one more thing that I wonder about. When you buy the manga
volume, does it come bundled with the Blu-ray or the DVD? Above, they only
specify a single ISBN. Therefore, there is only one option which can be ordered.
I did find one source (Wikipedia) that said that "OAD" actually stands for
"original anime DVD". Another source said that "OAD" could stand for
either "original anime disk" or "original anime DVD". And "original animation
disk" (オリジナル・アニメーション・ディスク) has also been used.
So possibly we will see an old-fashioned DVD come bundled with Volume 7 of the
manga, but the Blu-ray will not be an option. |
