| Certainly lives up to its fujoshi bait reputation (while also having cute girls), but while I found the main plot involving our tsundere Rin-chan-san decent, I still quite enjoyed this for its lighthearted comedy (like their names, Haru's swimming obsession, etc.). |

| Whoa, what an emotional, epic final episode. Rin losing his temper (at poor Nitori), Haru and Rin fighting but finally admitting that they miss their friendship and that they swim for each other, Rei swapping himself out so Rin could swim with his old pals... so much to discuss. Haru and Rin are finally on the same page. When their fight first began, Rin stood in darkness (the shade of the tree) and Haru stood in the light. By the end, Rin was in tears and they were both on the same side. Rin is evolving and started calling Nitori by his first name. He is trying to be a better teammate and find his way. Rei giving up his spot for Rin was huge. Rei, being the newest, least experienced, and having the least amount of memories with the other members... while Rin was their stellar swimming buddy from forever ago that everyone kept talking about... that's huge. I'd be afraid that I'd be replaced by Rin on the relay team, since he's more talented and has a history with them. While their relay occurred, I felt like there was an ounce or so of that steaming off of Rei, with good reason. Rei will not be replaced though, since Rin will stay at his school (and surprisingly wasn't kicked off the team for that crazy stunt!) Honestly, this anime was a breath of fresh air. I haven't watched a dub in a long time. An anime that made me laugh, cry, smile, and that I wanted to hear every single intro/outro/extra "next time" scene. I couldn't press the next button fast enough lol. The last time I felt this way was Tokyo Revengers (S1), but that one I watched subbed and was more serious in tone. Watching this series full of emotions and stories, with light-hearted times and serious times, with characters that were well-written... with OSTs and detailed scenes that made me actually rewind and review... wow. Just. Wow. :) |

| sigh as much as i like rin i did not like how he took over rei's place in the relay. i was really hoping rei's character wouldn't be a temporary rin replacement but it seems like he was literally written for that. i hope in the future seasons he gets treated better. |

| I ended up re-watching it and I still feel the same way I felt back when this was airing. I really like this show. Really love their friendship and above all, I love Rei. My selfless boy. You're the best boy. Will probably continue my rewatch. LOL |

| The last time I'll be listening to the OP, such a good intro song. I get that Nitori is trying to be helpful but he's so annoying lol how close are they staying from the elementary? How was Haru able to run to the elementary to find Rin and still have enough time? What was the point of staying in a hotel and taking a bus to the stadium if it was within walking distance??? Jk...apparently the tree was just a lookalike π Rin is by far my least favorite character because he's so damn angsty for no damn reason. Rei really is best boy. I said this before, but he deserves better. Everyone should've put their Rin feelings aside and let Rei participate in the race since he is now actually part of team, unlike Rin. Makoto got the "runner's high" or pure euphoria, so did Nagisa but he got to swim with dolphins and shit, Rei looks a lot like Rin, and Haru well he sunk a little too deep. And somehow with the power of friendship, they came in first. And now Rin is no longer a little bitch and made up with everyone lmao but they were ultimately disqualified :( For a sec I though Rin was transferring to the other school. They better treat Rei better in the newer seasons >:( |

| Final episode- Rin is such a sweetheart. They are fun as shotas (though Nagisa voice is a bit off) but as older, they're way stronger personalities. I love when Rei says he and Rin just had "a gentlemen's agreement" to do their best at the race... not something 17 year olds would say, BUT compelling words nonetheless. The silver haired boy who's always cheering Rin on really is the most deserving of some hugs. Rin is a total ass to him, for no reason. Acting like a selfish turd again. The coach removing him from the relay actually was a good call- he's clearly not in the right headspace for a relay. So he competes in the 100m and apparently cramped? His meltdown was ferocious wTF dude get a hold of yourself I kind of can't believe Haru actually absorbed it all.. he really grew as a character. I gotta say that was a lot more drama than it should have been BUT without all the drama, so well performed, would it have been as good as it was? They were all great when they showed each of them competing. Nagisa finally gets his moment to shine, his giggly personality contrast with his power as a swimmer. Rin finally got what he wanted- and it does make perfect sense. In the end... I fucking cried But then laughed- when the coach looked at Rin and said "It's the captain's decision! But as long as you swim with us the way you did with your buddies- WE'RE GOOD." Dam this show nailed it. 6/5 one of the best sports anime I have ever watched. |
