You can’t do this to me right now. I was already emotional, and then they dropped the bomb that Masaoka is Ginoza’s father.

I didn't expect this anime to tug at my heartstrings so profoundly. I comprehended and resonated with the character's rage and sadness when he said, "It's too late now." The portrayal of mental anguish was exceptional. In one scene they managed to depict him as a wounded little boy, seeking to understand why his father inflicted so much pain during his childhood despite professing love. However, he now desires to express his love by sacrificing his life for his son. His vehement proclamation, "It's too late," signifies his wish for his father to have made this sacrifice earlier, forsaking his career for a chance at a normal life, free from contempt and trials. He desired this change sooner rather than later. Despite the current realization that his dad genuinely loved him, the emotional weight intensifies the pain. He experiences a tumult of rage, sadness, and love simultaneously, to the point of being so overwhelmed that he physically tore off his own arm. Humans are so complex and this anime so far has been nailing that complexity.
