Something like guilty crown or steins;gate is ideal. Mirai Nikki was also very good. I enjoy the genres Action, Thriller, and Sci-Fi. Some others I've watched and enjoyed:

FMA
SAO
To Aru Majutsu no Index
To Kagaku no Railgun
Kaze no Stigma
Monogatari series
Ao no Exorcist
Fate Stay Night / Fate Zero

Too bad this is in English dub:

I'm not sure about the budget but it was really high quality animation.

Evangelion 1.0/2.0 (stand out for both OST and animation)
Sword of the Stranger (stand out animation)
Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica (stand out for both OST and animation)
Redline
Gundam Unicorn (stand out for both OST and animation)
Ghost in the Shell: SAC
Kara no kyoukai (same people that did Fate Zero)

For the ones I put with standout is in comparison to what I've seen in the industry.

But hey, if you're going to point out somebody's stupidity, at least be consistent with it:

Pretty much anything animated by Ufotable (the best studio at animating...things...).
That being said I third Kara No Kyoukai. Since the show's music is done by Yuki Kajiura, and animated by Ufotable, there is no way that you can be dissatisfied, since that is like a double whammy.

*I can't believe that I'm the one bringing a thread back on topic...what has this world come to?

It's really bad when people edit my quotes, as you can planely see, my original post is quite different to that which the deceiving Tavor decided to quote...

In hopes of redeeming myself, you should watch Code Geass. It is slightly similar to Guilty Crown plot wise (sort of).

The animation is just ok. Nothing special. But the soundtrack and story make up for it.

On the topic of Code Geass, if you watched that and happened to like it, there's also Akito the exiled which has pretty nice animation and gave me faith in sunrises's new mecha series. The CG is extremely well done, it can't replace the drawn stuff but it looked great. OST is hit and miss for me though and the plot is ok, it's better than I thought it would be but didn't blow me away.

Also SAO animation during battles is damn bad, not sure why it's being mentioned in this thread.

I loved that anime!! and funny comment btw, but I feel the same way, it's like people read right over what the person says.

Also another great anime is samurai champloo. Beautifully done.

best soundtrack of all time ever. I think their budget was something like a paperclip and some 80's computer, but the end result would have you think otherwise :)

high bugeet does not = high animation quilty if you pump most of a low or middling Budget in to animation it will come out good while other places suffer like plot fidlity to source basic character continuity ect

like code geass for example that had more plot issues than any good writer should have any good sense to write mainly from basic character continuity errors

my view on the entire topic
"If you tremble with indignation at every injustice, then you are a comrade of mine"

When the union's inspiration through the workers' blood shall run
There can be no power greater anywhere beneath the sun
Yet what force on earth is weaker than the feeble strength of one
For the Union makes us strong

Code Geass: A show so awful that even Otaking87 and Neane both agree that it's bad.
