thoughts on this growing trend? should it be banned or just restrict uploading of images on the internet? do you see more harm than benefits of this because of lack of consent? im neutral for now but i do think its harmful too and with the rise of gen ai this will become the norm in the future

It is not how the real person is under clothes. If you watch GTO it shows there were already people making naked montages back in the 90's. (It is in the first episodes, when he meets a nerd boy who makes and sells them.) <<As a society we should be getting above associating the person and its deep fakes too now.>>

@Sasori56483 are you implying its fine it to be the norm then? like maybe treat it as nude beach scenario?

I think they are fine for private usage, but publicizing fake nude pictures with real faces can be considered defamation, which is illegal in many countries.
No, this isn't my signature.

As long as you are using it for gooning and not defamation, I see no problem in it, nor do I believe in banning it.

@deg More like make the person know "It is not you there" and the persons that might get offended by seeing a deep fake of them "It is not them there".

Defamation is one thing, but banning them due to some ethical concerns is the same as banning imagining people naked.

Guessing by the other takes in this thread, this might be controversial (and it shouldn't be IMO) but I am pro-banning them.

I think a lot of people are under the assumption this is something that would only really impact people who are rich and famous to begin with, when really this isn't the case. The first example I can think of is that this technology can (and most likely already is) be used by stalkers or people with otherwise bad intentions, to any person. This can fuel their delusions, or make them feel like they have power over a victim. There have already been deadly cases of sextortion via realistic looking AI images/videos of people, including minors.

That also leads to another glaring issue, that if AI can create nude images of adults, it can, and will, be used by predators to create AI images and videos of child sex abuse. Think about it, normal AI videos are increasingly getting more and more realistic, more refined, less obvious to spot as fake. And it will only get harder. Do you think predators deserve to have an endless amount of literal CSAM at their disposal?

We need to put a stop to this technology before more children and adults alike are hurt. There is endless amount of porn on the internet, you'll survive without AI generated nudes.

@dreamingneon When it gets into the realm of CSAM, then it's illegal though. Like, even without AI deepfakes that problem doesn't change in *any* way. It's like arguing to ban the internet so that CSAM can't be distributed so easily. It's not really a valid argument against the technology, because the outcome is illegal either way (and is dealt with as such).

I'm still against the tech myself, but I actually think it should exist specifically BECAUSE of sextortion.

It's such a convenient excuse now. If fakes are SO easy to make, and SO indistinguishable from the real thing, can anyone even blackmail people over their nudes anymore?

Ok - you have a girl's actual nudes. You threaten to post it.

Go ahead. Post it. She'll claim it's AI and you've lost power over her. Except now you've given evidence of a crime against her, and you risk jail time for *nothing*.

AI deepfake porn gives people an excuse to avoid sextortion in the event that their nudes ARE leaked. This is especially important in preventing CSAM and the exploitation of teenagers, as a common tactic by predators is to manipulate them into sending one thing then blackmailing the rest out of them.

Plausible deniability robs them of that power.

As a woman, this shit should be illegal as it violates consent. If someone did this to me for example, I did not consent to giving them NSFW pictures of myself and it can easily be used for things like revenge porn to actively try and ruin someone's life. If you are someone who actively uses this you can go to hell as you clearly do not value the barriers and consent of people's bodies.

Don't know, don't use, and don't have any plans to do so. People look better in clothes anyway – much more variety, many more customization options.

Imagine women doing this to you and they make you have a monster dong and you're like of course I have a 9 inch dong... I can prove it! By killing myself!

@deg No, it is just that if I need an X-ray of my skeleton or lungs, I am not using https://fazier.com/launches/xrayify and presenting it to a doc.
