I think my progress is just fine for someone who's been watching anime for almost 30 years, now. It's not some kind of race.

well I have 3 months to finish 90 anime, it's about impossible since it takes 3 days for me on average to finish 12 episodes.
I'm not happy. failed to watch 200 anime/year twice now. (last year I capped at 199, I was furious.)

What's stopping you from finishing 500 anime per year?

In 2 years, you'll have crossed 1.4k anime.

Even if they were 1-cour ones, that would take more than 100 uninterrupted days.

Yes, I've watched an amazing amount of anime and sometimes we have to remember that the goal is to enjoy and not blindly watch to log what we have watched. Like ik this is a anime logging website, but us as watchers shouldn't forget the og mission when watching anime, is to enjoy it as it's a form of visual entertainment.

So basically stop worrying abt ur anime progress

When I Made this Account I was a bit curious of how much would the anime I had watched amount to but I don't think I care that much about numbers.
To me the journey is more important than the destination. I'm glad there are still so many anime/manga I'm curious about and haven't explored yet.

Actually I get a bit jealous of people with low numbers. There are so many good Shows they didn't watch yet, I Wish I could experience them again for the first time xD

This exactly proves my point I made ages ago that I got destroyed for making: People are watching just to increase their numbers instead of just enjoying a show.

If you thread was exactly about that then of course you'd get destroyed for it. It's a huge generalisation. And using thewiru's schizo posts to prove your point is very questionable.

It's not the size that matters, it's how much you enjoy it, never forget that when you think to yourself, "I wish it were bigger"
@Jackson1333 factual at the end of the day noone cares how much anime youve seen

@Hiyajo-san Okay? Lmao. My point still stands, there are people on here that only watch to increase their numbers. I never said ''everyone'' People who are like ''Well, technically....'' and then feel the need to point out that its not everyone.... bruh i never said it was. But it's funny, people didn't like that post, and they felt attacked, which mustve hit a sore spot for them, they knew I was right, hence why the huge uproar. If you know it dosent apply to you, why are you so upset? People who argue on technicalities are so frustrating. Its like when you say junk food is a cause for obesity and someone has to swoop in and be like ''well... not if you eat it only sometimes'' WE KNOW THAT.

But what if I'm good at the stuff I enjoy?

You must be entertaining while doing so or maybe giving them some confirmation for their taste - even when you disagree, you should hypocritically praise their favorite anime (what I guess Chibi Reviews MO is).

It has slowed down the past few months due to studies but its still quite good.
If you enjoyed the time you wasted, then its not a waste of time.

Your list is only sad if you lie about what you watched or read to inflate the numbers.

I could watch a lot of anime when I was younger, but now that I have a fulltime job, my ability to binge out a season or two a day is limited. Thus, if numbers were really important to someone, they could easily catch up to my list by just taking a year or two off work.

Now, I will comment that if someone does really care about having watched more anime than others, my only suggestion would be to commit to that now, before I retire from work and have the power of time AND money at my disposal.

I really don't care about my anime progress!! I didn't know anyone cared about this. They're just entertainment shows, so why do you feel any regrets? I've been watching anime since I was a kid, and there are people who watch it in much larger numbers than me, and they started watching it recently. It doesn't depend on the numbers, but rather on your free time and passion for watching. Don't forget that there are many things in this life that are more important than watching movies and series. You should think about your future, your success, and your family. As for the rest of the entertainment, it's secondary, so it shouldn't occupy your mind or time. We watch it just for fun. I wish you the best in your life.

My whole progress, I don't mind it, even tho majority of my anime watched time, has been dedicated to Bleach [as my list doesn't include reactions, random singular rewatches etc.]

I don't care about the numbers I've gained, I care more about the stuff I've actually enjoyed, I wouldn't be happy if my list would be twice or thrice bigger but with mean score of 3-4, even if I don't mind watching from time to time a worse show, I also don't want to spend whole days watching shows I don't find enjoyable. I guess my own mean score already should reveal that I do focus mainly on stuff I find enjoyable with some ocasional checking of stuff which are more obscure, unknown, worse etc.

Progress on what? On how many anime I have watched? While I do like keeping track, I don't think the number matters all that much- I don't think you get an award for having watched 500 anime.

I don't know how you managed to segway from small notebook/less demanding coursework, to... feeling inferior about anime numbers. lmao
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

Are you happy with your current numbers or do you feel you have to "compensate"?

Nobody with a long term exposure actually gives a shit about what the number is.

If they do they're padding their list or faking it for MAL clout like that "GOTTA WATCH EM ALL" nigga.

Remember—there's so much slop being churned out these days, watching everything just isn't worth it.

Just hit the classics and the couple notable series that air each year, and you'll be on par with everyone else who wasted their life on this shit.

I don't care much about the actual numbers (though if I went by MAL's days counter I'm probably somewhere between "normie with a MAL account" and "young adult who started watching anime when they were in high school") but I do sometimes feel like I'm playing catchup with how many series I missed out on over the years. Like, there's a lot of good anime out there and I've only seen a small fraction of it. Doesn't that suck?

I'm too bored with the medium to reach a 100 days so I guess I'll have my lackluster "anime progress" for a while.

If I answered this several years ago, I would say, yes.

But now, I am not. But it isn't necessarily due to the number I have completed. It's more so, the mixture (so more of the theoretical range). I will be honest, I do want to eventually hit my 500 milestone, but I ideally want it to be anime of new and old, and stuff that I remember/have left an impression on me. I am super behind on the new releases. I want to be able to give recommendations that are more modern for people who might have just gotten into anime in the last few years, and might expect a certain art style/quality, versus trying to recommend something that is over 20 years old.

So really, I am not so happy with the "progress" because I want my completed list to be more relevant/have a decent variety.

Though -- I will say it is okay to have goals. If you want to reach certain milestones, or complete several long series. I think not being happy/or really happy with your progress is totally fine. Like if you find you put anime on-hold too often, or if you drop anime too quickly. Or maybe you have a lot of anime in your plan to watch list that you haven't emptied out or tried. I definitely been in that boat too. My plan to watch list is far too big at this point (needs a good cleaning).

I use to love watching my PTW get smaller but haven't had much luck.
I will eventually only have "airing" anime on my PTW

I am unhappy with my progress but in a different way. Due to big changes in my life I could barely watch anything for over a month and that really set me back this season. The 2025 summer season is about to end and I have so much seasonals I yet to begin. I will binge them sure, but that will delay my next season too! Usually I complete 2 anime from ptw list per season, which I failed consecutively and my PTW list is growing now too. What a conundrum. Anyway this doesn't make to my top 50 problems in life.

Are you happy with your "anime progress"?

I'm happy with my anime progress so far. Furthermore, I'm already in a state where I prefer to rewatch some of my favorite shows instead of looking out for new shows to watch. In my PTW-list, I only have a few titles left to watch, which already have finished.

I don't really have thoughts like "If only I watched more stuff during high school," because I was too young to enjoy the anime that was broadcast back then. I mean, I was watching Pokemon back then, but that's it. For example, I could've been watching One Piece, Naruto and probably even Inuyasha as well. Those are titles that are more interesting than the ones that are currently being shown on free TV. (The one main free TV broadcaster, which airs anime regularly, doesn't really have interesting titles anymore because they prefer to go for mainstream titles only atm, e.g., they want to go for Chainsaw Man now. 2 1/2 years ago, they'd shown Trigun and The Vision of Escaflowne. I wish they would show more titles like these 2.)

numbers are cool and all but I don't really care that much. I just watch anime for fun, not like I'm getting paid for this or anything.
