This episode kinda brings back the root of the show with the school investigations. I mean, Mitsuba is one of the mysteries after all.

Just a good old classic detective type of episode with the prominent cast members involved.

Group suicide at my house. I’m still mad they had to break our hearts last week with the severance ๐Ÿ˜ญ and then they go and do it again with Mitsuba mom this week man give me a break! We obviously already knew Mitsuba died tragically and didn’t have a good time at school, but seeing his death play out in real time and how it affects his mom to this day, the sudden nature of it and seeing Kou just freeze up at several points today as he comes to terms with it.. yea I’m not ok

The way Kou gets overwhelmed when he sees Mitsuba’s butsudan and Nene tugs on him gently to sit down and pray is sooo sad I wanna give him the biggest hug.. Mitsuba’s mom needs one too because you can tell Sosuke was literally all she had in life. No other family, doesn’t look like any friends.. just her and her little man. The fact he was basically her stylist and fashion designer too and you can see how she’s continued to implement some of the fashion tips he used to tell her.. yea I’m not ok

“Curry without potatoes never hurt anyone” they did NOT need to show us the car hitting Mitsuba man. The fact he was just trying to give his mom a nice birthday dinner and it was the last thing he ever did.. life ain’t fair man.

YES, let’s go into the haunted house where everyone who goes dies and anyone who even thinks about tearing it down dies! Brilliant ๐Ÿคฃ they have zero survival instinct, but tbf it also seems something was drawing Nene and Kou in and it likely has something to do with Tsukasa(?) excited for this arc

@Marinate1016 That makes two of us.

I can't with these kids ๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿป

And man, like rifling through the remnants of a life that shouldn't even be gone yet, and the music is like this weird mix of Satie and NieR.... geez. ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿคฏ Kou had such a crush on Mitsuba. Can't convince me otherwise.

And so we begin the Red House arc. I'm very satisfied of the visuals this episode as well, and it gave Kou a much needed conclusion regarding the human Mitsuba. Now I wonder if Mitsuba died because of a simple car accident or if he was cursed by the Red House to die that way... Considering that he took a photo of it.

A bit of a heavier episode this week, not that the last one wasn’t but still lol. Didn’t think we’d be learning more about Mitsuba all this time later, but I’m really glad we did, he’s got a really sweet mom and they had a wholesome relationship, such a terrible shame he went the way he did but at least we got to know him as a ghost, and then again as the Third Wonder, even if he’s technically a different existence now. And someone else mentioned this already, but I was thinking it too, like perhaps the red house photo is cursed just like the real one and that played into Mitsuba’s out of nowhere death, would be really fucked up if so, but I guess it isn’t that much worse than a random car accident.

I also liked the Mitsuba stuff for how Kou reacted to it, it’s kinda funny that he got closure on Mitsuba being gone when he already knew as him as a ghost, but I also think it was well done, like it just clicked with him that his friend is actually gone, even if he already was, very good stuff. And after that, Kou and Nene stumbled upon and walked into the red house they were just told NOT to go into, these goobers man lol, they got lured in with some incredibly obvious bait but I can’t deny I am liking the spooky atmosphere of the red house, and the end of the episode revealed there’s a chibi Hanako or Tsukasa in there, so I guess this red house is about to reveal some Hanako lore, I’m excited to see what it’s all about.

And oh yeah, not sure if I like that Kou brought up “becoming a ghost” to Nene, even if she does love Hanako I don’t think you want that lol, but maybe there’s more to it than simply dying. And lastly, Sakura finally appeared again! For the opening segment of the episode and nothing else lol, oh well, I’ll take what I can get.

Good episode showing how much Mitsuba meant to Kou. It's one of those things where if the personality and memories are the same as the original, is it the same person? Since part of Mitsuba became a ghost who then became an apparition, even if some parts aren't 100% the same, it's still him as far as I'm concerned.

Also, I've been assuming Mitsuba committed suicide this entire time, but I don't know where that came from. I probably just forgot whenever the real cause was alluded to.

The voice of the boy did sound more like Tsukasa than Hanako, but it's clearly younger, so who knows what tomfoolery is going on. I don't think it's their family house or anything, although it could be I suppose.

Everyone: "Don't go near the house with the red roof. You may die."

Nene and Kou: WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAHHH!! LFG!!!

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

It's cool to see Kou and Nene investigating, especially when it comes to Mitsuba and her mother. It's very sad that Mitsuba simply died because of a car accident... now his photos lead to this cursed red roof mansion and inside they find a little Hanako, wow... this is getting more and more mysterious now.

part of this ep was a kick in the guts
the artstyle is so cutesy and the colors are so vibrant, the characters are all in the screen sometimes so ut doesn't rly sink in, but Mitsuba died, a home was destroyed, a mother lost her son, a house got empty.
And the worst part u cant rly say "well i see him all the time at school and ik hes enjoying afterlife, tho its not rly him anymore but rather a fragment of him, u know the original died in absolute after turning into a twisted monstrosity and begging to be killed" ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€
honestly my coping mechanism is just acepting the new mitsuba as the real one but reborn, kinda like a clean slate, tho i think thats not exactly lore acurate

Nene is still in denial about her love to Hanako ๐Ÿ˜‘
How could Hanako's twin Tsukasa be alive in the red house while also being an apparition ?
Red House arc sounds unsettling with the family suicide rumors
Also I feel sad for mitsuba's mom being left alone after her son's death

Of course the FIRST PLACE they go is the insanely cursed house where everyone either A) Dies or B) goes insane & vanishes.
And is that a little Tsukasa or Hanako? WTH?!

Ahh, so it was the brother's house. Well, next week should be very interesting. And that might explain the curse. Or was the curse the cause??

This was a good episode, kinda went back to the basics of hauntings and ghosts with a classic old haunted house. Hope Mitsuba's mums okay though being without her partner and son must be lonely. I imagine Kou and Nene showing up helped ease that a little

Favorite episode of the season so far. Not sure how the next one about Hanako's past will go but the whole focus on Mitsuba's mother and her days alone was something I was really invested in. *cries in a corner*
