What if GQuuuuuux is entirely original?

My what if of this what if.

The overall plot will be the same but characters,concepts and plots from UC will be replaced with original ones. Zeon will be replaced by another dicatorial regime. The One Year war will be replaced with another devastating war that led to earth defeat. New types will be replaced by another higher evolved humans and Char would be replaced by another masked character as per tradition.

The main plot will be the same, which further prove how unecessary the multiverse crap is. But removing all this connection to UC will allow it to stand on it's own and not be a blatant nostalgia baitong cash grab.

Yeah as long as it's the same team working on this hypothetical version that has no Gundam involvement I think it would still be the best thing I've seen in decades.

what do you mean? nothing from GQuuuuuux actualy reminds of me Eva other than blatant color scheme for the other gundam and rx78 comically growing.

It would have been a lot better. Pyramid Inu made a great video critiquing GQuuuuuuX and in it they describe how they would have liked to see a version where each episode was a self-contained Clan Battle exploring a different element of the setting with more of the director's FLCL-style moody hangouts. Shame it's just a 79 nostalgia jackoff in the end.

I mean, Challia Bull and his plot line is possibly the only decently written part of the entire show.

Removing the UC stuff which is at least moderately interesting leaves us with what, exactly? The most underdeveloped love triangle in 2025? Two psychopaths and the cardboard cutout they fell in love with? What does Shuuji have to distinguish himself as a character without the multiverse plot to define what little personality he has?

The other original characters are the Canaries, who could actually be decent if given more episodes, and the not-White Base crew, who are astoundingly boring but would also have more to do if Challia were replaced.

GQx’s biggest writing problem is that the main trio are fucking ass. With a better plot and more time to focus on them you could make Machu and Nyaan work, but Shuuji is so engrained in the multiverse plot you’d be better off replacing him completely with an actual character.

Probably it will have more episodes dedicated to their world and the pacing will be different.
