We're over halfway through 2025, so what were your favorite movies of this year so far?

Sinners is my personal favorite, followed by Superman. I still have to watch plenty of 2025 movies though like The Thunderbolts and Fantastic 4.

@JKKH

I haven't seen 28 Years Later, isn't it that biohazardic post apocalyptic movie? I heard it was good.

I don't usually watch horror because it's often the same shit over and over again. But I was so glad that Sinners brought a new twist to the horror genre, common Ryan Coogler W.

What is Weapons though? I have never heard of that.

@Fukoku Yeah horror tends to be pretty hit or miss for me too. I don't like the standard plotlines and kinda boring archetypical characters a lot of them have. Those three I mentioned all stand out in their own ways though imo. I thought 28 years later was going to be a more standard zombie movie than it turned out to be, but it's pretty weird lol. lot more emotional and funny than I thought it would be too. And Weapons is about a classroom of kids who all suddenly go missing in the middle of the night. It's kinda more of a thriller/comedy than an outright horror movie. As you like Sinners you'd probably like those two too I think.

Sinner was so good. I watched it with my dad (I went to the theater blind), and I was shocked when it was actually a horror movie. Loved the soundtrack (shoutout Ludwig Göransson).

I've been seeing the hype of "Good Boy," which is a horror movie from the perspective of a dog living in a haunted house. So I'm hoping to see this one as soon as it the theaters.

So far the only stand out movies this year for me have been the live action of how to train your dragon and the formula one. It has been a slow year and the price of going to the cinema can be expensive. I have heard though that the movie weapons was good so I might go watch that. Also I think warfare might be on streaming which I heard was good but didnt have the time and go and see.

Definitely Superman. It was one of the most enjoyable superhero movies I've seen in years. I didn't even like Thunderbolts that much. I was very burnt out of superhero movies and this movie felt like a breath of fresh air for the genre. Cant wait to see what else James Gunn does for the DCU.

Avatar 3 hasn’t released yet so doesn’t count.

For now, it's a toss up between Sinners or Ne Zha 2 for me. 🔥

Of all the movies I've seen this year, K-Pop Demon Hunters is the only one I've liked.

Out of Jurassic World Rebirth & F1 as the only other ones I've seen, The Naked Gun was easily the best.

My brother just watched Weapons a few nights ago and he really enjoyed it. I probably should watch it too.

I've barely watched any 2025 films, but from the few I have seen Bring Her Back. Me and a buddy usually watch the Best Picture nominees, so I'm sure it'll change once those get announced.

I watched 28 Days Later today and tomorrow I will watch 28 Years Later. 28 Days was great and I'm sure Years will be just as promising, if not better.

@Fukoku Cool glad you liked it! I personally liked years a bit more than days but they're both good. Years has a pretty different vibe to it though.
