For clarification: This is not new season of OG gate anime but the adaptation of the sequel novel Gate season 2 with new main cast

| Sounds kinda disappointing. I already found it weird of the 2 - but the older one was basically "part 2" of a first series of source material (novel I think) ... and this the first part of an adaption of the sequel novel? I think back then someone said there was still a bit (not too much though - I think for maybe 1 more cour?) stuff left to adapt from the old source. Why did they not do that? Any news on that? Let's hope they are going to adapt that soon as well. (Not just skipping/ignoring and then for some reason with this one and the characters here pushing multiple seasons ... would be odd if they tried for more than 2 seasons each 1 cour without also doing the old one.) I just hope the chars are somewhat decent. Old GATE was one of the best isekai cause of how it was set up and the great male (adult) main character and the likeable other characters. I already fear this one might go more a fanservic route including more annoying stuff (which sells better though) - them having skipped to this because of it? |

| I don't think the first novel has been fully adapted. This feels worse than J.C. Staff being forced to go to Index NT as fast as possible by rushing OT (and thanks to that, NT will rely on Railgun U and ITEM sales lmao). |

| Not sure if I should be thankful for this much needed clarification or angry for ruining my day :| Still, GATE was pretty cool just because of the setting, so it might still be great fun. |

| Well I'm not going to watch this. There's no point going off on another story without having finished the other. Can't see a naval themed story having the same impact as the land based one. Would the new mc even be able to go off on his own. In what? A canno? With new side chicks in a 4 person dingy? What would be comparable to the 2-3 jeep/tank convoy on sea? |

What's really misleading is the mal has the book series finish at book 5. It is not, it has been on haitus since 2020 not finished. |

| @bladecode My guess is that it might've been too long. The voice actors and animators might not be up to the task of continuing. It's been a decade since the original seasons, so some of them will have retired, others will have changed dramatically. Unfortunately, sometimes it's not worth continuing when all of the elements aren't there. Some good examples are High School DXD which lost its animators and directors for the fourth season. The style wasn't bad but it just wasn't the same and the series wasn't renewed for a fifth season. You can also look at NEO: The World Ends With You, where the voice actor for the main character in the original game sounded ridiculously different 14 years later in the sequel. It was so different they had to make him a side character and come up with a whole new cast. It's unfortunate, but the passage of time really affects these kinds of projects. If they tried to continue the original GATE, it would end up a low rated disaster because nobody would be satisfied with the result. |
