I've seen people say this season was kind of a let down or not worth watching. Is there a reason other than the fighting animation. I just completed this season and I thought it was really good.

What's your thoughts?

Mi opinión es que ya es necesario que tenga una a continuación por lo que ví esa noticia en la página de Noticias de Ánime de SomosKudasai por lo que ya hace falta la secuela para Steins;Gate 0

It just fully expands on the story near the end of the first season and feels like more of the same so if you liked it already then it should be fine. Just make sure you watch the special episode that accompanies it first and you should know where it takes place in the timeline.

Steins;gate 0 is a masterpiece and I don't get the hate. It expands way more the story. More context is always good if the story is peak

It's very good. Not as good as original, but still.
People hate on it simply because bar was set too high.
IMO best OP of 2018.

Promised Rinascimento branch of the VN > anime > Vega & Altair branch of the VN

The anime is indeed a mix of the two main branches of the visual novel. I still love 0, but the parts that are on par with the original Steins;Gate are those coming from the PR branch

It was slower than the first, but it showed a deeper psychological side of Okabe. The story is darker yet it has touching and honest moments about failure hesitation and trying to rise again. A different experience, but definitely worth it.

It is a great watch, and not just for plot reasons. You see a lot of character work in 0, arguably even more so than the original.

I really enjoyed when it came out. Wouldn’t say it was as good as the original but I personally recommend watching it!

The primary criticism I remember when it first came out was how the adaptation was done. Some VN readers apparently didn’t like the choices they made with that, but I haven’t read it so I don’t have an opinion on that front.

As someone who's played the VN, it helps a lot if people who played the VN think of it as the last iteration of all the different loops Okabe goes through in the VN. The VN, with the way it's structured, lacks a bit of cohesion that the anime provides.

It's also one of the few cases where I feel like the adaptation can act as an important complement to the VN, as opposed to how usually adaptations are just inferior to the source material.

it literally expanded more on the characters themselves (especially Mc) much more than the original. I don't know why this is downplayed from the fandom. Maybe because of the setting, as in it doesn't have beginning or an ending and it's more like an au.

Funny story about this, I totally butchered my watch through because I watched this thinking it was the original not realising that Crunchyroll doesn't have the licence for the original. Was confused as hell throughout. I later watched the original and I get why it's acclaimed. It's quite simply a masterpiece.

Hot Take: I liked the 0 anime more than the virtual novel. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜‰ Granted, I watched the 0 anime first, then read the VN, then rewatched the 0 anime to see which was better.

IMO the anime is better cuz it brought all the VN's branching storylines together very well, creating a better overall story that didn't drag on forever like the VN did. So I recommend it! ๐Ÿ‘Œ

My opinion? as a hardcore Steins;Gate fan, it's my best anime after all, I will say that Steins;Gate 0 was shit appart from some pretty good episodes which I enjoyed like episode 8 (which is the best one), 19 and 21, some other episodes were decent too, and other episodes weren't that good, and the worst offender of them all is episode 18 which is pure dog shit, I hated that episode with passion and that single episode ruined the entire anime for me but that's not the only problem this anime had, it had other issues which I disliked as well in the previous episodes.

Overall, it was way too slow for my taste and when things started moving I get pure dog shit like episode 18. This didn't feel like Steins;Gate at all, but that single episode, that fucking episode 18 was the icing on the cake and the cherry on top, it was the tiping point which made me hate this anime, and when I saw Samurai Ruka in episode 20 I couldn't take this shit seriosly anymore, it was garbage, fuck this anime.

I'm watching Steins;Gate here, not some shounen shit and Steins;Gate 0 felt like a kiddie shounen anime with these mother fuckers with super powers, dodging bullets like Rambo and chopping heads off with their bare hands, get the fuck out with this shit.

I mean yeah...it's a alternative thing. You get to see what happened off-screen, in the main series.
So the excitement is kinda gone. It feels like Bonus-Material.

The best part is already over, at this point.
We didn't need it.

@SaunaKauha This. By far. It's really underhated.

Steins;Gate 0 is a slow, soulless, fanfiction-tier mess. Okabe is an emotionally paralyzed zombie, half the plot is filler, and the rest is incoherent retcons wrapped in fake suspense. Kagari’s arc is laughably shallow. The emotional beats go nowhere because the buildup is nonexistent.

And yet, it has a high MAL score. Why? Because Kurisu simps can’t control themselves. The wankers worship anything with a redhead and a tragic filter slapped on top. This isn’t a sequel, this isn't an alternative version. It’s just narrative necrophilia.

Didn't really add much imo.

Would've preferred to see more about SERN and the bad future they created in the Beta World Line.

@MeFromYoutube You confuse Beta with Alpha I think

Beta - WW3
Alpha - SERN Dystopia. You can read Distant Valhalla LN for a story like that

@SciADV_Maniac yeah, you're right. It's been a while since I watched the anime and I guess I got confused
