Wataru's an interesting character. After offering Sakurako food, he told her to pay with her body—but what he meant was putting her to work, lol. It’s hard to tell when Sakurako’s actually blushing since there’s always that redness—like ketchup—on her face.

Miwa’s back at it again with her dark place hunts, lol. And after seeing Sakurako with Akihiro, she immediately jumped to conclusions.

It seems Wataru is madly in love with Sonoko, but what kind of joke was that—“How many male ends have you used?” Dude, are you sure that’s something you should say, even if it’s about USBs? Still, it looks like our Smiling Beauty figured out what Wataru did with her phone case and noticed that he charged her phone. He might have a chance, but it’s going to be a long road.

Wataru seems a really wacky guy who just comes up with the craziest stuff. Miwa made a thankfully brief appearance this episode I just don't see what she adds to the show.

Tenkubashi is a highly dangerous individual, knocking out the college's power and cooking that girl just to charge her phone. He is truly the king of simps! In fact, I'm surprised that he hasn't already bought her a new phone with a fresh battery and female charging port.

Other highlights include Sakurako "selling her body" (cute ponytail!) and learning about the mighty turbine. Not so much Muumuu in this episode, but his one moment with the mixer was gold.

Man... the whole microwave and phone charging stuff is wild, it's certainly worth the effort tho, I mean just look at her!

I question on how the microwave oven was invented. I assume the story was largely romanticized, just like the story about how Newton think of gravity when he see the apple fall.

Stylistically I like how the entire world greyed out immediately after the entire university had a power blackout.

@phantomfandom From Microwave oven - Wikipedia:

In 1945, the heating effect of a high-power microwave beam was independently and accidentally discovered by Percy Spencer, an American self-taught engineer from Howland, Maine. Employed by Raytheon at the time, he noticed that microwaves from an active radar set he was working on started to melt a candy bar he had in his pocket. The first food deliberately cooked by Spencer was popcorn, and the second was an egg, which exploded in the face of one of the experimenters.

Zero romanticized, exactly this way.

Also, research on microwave radars led to some cooked birds, which made some researchers scratch heads...

Tenkubashi is cracking me up. I thought going up the rooftop of an educational establishment with a gun-like object and aiming it into the student body was a plan without flaws.

This show would be a lot better without the educational part, is like it loses focus with it.

Starting to think Wataru fried his brain with a microwave or something. Show is incredibly random and I'm adoring it. I really like the art style of this anime. Very unique.

I would assume you couldn't always just swap out one motor for another since sometimes they have different power requirements but they also can be same since more torque is usually just a different mechanical setup where it sacrifices speed for the toque.

Lol so I guess it's a whole thing that Wataru is an idiot when it comes to phrasing and is bad at socializing. At least he's mechanically smart but oh damn that could have went so much more wrong with his little attempt at charging the phone battery of Sonoko.

A bit off on why the phone won't hold a charge. Yes the female connectors can get badly bent up which ive seen happen particularly with micro USB sometimes where a phone wont properly charge when plugged in but also regular use of a phone can wear the battery capacity over time requiring it to be replaced. To prevent your phone from losing capacity avoid charging to 100% and never let it drain to 0% or even 15% and it will last years with most of it's capacity. Also rappid charging makes them lose capacity so slower charging is actually better for lifespan of a rechargeable battery.

Sakurako looks cute in a ponytail.

Wataru is a young man incapable of relenting with an obsession for recharging phone batteries from a distance. The tech jargon explanation was wrong, the male/female jargon actually relates to genitalia, not about male replaceability...

@Avvenirista nuts are female and bolts are male because the bolt is the active protruding screwing part while the nut receives it passively just like a fascinating animal mating ritual. It references their physical shape, nothing to do with replacement costs or functionality.

Did you even read the whole page that you linked and the excerpt I captured? The last couple lines in my screenshot explicitly validate what Wataru was joking about (males are displaceable, you look like you went through a lot of them).

Moreover, Wataru was specifically talking about USB plugs and the general devices connected to them, not about nuts, bolts or fasteners in general.

@Avvenirista I think you're overanalyzing it. You don't have to agree with everything in that article, but it gets the main point right:

The assignment is a direct analogy with male and female genitalia.

It's more of a descriptive term than technically accurate, it's just an intuitive way to know which end goes where without needing a lot of technical explanation.

I used the nuts and bolts as a simple example. The explanation Wataru gives says that the protruding connector is named "male" after the replacement cost, which is unconventional and incorrect. You're free to explore an analogy around replacement cost but that's not the original intent behind the terms.

@Avvenirista It's not me being fussy because it's a dehumanizing joke. The cost difference to replace males has nothing to do with the shape of their genitals but about differences in reproductive investment between sexes. What Wataru says is an implied meaning, unlike gendered terms male / female which are direct visual references.

You are so close to getting it.

Wataru skipped the extra explanation of gendered electronic design and went directly for the crass in-joke about USB plugs, the actual topic that the students were talking about, because he wanted to openly embarass Sonoko, not educate her.

See, as someone with absolutely zero foreknowledge of the ins and outs of electrical equipment and the process of their disassembly (I'm not being hyperbolic when I state that Sakurako likely learned more within a few days in the college club than I learned regarding it prior and within my entire life), the usage of gendered terminology in mechanical engineering for electronics' and other machines' component parts and associated tools for repair and accessories, etc., I thoroughly appreciate the edutainment portion of this series. I mean, that's something I tend to enjoy even if it is pertaining to a topic I am anywhere from slightly to fanatically comprehensively informed about as well, but it just really provides that extra special oomph when it was both completely unexpected from the series and the opportunity to truly learn something new.

@Avvenirista He's still explaining what he thinks is Sonoko's behavior. He's using the gendered term to make a weird implied connection. I'm just saying he's weird.

Thanks for your insights! 🙂

Club president is definitely a strange one. I was surprised to see the girl he embarrassed smiling about the charging situation. I guess she is kind of into him after all. Also, such an extremely impractical way to charge a phone, lol.

I'm still having a hard time getting into this series. It definitely has some interesting aspects, but is just kind of boring at times.

For the Human Regeneration Study Group to slowly pack simple hand mixers for the other clubs, it generates profit in the form of meal tokens...at least to fill Sakurako and her ever-hungry stomach, though Mumu got too ambitious and got the small handheld appliance exploding in his face. At least Sakurako is "selling her body" in the form of work, so there's that.

More experimentations are at hand, though for Tenkubashi to encounter his crush from afar, and Miwa once again jumping to conclusions about Sakurako being together with Akihiro, conducting something like wireless power transmission from a pile of microwaves and putting it in a case to show his affection to the Miss University Smiling Beauty of Sonoko Kagetsu, Rokugo having to see the president act in a roundabout, yet reckless way...he still has a long way to go.

Try harder, Tenkubashi...
