This story had a lot of potential and hit most of the sad scenes right, but overall failed as a whole.
It's not exactly bad, it ends up being okay, but isn't successful in any meaning from the few themes it attempts. 5/10.

The starting premise is intriguing on its own.
A shape-shifting raccoon transforming into a deceased daughter from her memorial picture at the home of the parents,
with the goal to make humans cry for how raccoons are poorly treated as pests is great.

From the beginning, the dramatic scenes of the mother and father crying, particular the mother... is powerful.
Those sobbing scenes are executed beautifully for the most part.
From the mother seeing her daughter again, the father crying after seeing his wife happy again since their daughter passed,
to even the childhood friend never crying until she saw the raccoon play like a child unlike her who's matured alone without her best friend.

Except, then there's the dynamic of the main trio. The parents and their "false child", Yuzu's copy, now named Suika.
The false child system itself and the fact that in the end they adopt a shapeshifting raccoon transformed as their deceased daughter is a bit jarring. It's kind of weird.
They of course still hold their daughter's memory strong in the hearts, to the point of continuing to celebrate her birthday and even including her picture in a new family portrait with Suika.

... but in the end, it still feels a bit weird.
The young female raccoon has a curious ignorant uneducated child innocence which makes her constant wonder of anything and simplicity of joy cute,
but the story is so short, and her character is so basic, that the story is mostly dull.

It's charming in its own right, but too basic, too short, and fails to leave a strong proper theme of intent.
It's great how it shows four different feelings of grief.
The mother, left with yearning of seeing her daugther again, The father, feeling relief of seeing his wife normal again, with "his daughter", Her friend, realizing she won't grow up with Yuzu anymore, and Kikue just being happy to see a form of her little sister again. Suika could be somewhat included for her guilt at some point for transforming into as Yuzu.

The problems is ultimately the length and lack of depth to it all, along with the plots and some concepts.
The raccoon can even shapeshift acorn into coin, which is intriguing, but never gets explored afterwards, nor the fact that she could potentially transform into other humans, yet that would be "illegal" to the false child system, so there's that plot non-hole filled/fixed. The system and general concept itself is still weird, but whatever.
Monobe the Cat and her former Master, Kikue's story is mostly boring, but it's okay, even if it doesn't serve much.

That's practically it.
Because the story is so short, and Suika is so childish, the story doesn't have much more.
It doesn't build a strong theme of mourning, grief and accepting or moving on from passed away loved ones, nor does it greatly build the adopting of a fucking raccoon who looks like your deceased daughter. That's kinda fucked up. It's still sweet in a weird way, but still kinda sucks.

The logic of accepting the difference is that the shape-shifting animal will naturally grow on their own to fit their environment, even though they don't exactly have a real sense in example of how the deceased one would grow.
Suika even has a ghost dream with Yuzu who accepts Suika as her little sister before the parents accept her, so essentially the finale of becoming a family is fine.

... I'm still left disappointed in its potential though.
I was hoping for better, yet, even if the beginning seemed predictable which it wasn't at all, I think the cliche identity theft could have been better.
Although, the talent and length of this story to deliver was lacking regardless. Decent effort though, but still lackluster, with some good points. Oh well.
