| Not as much action like I thought it would be, but overall nice worldbuilding even though the timelapses are great. The timelapses however aren't bad. I think they reflect Frieren's perspective of things, but my goodness was that an emotional rollercoaster lol. Solid first episode :) |

| A decent start. I'm mostly watching this in between my Basara reading. Curiosity sake, of course... I'm trying to understand the popularity of the series. Is it deserved? We shall see! So far, it has a decent start. It doesn't seem as good as Dungeon Meshi, but the characters are pleasant enough. I don't notice an annoying personality off bat, so that's a good sign. It's a fantasy series, and I love fantasy. |
| A bitter sweet opening, four friends saying goodbye. A painful lesson that adventurers and soldiers have to learn, but Frieren has to suffer the curse of a longer life than mere mortals or dwarves. Wonderful start. |
| It's an okay start. I was expecting a bit more action or flashbacks though. The music is brilliant and I love the background art. Frieren pretty much shows why immortality would actually be terrible. 10 years probably feeling like 10 months and watching friends become old sounds crazy. |

So I watched the first episode of the highest-rated anime… I won’t lie, I started feeling sleepy. Not because the anime is boring, but because it’s so calm—and I was watching it late at night while lying in bed...
Also, it’s rare to see an anime use its opening theme from the very first episode. I saw all the characters in the opening—it was really intriguing.
The episode doesn’t make much sense so far; it’s completely mysterious, and I dare you to understand anything from it… So I won’t write a long comment. I’ll just say: let’s move on to the next elegant episode.

| Boring at first! The slowness deceives the viewer as to it's not something good. Then you start to hear strange nuances and subtlety in discussions. A beautiful anime, reminded me of the anime Musashi, and Violet Evergarden. |

| It only took 14 minutes into the first episode for me to start crying. boy if this whole show is going to be about thanatophobia then it's no wonder it unseated FMA & cemented itself as MAL's #1 OAT. Someone should have sold it to me like that sooner. |
