Without delving into spoilers, with the introduction of this new student be prepared to see how Dark the horror of Dark Gathering can go. There's a reason why it's R rated and 24 eps. I know manga fans have been hyping up the series but truly it becomes alot more disturbing from here on out. Also if you think you've seen any of the most dangerous ghosts be prepared to see what the ghosts we're about to see are capable. I just hope they keep up the dark atmosphere they built up with decent animation and they put more of their budget in these later eps.

When you strip the humor from Bocchi the Rock! you are still left with great animation, very well written and interesting characters, and an amazing plot. The same sadly can't be said for Dark Gathering. Like I said the horror of this anime is non-existent, but I don't even view that as a negative thing since there's not a single horror anime that's scary. The real problem I have with this anime is that it's just downright boring. The humor is bad, the characters are one dimensional, the plot is basic, and the animation is generic, bland, and flat.

What I find funny are series like Konosuba and Love is War. Bocchi is boring af imo (I dislike all-girl anime anyway), but mostly I don’t appreciate the over exaggerated depiction of social anxiety. I get comedy is subjective, just like horror is, and Bocchi is just a massive pass for me

All I’m going to say is if you don’t find the next ghost or first “main” ghost terrifying or second main, it won’t reel you in if you’re looking for a scare/looking for chills unless you’re already on board. At the end of the day, this is still also a category of shounen.
