Question regarding Sinon’s irl name

In the phantom bullet arc we’re introduced to Sinon, and we learn that she got her avatar name from combining her first and last names (or family and personal technically) Asada Shino, but I don’t see how you get Sinon from that. Kirito did the same thing with (Kiri)gaya Kazu(to), but only it makes sense with his name. I was wondering if it has something to do with a translation change made with her name originally being something different, or if I misunderstood her explanation? I tried looking it up but I couldn’t find anything.

That's pretty straightforward.
Shino -> Sinon
朝田詩乃（あさだしの） She just converted her name into Katakana and add 'n' at the end of her name - シノン
シ can also be romanized as 'si'

in the anime she said her name is deriviated from her name, not a combination of her first and last name.

It's Shino +n.
Japanese S is pronounced similar to english Sh in certain contexts due to a process called palatalization and -n can be added to female names to express affection.
Some random trivia: The S>Sh thing also happened in english and it's the reason why -ation words in english are pronounced the way they do.
