It is based on that movie but it is not literally "an anime version of Beauty and the Beast", it has some elements of The Beauty and The Beast but this movie has its own essence and the plot and the message differ totally from the Disney movie.

Honestly that was me too. It clicked when she was in the castle and she grabbed the rose. That was my “oh shoot!” moment when I realized her name was literally Belle, everyone thinks she’s beautiful, & the beast was in a castle. 🤦‍♀️
