Why tf did Kamina die? I'm on episode 8 and they just kill him off. I honestly am going to ditch this show because the main appeal for me was Kamina's amazing character and charm. Can someone tell me if Kamina gets revived or the main character rn becomes less of a fucking loser? Thank you.

Don’t worry mate, the show becomes gloomy for like 1 ep and then picks back up, it doesn’t get any worse.

This whole series is an excersize in scale.
Events that are life changing and epic become mere footnotes in the ever expanding world. It doesn't make them any less important, just part of a larger whole.

I had this same thought 7 years ago, I didnt want to continue ep 4 because I knew Kamina was gonna die. Now its one of my favourite anime, and I dont even like mecha.

Kamima dies to develop the dai gurren gang especialy Simon for after Kamina death,he becomes a completely diffrent character,also to give the message of Kamine still live on people hearts aka "even if someone dies,they will still live in the hearts of other"

Don't ditch, it honestly gets better but yeah I agree they killed him off a little to quick but Simon has good character development.

Kamina's memory and the impact he had on the rest of the characters carries the development of the whole show to where a wimpy character like simon became an absolute chad by the end of the show and the mystery of where the beastmen and gunmen come from and why they are killing humans unfolds masterfully so i highly recommend you stick with the show

This anime is about simon becoming a man, simon cant grow whilst relying on kamina. So he had to die.

He died doing what he wanted, no matter what, right? I bet he was happy.

It was very obvious that he was going to die, although it is incredible that his death has served for the development of the protagonist, the protagonist becomes so independent and mature that he doesn't look like the cowardly child that was at the beginning. Kamina was a fundamental part of the series, his emotional speeches mixed simplicity with the depth of the meaning of human life. They needed to sacrifice the character to give more life to the role of Simon

I recommend you to continue watching.
You should not stop until you will pierce the heavens, show becomes even greater than before after his death.
I also thought that it was a wrong decision to kill Kamina off, but I realized later that it gave more space for characters to progress and that pays off at the end.
