So I just finished the anime and really liked the whole experience but too many things happened in those last credits and I’m curious to read some opinions on it. I think most people would rather see that aftermath story with better development but if the only two options were : 1. A more open ending (without the whole plot of the credits and letting the viewer imagine the future) or 2. The aftermath in the credits with those messages and illustrations going from high school days to they having a baby together (what we got) what would you rather have? I personally prefer option 2 because not knowing if they actually managed to stay together would be really painful for me, so as much as everything happened way too fast, part of me got a little less stressed with that last family picture (it actually gave me a Fullmetal Alchemist : Brotherhood vibe with those pictures in the credits).

Probably something that is NOT a LINE ad.
It was basically timeskip + "they lived happily ever after".

It was kinda rushed but I still like the outcome, so I wouldn't change anything.

Pretty much most people would say they are satisfied with the ending.
Problem was the way it was presented.
The ending as is but in 1-2 Episodes or an extra OVA to wrap up the series but instead we just got a PowerPoint presentation of the events.
It’s good but it felt like time was wasted in the pseudo love triangle with the other girl that never stood a chance, that time could have been used in closing the series in a better way “animating” the ending instead of just the pictures and that huge time skip. Middle schoolers then boom married it feels disconnected.

I pretty much have no problems with the ending and just like you, I choose the 2nd option for the same reason as you. I am also okay with it not having an OVA because I feel completely satisfied with the ending.

By that i meant one extra episode ending for me at one point felt like a breakup because of the distance. In the ova they could include how they managed to reunite and keep their relationship at bay.

I like it the way it is. Although, I wouldn't mind if it had a OVA.

Even though the ending was so rushed but it was an ending i have been waiting for. But wish it had another episode or OVA in where they get married and have a child. But either way I like how they gave the detailed story of what they did in future and how did they end up. I would have been pretty sad if it were the end (without the story in credits) so whatever they did i loved the fact that they completely showed their relationship successful even if it could be have been extended upto a while (cuz i personally would love to see more of them >_< )
Anyway at the end I really enjoyed the entire anime with an expected ending (enough to make me satisfy)

But everything was clearly shown in the credits, from getting older - to get married and have a baby. So either way, I think they completed the story, even though in rush.

Yeah that's true that the ending was too rushed. But at least they ended up the story with a beautiful conclusion. Even though it could have another episode but since it doesn't , I'm satisfied with what they did at the end

Just finished it and I would say I'm very satisfied with the ending, it doesn't need to change at all.

As someone who liked the characters I prefer ending 2. Even so, ending one serves the story better and would be much more impactful. Sad ending is better for the story, happy ending is better for the viewer

The ending is pretty ok. It ends very uncertain/open, but that's sorta the point. They are jumping into something risky and uncertain, but they're doing it together. The ending doesn't need more than that. I wouldn't mind an OVA that gave us another episode of them just being cute together in Chiba or something (like what we saw in the LINE conversations), but that would just be fluff.
Is Blue Box my favorite manga? Not yet...Yes. Yes it is.

Biggest problem for me was bait-and-switching Shinkai ending for a fairytale ending. Feels good, but it's a big narrative jump which impacts it's believability.

It's the typical "happily ever after" ending... I normally prefer other endings, but the story and the love between the two was so sweet that this ending felt satisfying haha.. I felt so sorry for them that they'd have to separate and wanted to spare them the heartbreak.. it was a sweet ending, the ending that everyone dreams of :)

I wish in the end Akane had stayed in the city with Azumi- going together to municipal school, while her parents left to Chiba and ofc paying for renting the apartment.

I think middle schoolers married like that is very unrealistic, but I wanted them to be together and be happy, so I don’t care, I am taking the happy ending as is. I will absolutely not look the gift horse in the mouth lol.

@gelosxxXxx4 It did, and it is unrealistic, but I am saying that I was rooting for them so hard that I am just happy at the happy ending lol. Yes, it would have been more authentic and restrained to end it at the final scene and monologues, but it would also have hurt a lot more. So I am very happy we got that future, as unrealistic as it was. The show had spent so long being so restrained and grounded, it had earned a freebie. I have no issues with the ending.

i kinda think in the ending they fucked up and gave us some anticlimactic developments.

this strange "fight" at the river. why didnt he follow her? why didnt they talk since then? it was not even a real fight, so i seriously didnt understand that. he fuckign went to the stupid carnival train instead of saying her goodbye? come on.. fuck him.

and then he misses her at the train? really? how much better would have a real goodbye been? I seriously didnt like that at all.

i kinda liked the overall tone of the show but too much conservations were done over line.. i didnt like that part.

the powerpoint-line message ending wasnt great.....

i also didnt like that he didnt make it to her school. i mean what was the point? just to start this long distance relationship where we saw nothing off and to tell us: "hey it worked out, they are married now".

I think the ending would have worked a lot better if he would have just made it and the series would end with them being together in chiba. The drama felt kinda stupid most of the times too btw...
because there was basicaly non, and all the "fights" they had were because they just didnt talk...

btw: what were those strange after credit scenes? there was a scene in one episode where the teacher was drinking wine watching pictures of the pink haired boy and it seems she was in love with him? what the hell was that? and why?

overall i liked the show... but its still worse than a lot of other romances i watched or read...
