The general male audience hates weak MC because it reflects the sad truth of life and makes them feel hopeless. That's why Shonen genre is big hit among kids, and anime in general.

Kind of a shame there is that much hate for Yuuki anyways. He is quite literally a blank slate when the show starts. But it isn't like he doesn't improve with time. An extremely valuable support for the party anyways. But near the end of the season he was proving to be able to clear quests by himself and becoming more of a fighting force.

He's not OP on his own, but he's not exactly weak either. And he's a huge part of the comedy.


I kind of hope they don't. There's enough room to have comedic moments and yet fit in some serious elements as well. Hard to avoid the serious elements anyways considering the backgrounds and present situations of the main characters. Yuuki, Pecorine, and Kayrl especially have a lot going on that prevents the show from being entirely comedic.
