| If you consider Legend of the galactic heroes a regular novel then that would be my favorite, regular novels dont appeal to the mainstream anime audience that much but we do get a few gems like mardock scramble and shinsekai yori every now and then. |
| Howls Moving Castle and When Marnie Was There are both great novel adaptions. I'm a gross illiterate boi who don't read none so I don't really know any others. |

What about The count of monte cristo aka Gankutsuou in japanese. Since the novel was veryyyy big adapting it in an anime was a hard task so the director changed the story and plots in certain places to keep it short and in a way not altering the twists and characters in it. Still if it was on the level of Dumas novel then it would have been a real masterpiece. |
