| I haven't encountered many people who hate anime but when it comes to dislike anime I think it's either that they've only seen anime that doesn't fit their tastes, know about things that appear frequently in anime that they dislike (lolis are a good example) and the community can be pretty toxic at times. |

| When I was a kid I guess I hated anime. All I knew of it was DBZ and Sailor Moon, and I only discovered that stuff when I was already 13 or so. When I was around 21, someone showed me Cowboy Bebop, which I liked, but I was concentrating on my degree and other interests, so anime was still basically nothing but a curiosity to me. My first impactful contact with the fandom was shitty Youtube videos where people combined the song I was looking for with random clips from various shows. Annoying. Then there was 4chan, which made me suspect that people who liked anime suffered from some kind of brain damage. It all seemed so childish. Cartoons. The people I admired, army generals, politicians, businessmen, writers, philosophers, scientists... I couldn't imagine them wasting their time with anime. It's funny that it took me growing up and becoming an adult to appreciate what I once thought of as childish nonsense. |
| The plot lines are overused, the humor is disgustingly cringy, they oversaturate the use of the female anatomy to appeal to incels. Japanese people are by far the worst at story telling and they literally view rape as romantic. Everything else is already weird where I live, though sports and music are "cool" hobbies as well for both genders. Society is weird. |

I simply dislike weeaboos, incorrectness and unhealthy delusional behaviour. People who are elitists about what nation their cartoons were drawn in are bad enough but taking that elitism to the point you deny literal facts and make up your own definitions is mental illness. Weebs who spout off about cartoons being strictly comedy or immature while saying anime is mature, actively cherry picking out adult cartoons/western animations like for example A Scanner Darkly and picking out children's anime like for example Doraemon or GeGeGe no Kitaro or literal hundreds of titles shows a serious disconnect with reality. Mental illness should be exposed and offered treatment, not coddled and allowed to fester, more deeply rooting and spreading to others through social measures. |
| A lot of people relate anime to cartoons for kids, something only that children/young teens watch. They also relate it to shut in losers who don't see much sunlight. They're not far off |
