Still Can't say I care for CG anime.

Mechanical design was first rate. The Aerobodied spacecraft were all very cool.

Character rendering was pretty good, however, still with the CG plastic-ness and strange walking/arm movements. Emotion just dosent work in CG IMO, and lip syncing as well!

Physics was poor. The Bazooka could not fire one of those containers with needing to counter-fire some major reactor thrusters. The Dutchman made a banking turn as if if was in an atmosphere. Our Heroine jumped out of cover to fire at the terrorist and stopped quckly (How?)
So, Newton's Third law was ignored completely.

I still liked it. Good Action, Good near-earth Sci-Fi.

Physics were pretty bad in this. How the hell were they even able to break through the window like that so easily? The character facial expressions weren't as good as Appleseed.

Yea, bad physics. Along with sub-par character animation and motion coupled with a "by-the-book" plot. It wasn't a bad watch but it certainly wasn't great. It does get 1 kudo point from me for that little twist at the end. (Man the Japanese sure do love the idea of incest as a story element huh? >.<)

I agree. It was pretty good. The thing about her being his mother surprised me as well.

The CG style was like Vexille.

For god sakes, even Maria looked like that chick from Vexille....

And then you find out she was Dan's mother? After she kisses him...WTF

Yup, the CG wasn't that great and I also thought the physics wasn't quite right in a lot of places.

At first I thought she was his daughter-in-law when he told her that *insert name I can't remember* died. Later I though she was his wife. Lol to my surprise she's actually his mother!! lmao okay.....

for me i thought she was his daughter, but she kept calling him Dan,so i thought she might be his former lover or something, so i was surprised to find she was his mother..
i guess the kiss is just a normal kiss between a mother and her child, she can't see him that old, because it wasn't that long for her anyway..

well, i thought this anime is just one Ep ..
it might not have been as good as i expected, but it wasn't bad aether..

Hmm, I haven't read this particular short story (Elliptical Orbit) from the manga yet.

Overall, minus some awkward animation and bad physics, the idea is very good (just like most 2001 Nights stories)

It will be great if they animate (actually remake) all 19 short stories from the original manga. That would be epic...

Oh my God, maybe im too dumb for this anime, but I dont really understand why the terrorists wanted to bom the moon and later on, I dont understand what the terrorists wanted to achieve by firing at the ship...

Could someone please explain it to me.

They simply want to kill the resources and a lot of people since many of them died during the last war. They fired at the ship to supposedly destroy the systems to immobilize it....

Again, it's not very clear.

Wow, that's a harsh way of putting it, but...yes...at least there was affection there, haha.

I was trying to do the math to figure out the relationship between Dan and Maria, but I didn't quite get it. At first I thought they were lovers, his son was their's, and he had re-married while she was gone. Then when it showed the scene of the ship taking off for the first time and you could see how young he was, I thought they had been young lovers. In short, I really wasn't expecting her to be his mother XD

You have to wonder if she got the memo in cosmonaut training about being passed around between a bunch of dudes on long term space missions. :O

seriously, the men from her crew have been taking turns sleeping with her for almost 6 years and they will continue to do so! and that kiss at the very end with her son wasn't normal too :s

It was rather okey, sometimes a full CGI anime can have something though not always the best results are delivered this way, lets see what the second episode has to offer!

It should be interesting to see your young mother fucking with the whole crew. And still see one of them coming out of her room.

Extremely confusing relationships here. At first I thought Maria was Dan's daughter-in-law, and her fiance/husband (Dan's son) died in the "African War", then I thought she was actually Dan's wife, then I find out she's apparently his mother? Aging in space is crazy. Well at least Dan got some loving too in the end; he must've been feeling left out from knowing she "comforted" the rest of her crew already.

Other than that, it's a simple plot focusing on terrorists appropriating a space vessel, and how their plans are foiled. However, the character relationships are entertaining, mainly because of how this anime keeps surprising you with their dynamics.
