Top Anime list - unaired shows

What's the deal with ranking shows that haven't aired yet? On one side we have a new season of Gintama that airs tomorrow, and on the other side we have One Punch Man that airs in October. Yet somehow they got rated and are included in the MAL Top list. also why are people even rating shows that haven't even aired? never change MAL, never change

I know I know, nobody cares about the MAL Top list, but it only makes the Top list look even more ridiculous.

This was already addressed recently multiple times, they're going to fix it so scores in your ptw doesn't count, there, no more discussion.

This is a replicate thread, but I think that it's a very good thing for them to be bombed with replicate threads about this since they seem to be taking forever to fix it. A mod had posted on March 26th in a related thread that the PtW scores would no longer affect ratings. From an outsider perspective, the logic for how they do scoring seems really convoluted. Is there a compelling reason why the code doesn't just have a section that basically says:

if InitialAirDate > CurrentDate
showRating = 0.00

???

Well, you you can have an anime that unaired in your completed list. Not that I find this to be a big deal, just saying.
