| AFAIK yokai is an actual japanese phrase mostly used like "Yessir!" ...probably means "Acknowledged!" or something but is definitely military/polic jargon. |
| it's not "yokai", it's "ryoukai" 了解 【りょうかい】 (n,vs) comprehension, consent, understanding, roger (on the radio), (P) while no "yokai" is found, a "youkai" is...well, all Inuyasha or supernatural anime fans would know by now. |

| Mmm, these aren't Engrish, most of them are gairaigo (loan words), which are just foreign words transliterated into Japanese. It's the same as saying "sushi" or "teriyaki" in English (as in, words borrwed from Japanese... it would be vice-versa in gairaigo). And there's already a list of Gairaigo/Wasei-Eigo on Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_gairaigo_and_wasei-eigo_terms Anyway, I don't think you can create an Engrish dictionary in a true sense, because Engrish is only Engrish when it doesn't mean anything or when it means something the creator didn't intend it to mean. Like... uh, I have a jacket that says "coming man" on it. Now, someone fluent in English will probably imagine something NSFW, but, the creator probably meant it to mean "becoming man" or "becoming manly." | haha u guys are fun.. but it's really scary for me coz i have to converse with japanese classmates everyday.. so almost everyday i'm using engrish ^^; if i use proper english, they dont understand wat i'm trying to say.. haha.. for example: Juice- Juusu (and in Japan, Juusu means carbonated/canned/bottled drinks most of the time lol. the first month i was in japan, i was like.. wow everyone is so healthy.. they drink juice everyday ^^;;;) Milk- Miruku My car- Maikaa(the usage of this is sooo weird.. u'll understand if u live in japan) Pierced earrings- Piasu Bag- Baggu Rich- Ricchi Vitamin- Bitamin Sale- Seeru will post more when i feel like it |

It's the same as saying "sushi" or "teriyaki" in English (as in, words borrwed from Japanese... it would be vice-versa in gairaigo). yea, officially that's how it is.. but imo, japanese hv one of the worst sense when they transliterate foreign words.. of course in english, some ppl mispronounce assimilated japanese words too.. but that's because they Don't Know the correct pronounciation, while in Japanese it's not that they Don't Know, but it's that they Can't pronounce it correctly most of the time. that's the reason it's funny of course. Well, i dont deny the fact that one problem with their pronounciation is that they only learn Roman Characters starting from Middle High.. so all the 'gairaigo' they know until Middle High is in Katakana.. it's a shame.. japanese are smart, but very easily influenced by the country's system. |
