A perfect combination of love and strength, anime mothers always know best!
Where would this world be if not for mothers? No one can shower more love and affection on an offspring than they can. They slave and toil, save the last slice of pie so that their child might enjoy it, not even taking a bite for themselves.
In anime, this love is multiplied, with mothers willing to give up even their lives to protect their dear children. Here's a list of some of the most outstanding anime mothers.

Chi-Chi from Dragon Ball Z
Ten missed calls from an angry mother is enough to set anyone's heart racing, but that fear is especially horrific if your super saiyan dad is afraid of her. Chi-chi is a strong and stubborn mother, who won't take no for an answer and who worries more about the education of her child and the safety of her husband as opposed to the destruction and survival of the planet. She goes through every means necessary to stop her son from following in his father's dangerous footsteps, grounding him on every occasion. But her intentions are pure, as that of a true anime mother, with only the love for her sons and husband filling her heart.
Sanae Furukawa from Clannad
Despite being childish and a crybaby at times ( when someone makes fun of her bread), Sanae Furukawa is a strong-willed and dependable woman, who cherishes her husband and daughter. She enjoys being mistaken as Nagisa's older sister, given her youthful appearance.
Trisha Elric, wife of the alchemist, Van Hohenheim, mother to the main protagonists of the show, is described as a sweet and gentle woman. She takes care of her children after her husband abandons her, all the while pining and hoping he returns to her. But she does not live long and passes away after a brief illness, leaving behind two grief stricken children who try to resurrect her using alchemy.
Mama Higurashi from Inuyasha
Although this not be her true name, it sounds perfect for the mother of Kagome who loves her daughter and supports every decision that she makes. She comforts Kagome during every period of turmoil, and plants the seed of hope in her heart. She packs food for the entire group every time Kagome makes a trip from the Feudal era back to her own time and also gifts her daughter a bicycle to make her travels easier. A full time single mother who devotes her life to her kids and family, Mama Higurashi is one of the most heartwarming anime mothers on this list.
Noriko Irie, the mother of the handsome and ice cold protagonist of the show, Naoki Irie, is generally a sweet and kind hearted woman, who whole-heartedly supports Kotoko's love for Naoki. Despite getting into endless trouble with her spying and antics to keep other girls from getting interested in her son, she bounces right back to form and carries on with her goal to make sure Kotoko ends up as her daughter-in-law.
Carla Yaegar loves both her children and her husband dearly, and even tries to forbade Eren from joining the Survey Corps as she fears for his safety. She constantly worries about them, and when the time comes, this anime mother makes the ultimate sacrifice for her family.
Delia Ketchum is the mother of the main protagonist of the show, Ash Ketchum. Who wouldn’t love a mother who doesn’t ask them to wake up or force them to go to school? Delia's only worry is that her son has clean underwear to wear every day. She is beautiful and caring and raises him single handedly after her husband disappears right after their marriage. She is a devoted supporter of Ash's journey to become the number one Pokemon trainer.
Junko Kaname is a top notch businesswoman with a classy dressing sense who likes going out for drinks with her coworkers. She also cares deeply about her daughter, Madoka Kaname, and cherishes their conversations. This anime mother balances her love for Madoka perfectly, giving her daughter time to figure things out on her own, but also jumping in to lend a helping hand and some motherly advice when needed.
Yukiko Kudou is an eccentric actress, a connoisseur of disguises, and a willful mother. Often described as an attention seeker, she follows her son around during his cases and tries to keep an eye on him, even going to the point of causing him embarrassment on occasions. But despite all this, she is very protective and loyal to her son and husband, and is a wonderful anime mother.
Despite becoming a mother to two half human, half wolf children at a young age and losing her beloved husband soon after, Hana bravely struggles to raise the two hyperactive and adorable kids. Although she's left alone to raise them, she bears no resentment towards them and is intensely devoted to her children.
The incarnation of the Moon Goddess Serene, Queen Serenity has her hands full with looking after the safety of the Silver Crystal and in raising her daughter to be a suitable heir. But after the loss of her daughter and subjects in the war, she makes the ultimate sacrifice and uses the crystal to allow her daughter to be reborn.
Yasuko Takasu from Toradora!
Though she's portrayed as an irresponsible drunk who makes her son clean up after her, Yasuko Takasu is more than what meets the eye. After her husband dies, she takes the sole responsibility of raising her son and putting him through school, which ends up with her taking on various jobs to meet the expenses and make ends meet. She is very caring, sweet, and often naive, but very affectionate towards her only son.
Kushina Uzumaki from Naruto
Kushina blossomed into a beautiful, level headed adult, when compared to her more eccentric and feisty self.
