April 17th, 2015
So yeah, I wanted to copy my entry here just in case I delete everything by accident on the original post (editing a long post is scary!). Below is the draft of what I watched/plan to watch, and I'll put a link to the original post here.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sounds fun!

☆ Starting date: 04/04/2015
☆ Completed anime: 1152 (at sign-up)
☆ Link to your list: Tempalca
☆ Personal Rule: Movies Only (if applicable).
In purple are challenges I've added, because watching 40 movies only would be boring!
In orange are related titles, they don't have to be movies, but I'll watch them because, well, I want to. I call it Bonus stuff.
In gray are my comments after watching.
In red is simply the mention of RAW, when... well, when I watched the movie RAW. (Captain Obvious give me power!)
In green are things I Plan To Watch (PTW).
In blue are completed titles.

☆ Difficulty: Harder !
☆ Challenge list:

Type
[] Watch a movie - Shingeki no Kyojin Movie 1 : Guren no Yumiya RAW (8/10)
[] Watch a short anime - Cross Road RAW (8/10)
i.e. 15 minutes per episode or less
[] Watch an ONA - Rain Town (7/10)
 [] Watch an OVA - PTW :
 [] Watch a special - PTW :
[] Watch a music video - Sangatsu no Lion meets Bump of Chicken (by Bump of Chicken) (6/10)
» [I really liked the music, I prefer their latest title Colony or older ones like Hana no Na, Tomodachi no Uta, Karma or Zero but Fighter is good too. And the manga seems interesting, I hope it'll get a proper anime one day. But all in all, I've seen better music videos. Animation is not that impressive, and it's hard to get a feel of the story with the way images are put together.]
[] Watch an award-winning work - Kappa no Coo to Natsuyasumi (2007 Mainichi Film Award for Best Animation Film) (7/10)
tip: check Wikipedia or AniDB for ideas
[] Watch a notoriously bad anime - PTW : Mars of Destruction OVA

Creators
[] Watch an anime with a character voiced by one of your favorite seiyuu - Rakuen Tsuihou : Expelled From Paradise (Kamiya Hiroshi) (7/10)
» [The movie was ok I guess, but Kamiya Hiroshi's voice really improved it. I mean, Kugimiya Rie is an amazing VA too, but I don't feel the role did her justice. Frontier Setter on the other hand just beat Wall-E as most huggable robot ever for me.]
[] Watch an anime by a director/composer/studio you like - Tenjou-jin to Akuto-jin Saigo no Tatakai (KyoAni - studio) (9/10)
» [Wow, I seriously loved it. The heroine starts with an Air/Clannad feels, and towards the end she had a moment as badass as Matoi Ruuyko from Kill La Kill. Munto being so full of himself yet so prince-like, and Ono Daisuke voicing him. The setting being half fantasy half real world. Saving two worlds from destruction with the power of the Heart, it's so cheesy but I don't care! The fighting in the first 20 min. I want more! I hope the series and the OVA are as good. I wonder why I never paid attention to this earlier]
  [] Aa! Megami-sama! Movie (Uematsu Nobuo - composer) (7/10)
» [Okay, first it was a good movie. I rate it as a high 7 or low 8 but I had to choose a number. The whole thing was somewhere between Chobits and CardCaptor Sakura. Chobits for the romance being a bit more mature, CCSakura for the girly transformation/powers/wings everywhere. It didn't feel as serious as either of them though. I enjoyed it, and I'll probably check the main series someday. I didn't notice Uematsu-san's touch though, I barely noticed the songs]
  [] Maroko (Oshii Mamoru - director) (6/10)
» [I... Does this qualify for the dementia genre? I mean, I love listening to people arguing over useless nonesense. I do, Bakemonogatari is in my favorites and all but... It wasn't exactly fun, or beautiful. The pacing wasn't interesting. I probably won't remember the characters tomorrow but... I guess it was fine. I tried liking this movie more but it doesn't seem to work for me]
[] Watch an early work of an established anime staff member (10+ roles) - Lupin III: Cagliostro no Shiro (Miyazaki Hayao : his first work as movie director, if I'm not wrong) (7/10)
» [A basic "hero saves the trapped princess" story, I can't really put my finger on it, but you can somehow feel that it's a Miyazaki. I watched some Lupin III episodes dubbed *どうかお許して下さい* when I was a kid so I know the basics but that's it.]

Years
[] Watch an anime that started the year you joined MAL or later - Scryed Alteration I : Tao (2011) (7/10)
[✔] Scryed Alteration II : Quan
» [An everyday shounen, nothing special though the characters are likeable. The second movie has the coolest friendly fight I've seen except of course from Naruto/Bleach/One Piece. Ask me next week what Scryed is about I won't remember, but it was a good entertainement.]
 [] Watch an anime that meets the ½(your age) + 7 rule - Ouritsu Uchuugun : Honneamise no Tsubasa (I'm 28 so : ½(28) + 7 = 21 making it 1994 or earlier and this movie is 1987) (8/10)
» [The version I watched was probably remastered because it looked pretty good for an 87 movie. ----- Wait a sec, this movie is only 28 years old. It's still young, yep, basically a newborn. It wasn't a remastered or anything, things from 87 still look sexy! ----- I really liked the mood, the theme is so outdated yet still valid... I know that doesn't make any sense but it was a weird slow movie I'd easily recommend.]
  e.g. if you're 20 now: ½(20) + 7 = 17, so the anime must have finished in 1998 or earlier

Tags
[] Watch an anime with a main cast (3+ characters) of only one gender - PTW : Sengoku Basara Movie : The Last Party (male)
  [] Top wo Nerae! & Top wo Nerae 2! Gattai Movie!! (female) (Gunbuster : 7/10) - (Diebuster : 9/10) - (Total : 8/10)
» [Gunbuster Movie : I need to find another title for this. As far as I can tell, from this first movie only, it was only 2 female main. I'll watch the second movie to confirm, but I'll keep it here until then. EDIT : Yep, I'll keep it especially considering it's a shared universe. It's really a classic on so many levels, but because of that, you can feel it's age.]
» [Diebuster Movie : I consider it fits the challenge. But first let me just says this movie was really great. You can tell there's some FLCL and Tengen Toppa Guren Lagann. My badass meter went crazy : the Goddess of the Solar System and a girl that can move planets! Even in fiction, is that even allowed? Nono made it to my favorite characters. If a third series ever comes out, I'd definitely watch it! (It's like one every 15 years, right? right? - That would be fun actually!)]

[] Watch an anime that focuses on non-romantic relationships - PTW : Flanders no Inu (Movie)
[] Watch an anime with children in it - Stand By Me Doraemon (8/10)
[] Watch an anime targeted at a certain demographic - Arion (seinen) Cancer Subs (5/10)
» [This movie is wrong on so many levels... And I don't mean morally, I don't care about the siscon that runs in the family, killing people that stand in front of your sword is perfectly normal (even if they're just passing by) and after all kidnapping your nephew to raise him in hell just so he can kill your brother is just a mean for an end. BUT! Mythologically, this movie is all over the place. Ares is a loser, Athena is a wh**e, Zeus is some pussy King of the Titans, Poseidon rides on a freaking boat! Apollo is a sadistic son of a... this one is ok actually. And honestly, I don't mind new characters. Arion and Resphiina could be interesting if their origin was less of a tangled mess. I'll accept that an old human king is more powerful than most of the Titans. It could have been a fun fantasy story in a different setting. Or not. The hero either loses pathetically (only to be saved by little girls) or cuts through armies of people probably made of butter. I guess that's what I get for trying something different.]
[] Star Driver The Movie (shounen) (7/10)
» [A little confusing but interesting. I think this sums up everything I could say about this movie.]
[] Hengen Taima Yakou Karura Mau! Nara Onryo Emaki (shoujo) (7/10)
» [I love these stories, I think it's the reason I got into anime in the first place. Onmyouji/Exorcists/Reikan ga Aru hito... One of the first kanji I checked was Ayakashi/Youkai. And I'm surprised I never heard of this one considering it's quite... bloody. Sure, they act like a cheap horror movie, but that exotic culture feel is great. I think this one is closer to horror than the shoujo I'm used to but since it's clearly not a shounen/seinen/josei, I guess it's ok.]
[] PTW : Petshop of Horrors (josei) TV
[] PTW : Sore Ike! Anpanman : Ruby no Negai (kodomomuke)
[] Watch an anime with a non-human main character - PTW : Heisei Tanuki Gassen Ponpoko (tanuki)
[] Watch an adventure, action OR sports anime - PTW : Coo : Tooi Umi kara Kita Coo (adventure)
  [] Genma Taisen (action) (7/10)
» [This is an interesting movie. Some might complain about the still images and the pretty simple plot but it has a real charm. I must admit, I'm biaised because I've probably already seen a few minutes of this movie a very long time ago. I thought I'd never find out what this was. I chose to watch this movie not knowing it was something I was looking for, I only realised at 75% of the duration I think, when Jo is saved by Tao. Still, I'm not exactly sure it's really this movie but it seems like it. Anyway, I liked the setting, the story, even some characters' relationships. Sure, It's not the greatest movie ever, but it's about Psionic/Psychic Warriors! Isn't that enough to make the movie worth watching?]
[] Yawara! Sore Yuke Koshinuke Kids!! (sport : judo) (6/10)
» [I actually learned two things about judo, which is good. The main series is supposed to be about Yawara-san but in this movie she had a surprisingly secondary role.]
[] Watch a mystery, dementia OR psychological anime - PTW : Kara no Kyoukai : Mirai Fukuin (mystery)
[] PTW : Kaze no Na wa Amnesia (dementia)
[] PTW : Darkside Blues (psychological)
[] Watch an anime about food, music OR art - Nitaboh (music) (8/10)
[] Hana Yori Dango (Movie) (art : dance) (6/10)
» [I don't know much about the main series, I've never seen an episode of it, just read about it in reviews and stuff, but the alternate setting was interesting. The dance school setting is quite rare in Anime, but considering the countless movies that focus on dance, it doesn't feel strange to watch. I wish it could have been a full 1hr30 or 2hrs movie to get proper developpement but I guess it served it's purpose : I'm interested in the franchise. I'll probably check the live action drama one day. The funny thing is, nothing actually happened in this movie but it was fine to watch.]
[] PTW : Oishinbo : Kyuukyoku Tai Shikou, Chouju Ryouri Taiketsu!! (food)
[] Watch a thriller anime - Imawa no Kuni no Arisu OVA partially RAW (7/10)
» [It's not as deep as Gantz or other survival I've seen, but the mood and the characters were interesting. Arisu is clearly not that dark/evil which is fresh. But 3 episodes is not enough. It could have been a good 12eps.]
[] Watch an anime with the police, samurai OR vampire tag - PTW : Armitage III Polymatrix (police)
  [] PTW : Vampire Hunter D (vampire)
[] PTW : Afro Samurai Movie (samurai)
[] Watch an anime with the cars, demons OR martial arts tag - PTW : Street Fighter Zero : The Animation (martial arts)
  [] PTW : Tailenders (cars)
[] PTW : Bayonetta : Bloody Fate (demons)
[] Watch a historical OR military anime - Glass no Usagi (historical) (6/10)
[] Blue Gender : The Warrior (military) (6/10)
[] Watch a slice of life OR comedy anime OR romance - Tamako Love Story (comedy) (8/10)
[✔] Minami no Shima no Dera-chan
[] PTW : Shin Kimagure Orange☆Road: Soshite, Ano Natsu no Hajimari (slice of life)
[] Marmalade Boy Movie (romance) RAW (6/10)
» [It was sweet but didn't feel like a movie, more like a special prologue. And seriously, the parents are messed up. Falling in love again happens, it's perfectly normal, but switching partners is a bit of a stretch.]
 [] Watch a horror, sci-fi OR fantasy anime - Gyo (horror) (7/10)
» [WTH did I just watch?!]
[] PTW : Toki no Tabibito : Time Stranger (sci-fi)
[] PTW : Harukanaru Toki no Naka de : Maihitoyo (fantasy)
[] Watch a drama, school OR parody anime - Giovanni no Shima (drama) (6/10)
[] Aki no Kanade (school) (6/10)
» [It was ok, but it's quite short for the story it's trying to tell. It's basically a girl reminiscing her childhood as she comes home. Too bad we didn't get to see her training everyone for the festival, or reconnecting with her friends.]
[] PTW : Hetalia Axis Powers Movie : Paint it, White (parody)
[] Watch a supernatural, super power OR magic anime - K : Missing Kings (super powers) RAW (8/10)
» [This movie was pretty, in so many ways. I feel like the story telling wasn't on par, but it's a complex story nonetheless and it's a real continuation of the first season. I managed to understand because I've seen the series, but I would have miss a lot - about the Kings and who's with who and why some people are fighting and what the Aka no Ou meant to his people - so this is a perfect exemple of a movie that should be watched after the series. I didn't get this problem with other titles for the Challenge yet as of 04/25/15.]
  [] Kyoukai no Kanata : Kako-hen (supernatural) (8/10)
» [I did love the series, and this is "just" a recap. But seeing it all again just reminds me how many good points this franchise has. I love the characters, love the action, it's visually beautiful, the animation is fun, the romance is extremely sweet, and the humor stops it from being a pure angst show. I can't wait for the Mirai-hen! And more Akki!]
[] PTW : .hack//The Movie: Sekai no Mukou ni (magic)
 [] Watch an ecchi, harem, shounen-ai OR shoujo-ai - Shoujo Kakumei Utena : Adolescence Mokushiroku (shoujo-ai) (7/10)
  [] PTW : Natsu e no Tobira (shounen-ai)
[] PTW : Strike Witches Movie (ecchi)
[] PTW : Hayate no Gotoku! Heaven Is a Place on Earth (harem)
[] Watch an anime that is tagged with a genre you dislike - Sora no Otoshimono : Tokeijikake no Angeloid (ecchi/harem) (7/10)
» [There was barely any ecchi and the harem is questionable so I might need to get another entry for this]
[+] PTW : Sora no Otoshimono Final : Eternal My Master
[] Watch an anime that does not take place primarily in Japan, but is still within our universe - Nasu : Andalusia no Natsu (Spain) (8/10)
» [Turned out unexpectedly good]
[+] PTW : Nasu : Suitcase no Wataridori
[] Watch an anime that has a non-japanese main character - Inochi no Chikyuu : Dioxin no Natsu (italian kids) RAW (6/10)
[] Watch an anime that has a main character that is a professional in his field (e.g. doctor, detective) - PTW : You're Under Arrest! The Movie (police officer)
[] Watch an anime with an archetype as a main character (e.g. megane, tsundere) - PTW : Persona 4 The Animation : The Factor of Hope (megane)
  [] PTW : Project A-ko (genki girl : Kotobuki Shiiko/C-ko)
[] Watch an anime with a character/setting that you can relate to - Aura : Maryuuinkouga Saigo no Tatakai (8/10)
» [It's been a while since I couldn't rate an anime straight after watching. I'll probably need a few days... EDIT : Done]

Adaptations

  [] PTW : Hakuouki Movie 1 / 2 (2 parts)

   [✔] Sekaiichi Hatsukoi : Valentine-hen
[] Dragon Age : Blood Mage no Seisen (game) RAW (4/10)
» [Okay... I just wasted one hour twenty nine minutes and ten seconds of my life, but whatever]
[] Akage no Anne : Green Gables e no Michi (novel) RAW (6/10)
» [あの子ほんとうにうるさい。そしてなんとなくくろまくに見える、「けいかくどおり」ってかんじ。Well, it wasn't a bad movie, just old. And I'm not sure why MAL lists it as a 2010 movie? Because there's nothing from 2010 in this : animation, VA, drawing, storytelling, it's all from 79.]
