Synopsis

A mysterious device crashes on planet Earth, causing a wildfire near where Gohan Son, Kuririn, Bulma, and Oolong are camping. Unable to fully save the forest, they decide to use the Dragon Balls to restore it to its previous condition. A few days later, a group of unknown warriors plant a seed where the mysterious device had crashed, sprouting a colossal tree that destroys the forest and neighboring cities in the process.

North Kaio contacts Gokuu Son and tells him that this tree is the "Shinseiju"—a tree that absorbs all the nutrients in the planet and leaves it a barren wasteland, all the while growing a mighty fruit capable of providing incredible power to anyone who eats it. After learning of this, Gokuu and his friends try destroying the tree before it is too late, but that may prove to be more difficult than they had previously imagined.

Another Dragon Ball Z movie, another improvement on the ones I've watched before. This makes 4 in a row!!! This one is especially surprisingly - it turned out to be quite a good action anime overall, and not just compared to the other movies of the franchise. As far as fighting anime go, it's certainly not quite as the same level as the Street Fighter 2 animated movie, but still it's pretty good.

The action is quite absorbing for once, consisting of more than just ultra fast punching sequences, and the story is actually slightly more sophisticated than the usual "here's a new boss, now read more

Well it's a Dragon Ball Z movie. We have cute young Gohan and a little purple dragon. I really enjoyed some of the cuter scenes. The fight scenes are decent, but less exciting than most of the other movies. Plot line is good, it mostly focuses on Gohan and Goku. We do get to see the other characters, Chi-chi, Piccolo, Krillin, the little pig thing, King Kai, and some others. It's a pretty short movie and could easily be watched by someone who has never even seen Dragon Ball Z before without confusion.

The art style is typical of the older Dragon Ball Z episodes and read more

You probably know DBZ films aren't 'canon' (non-canon = anime original, events of this movie doesn't happen in manga or LN), and people view them in very different opinions. Some people like these movies, others hate them.

I like the Tree of Might, there are things that I dislike, which are dragging this movie down. However, in comparison to other DBZ movies, I think these negatives are mostly minor. So, let's get into the review.

My Positives:
1, Art style and music are basically DBZ, looks good and sounds good as well.
2, The idea of a tree that devours the planet ecosystem to have a special power-enhancing read more

On my quest to watch and review all the Dragon Ball Z films, I'd been feeling pretty good about their quality after watching Dead Zone and The World's Strongest, wondering if they weren't as bad as I thought they'd be. Tree of Might ground that idea to a halt and made me a lot more worried about the quality I'll be expecting in the near future - since this seems to be one of the better regarded ones.

Tree of Might features the coming of Turles, a Saiyan warrior who bares a near exact resemblance to our hero Goku, and his planting of a 'Tree of read more
