If you want a combination of all the popular isekai anime in one anime (plus the cliche moments), this anime is for you.

You will be screaming "SAO SAO SAO" in your head for the first few minutes of the start of the anime. This anime makes it's background story based on the first arc of sword art online, and then somewhat converts it into a Overlord type of theme, where the mc starts to feel that this isn't a game anymore and is a reality and the npc convert into real people.

After that, the mc just starts to do cliche anime stuff like saying ... "I am just a ordinary adventurer" after doing something incredible. It combines all the features of 6+ mal rated isekai anime's main character and gives us a OP main character who has literally no aim.

So, this anime is a great time passer, but if you are looking for a real story with real ground breaking plots, then this anime is definitely the one to put in your trash list.

I've been sitting here trying to come up with an apt enough description to explain just how painfully average this show is but am lacking the skill and knowledge. Main theme is guy stuck in VR game and is as close to god as any character will get, but at the same time dumb enough not to be able to read females.

Well, that's not entirely true, main theme is plot convenience. Every single time there's a doubt to be had or some sort of conundrum you can rest assured writers came up with the laziest solution possible and wished it into existence without paying much ... attention to story line. Oh there's a big undead immune to all the physical and magical attacks, good thing there's this one specific spell our MC is master at called "bla bla bla holy bla". Papufff, everything's dead in one shot and allies healed. What's that, sword is cracking? Oh good thing MC is the best blacksmith in entire history. He feels lonely, oooh look a cabin he left 500 years ago is still there looking the same way even though we are later explained there were seismic shifts to the land.

And it keeps going like that. Whenever there's a need, something is willed into existence in most lazy way. He's the all mighty, all knowing, all capable, best of the best, known for centuries and adored by all who happen to have big breasts. But he asks everyone not to reveal his greatness because that's what anime fans like.

It's not even power fantasy because there's no buildup for anything. He sees shiny thing, he kills shiny thing. Moves on to next shiny thing.

Can't recommend this one. I know we are far from over, but it's expected that writers will put their best foot forward and if first four episodes are indicative of what's to come we just might have a candidate for most forgettable character yet and most boring story so far.

This is my first time writing a review, and I've read the manga so I will most likely be somewhat biased.

The show is okay. That pretty much sums it up. While the source was generic, the character relationships and fun, cozy vibe set it apart somewhat. On the other hand, the anime rushes through the pacing and cuts out fairly important details just to get to the next major plot point.

The art is fairly generic, but it's pleasant to look at. The animation is fairly lacking, but it's good enough. You won't see flashy fight scenes, but it does the job.

This is NOT ... a SAO clone. Unfortunately, the way the anime presented it may seem like it is. The cliches do exist, especially at the start, but they should get less and less common as the story progresses. The death game part, while seemingly redundant, is important for the protagonist's development later on. The anime most likely won't get to that point though. The pacing has gotten better in episode 3, so hopefully it stays that way. The manga starts out slow, but picks up after that. The anime seems to plan to rush through the start, which I don't particularly like but we'll see how it fares.

Overall, it's a fairly generic show with decent animation. The main appeal is the relaxing, fun slice of life atmosphere of the character's adventures with the rest of the cast. Plus, it's always fun to see someone completely overpowered beat things up. If you're looking for a unique, deep plot or similar you won't find it here. I'd recommend it if you just want another entertaining show with a fun cast and don't mind it being generic.

Really enjoying this so far.

Take SAO, replace Kirito, give all players companion NPCs and then let the world go on after the players log out. Now enter OP years later and actually go into the fact the NPCs were self-conscious and now got autonomous, while the world advanced in that time. This is what makes it interesting.

If you want a bog standard Isekai with an OP hero, where the Isekai actually has a point to the plot, then go for it. Good for an Isekai, obviously.

The manga crowd is complaining that the source material is better, so maybe give that ... a shot too.

Without a doubt, this is the most average isekai anime this season. It's not overly good nor overly bad to the point of being funny. It's a very standard isekai anime with barely any aspect that stands out. But does that make this anime bad? Absolutely not. The only things that make this anime "bad" are just how generic it is. An anime doesn't need to be original; it only needs to be good at what it's trying to do. But the thing is, this anime is not good either; it's decent at best.

Here we have the most basic-looking MC with the most basic-looking outfit, ... which kinda reminds me of a certain black swordsman. On the plus side, he's actually a nice guy and not an edgy murderous psychopath, which is good because having a nice, dependable, and strong main character is far better than having a literal piece of shit as the MC.

The heroines are pretty; some were definitely designed to be sexy and marketed as waifuable characters. But it's just as basic as it gets, likable but nothing special.

It has some tender and wholesome moments in each episode.

The opening song is also a very standard-sounding song for a fantasy anime.

The animation is... boring; the fight scenes are not that good, but again, they're not laughably bad either.

Overall, this anime is more like an anime you would recommend to newbie watchers to start with before they move on to heavier stuff. It's not really recommended to people who actually seek a good story or people who don't have much time on their hands. But even if you do, I don't really recommend this either since there are "better" isekai airing this season. But if you like watching an anime about a nice, strong guy being a nice, strong guy and want to please your eyes with some sexy anime babes, you may or may not give this anime a try.
