NieR:Automata Ver1.1a Part 2

As the machine war progresses, YoRHa Command and the Resistance prepare for a final decisive assault against the "Machine Lifeforms," the militarized robots who roam the earth's surface. While preparations are underway, YoRHa 9-gou S-gata "9S" and YoRHa 2-gou B-gata "2B" continue their advanced scouting mission. However, 9S and 2B struggle with their respective roles, their loyalty to each other, and their loyalty toward Command.

Although the nefarious Adam and Eve have been defeated, it appears the machines are not down for the count. An ominous presence in the form of the "Red Girl" continues to observe the androids from afar, waiting for the perfect opportunity to attack them.

Preliminary (6/12 eps)

I'm kind of confused that this doesn't have a temporary review yet so here goes.

If you liked the first part you will like this one even more. This is where the meat of the game was and the adaptation is doing a great job translating the game to a non interactive medium.
Animation quality is in my opinion better then season one and the show knows when to go all out.
Soundtrack is always on point and even better utilized then in season one.
The story does stay pretty much on course with a few deviations that already setup in part one and it is ... the strong part of the show.
That being said, from here on out the story is very very rough and goes into some pretty heavy stuff while still trying to give a few hopefull perspectives along the way.
Fans of the game might enjoy that there's plenty of side story/novella content being adapted that wasn't in the game (or just on terminals) and there are a few easter eggs to the Nier Reincarnation gacha game as well.
The people that make this show are clearly fans of the work that they are adapting and are paying homage to many key moments of the game within the show and I absolutely appreciate their dedication to doing it justice. Especially the title card and bunker scene at the beginning of the season.

Overall: I absolutely love the adaptation and hope that they get their production issues fixed and am exited if it concludes the way the game does or if they do something entirely different.
