Oroka na Tenshi wa Akuma to Odoru

Kanaten on the surface seems like it might be just another generic romcom. After all, it is obviously based on the centuries old template of Romeo and Juliet, with the forbidden love of enemies, an Angel and Demon, falling for one another, and with the initial reaction to this anime I was concerned the adaptation had been massively screwed up. Having been following the manga this is based on for nearly five years, I can safely say that isn't the case. This adaptation kicks ass and greatly exceeds my expectations.

The most simple description of Kanaten would be a romantic comedy with action elements. The romance ... aspect is great; Akutsu and Lily have fantastic on screen chemistry that grows very naturally feeling. No step of their relationship feels forced. The comedy is top notch, think Cromartie High School with a mix of the competitiveness between the leads like in Kaguya: Love is War. The fight scenes, which are Angels vs Demons in nature, are much better than any RomCom has any business being.

As for the adaptation aspect, all the characters look and sound great. The studio did an amazing job bringing the manga to life. The jokes translated so much better from the manga than I thought they would. Animation wise it's REALLY good for a RomCom, I was actually surprised and impressed with a lot of the scenes. All of the voice actors really nailed their roles; everyone sounded great for the characters they were playing.

All in all, Kanaten is in my opinion, the best romantic comedy anime to come out in years, and judging by the current score is extremely underrated. If you like romance, anime humor, some action scenes, this will give you the fix you're looking for. I hope you'll give it a shot. My personal score as a longtime fan is a 9/10, but even someone new to the series will find plenty to enjoy.

Oroka na Tenshi wa Akuma to Odoru is, at its heart, a manga that is tied to its mangaka. Azuma Sawayoshi got his start as a doujinshi author. With that foundation, Sawayoshi utilized his experience in drawing Oroka with extremely suggestive tones--ahegao, sex jokes, and (oftentimes outdated) memes being peppered throughout. This created an extremely funny and unique manga that managed to capture not just fun character interactions, but well-drawn panels.

With that preface, one would hope that whatever studio sought to adapt Sawayoshi's work would take as much time and care into capturing the spirit of the original work. Those hopes were crushed when Children's ... Playground Entertainment released its product.

Obviously, with an adaptation of a series I'm quite fond of, it's impossible to be unbiased. Despite that, I will go so far as to say that while this may not be the *worst* adaptation of a manga, it is certainly one of the worst that I have ever seen.

Gone are many of the expressive faces that pepper the story. Gone are the sex-jokes, suggestive gags, and strange conversations that gave the original material life. Gone are entire chapters, many of which, while not critical, provide some much needed characterization to an otherwise already-rushed story. If the opening is to be believed, this production is going to attempt to compress 63 chapters into 12 episodes. Not only is this a foolish venture; it's wholly unnecessary--there's plenty of places for a good spot to end it for one season.

The supporting voice-casting is also quite unusual for this series. Nao Touyama and Rie Kugimiya are excellent seiyuu, with hundreds of roles between them. Using that level of talent for the characters they're casted makes little sense. Surely, less-experienced but still talented seiyuu could have given an excellent performance while saving some of the budget, which is patently thin.

Animation for the show leaves much to be desired. Another victim of the adaptation is the distinct art-style of the manga. Girls especially are significantly more flat and generic in appearance compared to their manga counterparts. Sawayoshi has a distinct style of lips for his girls, which is notably absent from the show. All-around, the animation quality is bare-bones. It is highly unlikely anyone will remember this show for its style--as it blends into every other high school rom-com that's come out in the last five years.

This is the first review for any series that I have bothered to create on MAL. Please consider the fact that I have done so here as evidence of how poorly this show is doing. If readers should take anything from this review, it would be:

Do not bother with this anime. It is a shallow husk of an otherwise excellent manga.

After the first episode i wasn't sure how the comedy would be later.
Now that I've watched 3 episodes I am happy with the way its going. I think the pacing and the quality of the comedy is pretty good.
The 2 main characters have a fun dynamic together.
My only problem is that it feels like this show has a "6.5 rated show" production. The creativity is there for it to be a 7.5 show but it just feels cheap in a way. Tesco budget Love is War.
If you get over the fact that it LOOKS like a bad show and you give it a ... chance I think you will enjoy it. It managed to make me laugh a few times.

Oroka na Tenshi wa Akuma to Odoru is a great example of an excellent manga with a bullshit adaptation.

As a manga reader, I find this adaptation rather disappointing. It failed to make the first impression for non-manga readers on the first-ever episode and did not improve that reputation throughout the next two episodes. You could call this the knockoff version of Kaguya-sama with all the comedy (?) that was poorly "translated" from the manga to the anime. I might have let my expectations go too high for an unpopular manga drawn and written by an ex-hentai artist. So, for those with ... nothing better to do, you can have the green light for this anime, but if you value your sanity and time, the manga is for you.

Sometimes, the score rated on MAL is right since it reflects the true content of the anime series can provide to audience, which I barely have anything to oppose. However, if you do it as something default to watch or skip by the point rated on MAL, you will miss the gold! Like this anime.

Honestly, I still don't get and understand how this anime gets 6.92 out of 10.

Summary real quick:
1. If you like 86 - Eighty six -> go watch this
2. If you think Horiyama story is well constructed -> Go watch this
3. if you like the animation figthting scence from unlimited budget from ... Fate -> Go watch this
4. if you like twisted, lovely romance like love is war -> Go watch this
5. Till the last point -> everything looks perfectly cooked well with animation.

I would say this anime won't be 9 out of 10 but. in this seasonal, it should be around 8.6 to 8.8 out of 10.
Enjoyment I got from watching this better than Mashle season 2 and Solo Leveling or Tomozaki or nozomanu Fushi.

Sometimes you need a change of scenery. After years of exclusively working on hentai titles, Sawayoshi Azuma presents his first "regular" story here - and one has to say: the "career change" was worth it.

The story revolves around the young demon Masatora Akutsu, who is sent from hell to earth to find a new leader (a so-called "idol") who will motivate the demons to confront the angels from heaven, because although while the angels seem to be exorcising demon creatures every day, no one there really seems to be getting their asses up. 

He disguises himself as a typical high school student and meets the young ... Lily Amane on the same day. With her cute and charming nature, her classmate seems to be exactly the right person for Akutsu's job. When he reveals his plan to her, she unexpectedly turns out to be one of the angels who has the mission to wipe out demons on earth. But instead of fighting Akutsu, she decides to use the situation to her advantage. From now on, Akutsu will be her "slave" and his ability to track down fellow demons will make her job as a demon hunter much easier. To do this, she puts chains on him - literally, by putting a magical collar on him, with chains that she can make appear and disappear at will. 

In his desperation about betraying his comrades to the enemy in this involuntary cooperation, Akutsu comes up with a supposedly saving idea while watching a love TV-show. Since, in his impression, couples in love are willing to do anything for their partner's happiness, Lily should fall in love with him and thus fulfill his original wish to go to hell with him and motivate the demons there. Too bad Lily saw exactly the same show on TV - and so a bitter battle of love begins. Who will be able to seduce whom first and win them over for their own purposes?

But in addition to their love battle, Akutsu and Lily also have their hands full. So demon creatures continue to run around freely through the city, Akutsu's supervisor Liz is breathing down his neck - without knowing that he is hunting with an angel against his own kind - and then there is the curious classmate Yuuka Tanahashi, who sees Lily as a potential love rival for her crush Kensuke, because of her sweetness and who is clearly interested in why Akutsu has been spending so much time with her lately.

It takes a while to warm up to “Oroka na Tenshi wa Akuma to Odoru”. Especially at the beginning, the title oscillates somewhere between different scenarios, and you're not sure whether you're watching a demon-, comedy-, shōnen- or romance-anime or a watered-down version of "Kaguya-sama". Maybe it's also because it's Sawayoshi Azuma's first "real" story and he probably wanted to try out a lot of things at the beginning. While the first two episodes focusses more on the conflict between the demon and the angel, in the rest of the first half of the season the emphasis is on the love battle between the two - so one could get the impression that it is purely a comedy/love anime. It is more in the second half that the background to heaven and hell comes to the fore again and new characters are introduced that make the story more exciting. So it's worth sticking with it and not dropping it too quickly after 4 - 5 episodes. 

The characters all have something interesting that makes them more relatable. Akutsu comes straight from hell and in the first episode initially mocks the simplicity of people, but you quickly get to know his "human" and much more lovable side. Lily initially appears to be a hardened exorcist, but she, too, with all her doubts and mistakes, quickly grows on you. In general, the relationship between Akutsu and Lily, which always oscillates a bit between competition, fight and friendship, is well developed. The supporting characters also come across well, like Yuuka, who gets some laughs with her love-hate relationship with Lily. My secret star of the series is Shiromura-sensei, the group's homeroom teacher, who is described as a "mixture of bizarre masculinity and middle-aged sadness". With his strict appearance, which contradicted his complex about his lack of hair, he is a nice change from the usual stereotypical standard teacher that you see in many series.

Humor genereally playes a large role in the series. There are boxing kittens, talking demon dogs - and for some reason I can no longer understand - a lot of jokes about hair loss. The voice actors deliver, especially Ayane Sakura, who portrays these two sides of Lily, between cute in the classroom and strict towards demons, very well. 

The OP is a real banger and the reason why Taiyou to Odore, Tsukiyo ni Utae has been playing in a loop on my MP3 player for weeks. In my opinion, the strongest opening of the entire winter season. The ED then shows the quieter, more romantic side of the series again.
 
So if you're looking for an anime with a pinch of demons, a pinch of humor, a pinch of action, a pinch of love and all of that together - then "Oroka na Tenshi wa Akuma to Odoru" is exactly the right place for you. I strongly recommend reading the manga, especially if you liked the last three episodes. The story is really getting going from now on - everything that was shown in the anime is more of a prelude to future, more in-depth story arcs. If there is no second season, we will still have the adventures of Akutsu and Lily in manga form - and the memory of 12 extremely entertaining anime-mondays

I feel like I need to represent the people who gave it a shot and enjoy this show. Sure, this series starts off with typical cheap rom-com vibes, but over the next episodes it begins to stand out from other ones in a good way. It keeps surprising me and making me interested.
Not to say that the plot is unpredictable, but the way it is delivered is WAY better than most romance anime, and can even rival Love is War at some moments (cuz i see a lot of comparisons to that anime).

So my take on this series: plot and characters are basic and predictable, ... but even predictable stories can be great if they are well carried out (like The Eminence in Shadow). Also, the comedy is not bad. Also also, the action was refreshing.

I just hope it doesn't flop towards the end.

I think the majority of users who’ve left a rating for this show didn’t make it past episode 3. I’ll be straight: the first two episodes are BAD, and the third is very mid. I nearly dropped the show myself, but I have a goal this year to finish even the trash shows I start in 2024.

I’m glad I didn’t drop it, because things get really good in episode 4. I’m not sure if the author needed time to get his comedy down, but every joke in the first three episodes landed completely flat for me. However, the first few minutes in episode 4 ... actually had me audibly laughing, much to my surprise, and the episode continued on this good trend of “wait, is this show ACTUALLY getting good??”

Then episode 5 comes and has one of the best and most well directed romance scenes I’ve seen in a long time. The scene’s combination of a having a good buildup, a complete drop in audio, and then just hanging in this moment for as long as it does makes it so impactful (despite its usage of typical romance clichés i.e. the phone ring and falling on top of each other).

And that’s the big thing about this anime overall: consistency. It lacks it. It has horribly boring and eye-rolling moments, quizzically outstanding moments, and then just mid moments. It’s all over the place. Each episode is like a fresh slate of quality: will it be good, bad, or average? Whether or not you’d be willing to deal with that to get the good stuff is up to you. I will say that the poorer writing of the later episodes is easier to shrug off, because at this point I had built up some sort of understanding of and appreciation for the characters and their developments.

Like I said, I definitely don’t blame anyone for writing this anime off as trash and dropping it within the first three episodes. But there is something here that I at least think is worth sticking with until the end. At least to see if its hilarious and impactful moments (amid a rubble of mid and bad) are as enjoyable and memorable to you as they were to me.

From the get go, I want to make a small comparison to set the tone. The comparison is not story-wise, but production-wise. Last spring/early summer we had a show called Kaminaki Sekai no Kamisama Katsudou and ignoring whether or not the show was good or bad, it did something absolutely hilarious and new, it played with the element of comedy achieved through visual production. Oroka na Tenshi wa Akuma to Odoru does something similar while not copying the earlier mentioned show entirely, which caught me by surprise, though a welcome one. Do note that I have not read the manga and am basing my review ... solely on the anime.

Honestly, the greatest strength of this show is it's comedy and characters. I wasn't too sure after the first episode, but from episode 2 up to episode 5 which is where I'm at currently, I've yet to be disappointed by the comedy and I've had several heartwarming laughs due to our two lovable goofballs of MCs and the shenanigans they get up to. Perhaps the biggest refreshing take about this show is that the MCs both get flustered by each other and that the male MC isn't just a pushover with no self-esteem. In fact, it's quite the opposite, both MCs ooze self-esteem, which leads to hilarious situations. The other perspective of the show, the romance element, also gets elevated by this self-esteem between both of the MCs and I like it a lot.

Like I already mentioned, the production is doing some funny things with the visuals out of the ordinary and it lands quite well. It's not just limited to the animation medium, but the voice actors are doing some funny shenanigans. The cast list is pretty stacked and Sakura Ayane basically carries the show on her shoulders with the work she's doing here, I will admit. She's perfect for the role of Amane Lily. The male VA Uchida Yuuma does a great job as well, it should be noted. The biggest element dragging the show down is unfortunately the animation quality. It looks quite bad at times, though it's not all bad, there are some scenes that are really well animated. They are however too far between each other. Looking past the jank it's definitely watchable and quite a good looking production over all.

There's not much to say about the plot unfortunately other than that it's quite predictable, but still entertaining enough to keep the interest of the audience. It's the usual rom-com elements, only both MCs hunt each other and we get some spicy scenes here and there. Definitely keep an open mind watching this show and don't watch it with parents nearby.

What makes this show so entertaining is the combination of a great VA cast, great visual comedy paired with great written comedy and two strong MCs that compete with each other on seemingly equal terms. Preliminary rating: 8/10. Even though the production can be wonky at times, the content and VAs save the show and elevates it to being incredibly entertaining.

I swear, the first few episodes were like trying to get a cat to take a bath - it was a struggle, and I was this close to giving up. But, I'd heard great things about it, so I persisted. And boy, am I glad I did.

Around the midpoint, things started to pick up, and I mean, really pick up. The plot got twisty, the characters got more complex, and I found myself actually caring about what happened next. And then, the final fight scene happened... Akatsu and Zwei going head-to-head? Mind. Blown. I was screaming at my screen like a lunatic, and my roommate ... thought I'd lost it.

What really stood out to me, though, was the way the show balanced the darkness and the humor. I mean, some of the themes they tackled were heavy, but they managed to sneak in some genuinely funny moments that had me laughing out loud. And the animation? Smooth as silk. That final battle was so well-choreographed, I felt like I was right there in the thick of it.

All in all, I'd give it 7/10. It's not perfect, but it's definitely a wild ride worth taking. Just, you know, grab a snack or something for the slow bits at the start. Trust me, it's worth it.

I'll get straight to the point: I like it so far! It's a combination of 'The Devil Works Part-Time', 'Kaguya-sama: Love is War', and 'My Dress-Up Darling'. More specifically, it has a similar premise and vibe to 'Devil Works Part-Time', the romance-related comedy of 'Kaguya-sama', and the sweet, but sexual tension of 'Dress-Up Darling'. If you enjoyed these three anime, then I would at least give it a chance!
Based on other reviews, this show does not follow the manga well, especially it's ecchi scenes. I would agree that this anime is definitely more romance than ecchi. However, it can get a little spicy at ... times compared to pure shojo anime (I'm looking at you, Episode 5). Maybe I'll read the manga and change my mind, but as a show, I think its funny and cute! Please don't pass on this show like I almost did due to a bad score.

In my opinion this anime is underrated...
The dash, the plot and the way this series works on emotions deserve 7, maybe even 8 out of 10 stars.
The only thing I can fault is what the first episodes looked like... very typical for this type of anime and it was quite boring.
However, later this changes and the main character turns out to be a real badass.
Overall, I would give it a 7, but looking at the ending I can easily give it an 8.
I think it's worth watching.
This anime reminded me a bit of "Kaguya-sama: Love is War"

The beginning of this anime story is quite promising with enough comedy to make me laugh.
Here I thought why a cute anime like this has a small score?
And that was answered when I watched the second episode and so on.

This anime has beautiful characters and is enough to interest me, for comedy it is also quite funny and can make you laugh.
But unfortunately this anime doesn't know how to put the brakes on, there's too much comedy and it's constantly in situations where it shouldn't be.
And this is the main weakness, when someone continues to be given comedy but the comedy is not funny then ... the audience will feel strange and become bored.
The thing that makes me really hate this anime is that there are double roles when both MCs tease each other, that is, there is a boxing match in the ring, and this boxing becomes the center where whoever loses in boxing then the person being teased also loses.
Honestly, it's very annoying to see every time there is a scene of this boxer, not to mention there are commentators complete with the audience.

The point is, this anime is very boring, if only it was just teasing and without boxer scenes, maybe I could like this anime more, but unfortunately no, I was only able to watch this anime up to episode 5 because I was tired and bored of seeing what was happening.

This show is bad.
It's a love story between an angel that is being persecuted by her family and a nosebleed harem protagonist demon (who literally gets collared and forced to obey the angel in starting from episode 1). However, putting aside how love correlates to stockholm syndrome, romance isn't really done well. It's 8 episodes of dumb posturing and one-upping each other at acting cool and cute, very, VERY stretched out shots of every scene, and occasional "e-eeeeEEeh?! I... I AM in love with a demooon?!??" and "G-gh! she's actually very kind for an angel!".
And it would be fine. It's a challenge to write a ... good story, and writing a good story about interpersonal relationships in a way that feels believable and relatable is even harder. Nevermind about translating such a story into a series of 20 minute long episodes.

But starting from episode 9 it turns into a lowest tier shounen fight, with disgusting villains, incredible powers sleeping in MC's right arm, unbeatable odds and an MC who beats those odds anyway because he gets too agitated to remember he's only an actor in this fake-ass story and not a real person.

There is a slew of worse shows, and by their grace this anime could be called "good", but I can't recommend it to anyone because it's hard for me to imagine someone watching this show to the end and not feeling disappointed with how this story progresses.
If you want to watch some anime and there's nothing you haven't seen yet... then just go and re-watch your favorite show, honestly.

Plot: very mid for a comedy anime, nothing out of the ordinary happens, quite a lot of cliche moments to fill screen time

... Sound: pretty catchy op and peaceful ed, everything else is ok

Entertainment: entertaining enough to keep me catch up every week, overall a good anime to turn off my brain and kill time with

Demon and Angel romantic comedy. The gag comedy is pure gold and animation paid off really. Literally they try to make them fall for each other (won't give the spoiler) which shows `Love is war` now love is war fandom crying about this anime I don't know the reason why but this is completely different than you think it actually is. The plot is what made me get hold on this series with the cute moments of our tenshi and akuma falling for each other. No childhood friend involved for now which is an eyesore to all romantic comedy genre giving love triangle. The story ... mainly focus on them highly not involving side characters. Definitely worth watching...thats being said i am 21 and reviewing this idk what i am doing but i hope it helps someone so that they can enjoy this pure gem.

If you like Kaguya-sama: Love is War, Ijiranaide: Nagatoro-san, or even Toradora! then you’ll probably enjoy this anime.

Plot: 7/10

Two main character’s that share two important, yet opposing, missions and end up in a cat-and-mouse game to one up the other and complete their own goals. They’re opposites who stray so far from one another they end up meeting at the other side, with extremely similar and light-hearted similarities. The plot takes us through the goals of each in a light-hearted and flirty way, enjoyers of other shows such as Kaguya-sama: Love is War, Ijiranaide, ... Nagatoro-san and maybe even Toradora! fans will find comfort and similarities within this show and its plot.

The comedy in this show isn’t fantastic, it’s not terrible either and often feels pretty self-aware with jokes that are ‘cringey’ or overdone, however, if you’re watching this anime because you want something that will make you laugh a lot, I wouldn’t recommend it.

The audience knows from the get-go that the two main character’s will fall for each other, and it’s just a waiting game of when it will happen. Mixed in with that, the element of forbidden love makes it even more enjoyable and interesting to watch. The one thing that I do wish was explored more was the aspect of angels and demons and what’s happening within Heaven and Hell. I feel like that would’ve added more depth to the plot but I’m sure the manga explores those aspects more deeply.

Characters: 8/10

I like the fact that the characters are complete cliches and that they surprise you with how they act occasionally. They’re easy to like and root for, despite not being overly complex or ‘fleshed-out’ and many of the typical tropes for this genre work well and don’t come off as awkward or cringey. The supporting characters are okay, though I feel like none of them really add or take away from the overall plot - which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but would be interesting for the sake of the plot in some instances.

Animation/Design: 7.5/10

The animation is fine, and in some cases it’s actually really nice and well-done! I don’t find any of it to be particularly interesting or unique though, but it’s good to look at and doesn’t distract you negatively at any point. I think the character designs are well-made and stand out enough to make the characters memorable enough also, which is good in such an oversaturated genre!

Conclusion: 7/10

It’s a comfortable and easy watch, and with it being such a short anime there isn’t much reason not to give it a chance. The characters are simple and interesting and the romance is easy to root for. If you’ve got the time and enjoy the genre, definitely give it a chance. While there’s nothing glaringly special or different about this show compared to others of the genre, I do still think it’s well-executed and worth the watch.

I don't want to leave a long review, TLDR: Absolutely unexpected banger. Great characters, great romance, nice fight scenes.

The first impression I got was tht this was going to be another one of those shitty, episodic, painful to watch so called 'romcoms' where characters factory reset every few eps without any development, where they repeat the same gags over and over for 12 eps. Ngl, the first few eps are garbage. It just felt like a shitty Love is War ripoff, with RandomXD Please Laugh humor. I wasn't really surprised, I had 0 expectations on this one, I'd never even heard of it.

NOPE. Shit pops ... off after ep 5, doesn't fuck up after that. Its a very nice, heartfelt, enemies to lovers romance anime. The male lead isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but is likable, straightforward, and you can't help but root for him; bro has no issues locking in when needed. The female lead was G R E A T. At first, she just seems like the copy paste annoying ass tsundere who treats the ML like shit just for the sake of it. Nope. She is a flawed character with her own issues, who is trying her best to do what she thinks is right, and she develops throughout the series. One of the best takes on the tsundere character archetype I've seen in ages. The romance is by far the best part of the show, it's not too rushed, not too stagnant, the pacing feels natural, and they share some great, well crafted moments together; which is quite an achievement to pull off in just 12 eps, even more so when there are other plotlines. There were sooo many opportunities to add in shitty misunderstandings, but they took the high road. (╥﹏╥) (Nah seriously this anime had no right to be as good as it was wtf, I need a season 2)

I usually don't talk about animation, but I have to at least mention it here. The action scenes are bangers, the animation overall is far better than Im used to seeing. Again, it aint perfect, the starting was ass, most people dropped it. The humor is pretty bad, that's not a good sign in a romcom. But for me, the humor entered the 'So bad its good' territory, so I was chillin. I'm giving this a glowing review cause I legit expected nothing, and this just subverted my expectations in the best possible way. Its such an underrated anime. If you're into romance/enemies to lovers, give it a watch.

This anime was hysterically cringe-worthy.

On one hand, the animation and character designs were appealing (though definitely low-budget), the dialogue was cheesy and basic, but watching Lily and Akutsu desperately try to one up each other was very entertaining. The 'sweet' moments between the main couple were cute (though highly overdramatized).

On the other hand, the story was a complete disaster. Character motivations wavered constantly, the soundtrack and opening theme lacked originality, there wasn't a single likeable side character, and the Demon's underworld was explored more then 'Heaven' where the Angles resided (many unanswered questions in regard to the female leads circumstances and upbringing), but the overall ... world building was shallow and just made no sense. Most importantly, the random 'sadistic' nature of the Angles was very off putting, especially when said behaviour changed at the drop of a hat.

Granted this was a Comedy-Shoujo, not the series to watch if a viewer is looking for depth or a true-love story. However, it was a fun 'turn your brain off' type anime that viewers could sit back and enjoy.

I really thought that this is gonna be a normal Romance, Shoujo anime genre but it is not like I've never thought that the title itself really means a relationship between a real Angel and a Demon. This is the downside if you never interested in manga/novel and started off to watch the anime. The first episode on how they meet really not that interesting for me but the story really build-up to be a really great Romance, Shoujo and Comedic anime and I really enjoyed it so much. Their interactions really cute and lovely, at least for me. The animator needs to improve on ... the fighting side of the story. I mean like, they're lack or real sound effects and the movement quite 'slow' and awkward, I would say so. But overall, what a great anime. Don't expect it to be really good but if you actually appreciate and watch it, I think you guys will love it.
