Shin Shinka no Mi: Shiranai Uchi ni Kachigumi Jinsei

My overall experience with the show has been very underwhelming.

To start with how S1 ended going into S2, the main character ALREADY knows that he’s “too OP” but when you start watching S2; Feels like he has amnesia and forgets he’s OP. The story feels flat, as if the direction got derailed somehow. I understand that the show wants more spotlight for new characters, but I’m just not feeling it. We’re here to watch some OP shenanigans, not disgruntled students.

The enemies; again, underwhelming. Feels too forced on the whole “mwah ha ha I’m evil cause I’m bad” type of feel and would rather ... have them do some menacing acts because of something horrible happened to them specifically or cause they enjoy pain.

There’s 3 more episodes to watch and I’ll give my final verdict on the 2nd season. But as it stands right now. (4/10). Only because of the new area, one or two times the show made me chuckle, and hoping they pull a 180 and drives home a good, strong ending to the season.

And it started so well...

Season 2 is a tale of two halves

The first half is a dumb comedy full of dumb humour, full of references to other anime, very much like season 1, and I really enjoyed it because it didn't try to be anything else.

The second half, the tone is all over the place, the pacing is terrible, the comedy isn't as prevalent and is hit and miss, in short, it's just a mess, and for me it was a real slog to get through and just wasn't enjoyable.

I'm going to have to give this a 5/10 because that evens it out, and not ... because I think it's a 5/10 series, because honestly, I would score it as follows:
Episodes 1-5 = 8/10
Episodes 6-12 = 3/10

I really can't recommend it, because as I was watching the second half, I found myself really not wanting to watch it anymore, and I say that as someone who likes watching trash Isekai, so for me to dislike it, then you know it's bad.

It’s too painful to watch

I loved Season 1. By all means it is the generic isekai, but it is still enjoyable for me. In respect for Season 1, I decided to give this a try and i knew right away. This is shit. I’ve never written a review, but this crap deserves my first review.

1. It is predictable, but in a bad way. Dogshit.
2. Art style is dogshit
3. Character is dogshit and unrealistic
4. I would be more than happy to listen out people who can finish this anime and gives a good rating.
5. Would I recommend? By all means, go ahead and finish ... it.


Conclusion: dogshit

This was the worst anime i had the misfortune to watch in recent years. I rarely drop stuff once i start but i only managed to sit trough 7 episodes of this trainwreck. Half of it is just references to old anime and 4th wall breaking. It does this so often it becomes extremely cringe after 5 minutes. The other half is bad dialog, exposition and op isekai mc doing op mc stuff, given he manages to remember hes op. The first season was average, this was a dumpster fire that makes you wonder how this got funded while objectively better anime gets ... dropped on a cliffhanger after 1 season. Only watch if you like extremely cringe jokes, jojo references, or into disaster tourism.

Let me get it through anyone reading this, I usually don't write reviews or something like that - but this anime made me question my insanity, for a degenerate idiot like me who can enjoy both types of shows like "Monogatari" (an objectively good show) and "Isekai smartphone" (an objectively degenerate show) for what they are, I just have two questions,
1."Who was the target audience for this anime?"
2. "Just what the hell did I watch, and why did the animators not question the script at all"

There was a time when I truly though the animators had to go through insanity after I watched "the ... endless eight - Haruhi Suzumiya" making 8 straight same goddam episodes from scratch but this just blew my expectations, I wonder how the animators were even able to get through this without choking to death(or how many animators actually died in the making of this)

This anime made me feel "Inukai-san's dog" was actually a sane anime or "Isekai Smartphone" was a good isekai or maybe "Sword Art Online" is overhated - which I think Aliscisation at the very least is
I have watched many isekai's (be is trashy or good like Re:Zero - one of my favorites btw) as I am huge Isekai fan and I try to see the good things in an isekai as its a concept that has a huge potential if done the right way but this just blew my mind of how bad an Isekai could be, I can't even complain to shonen fans after this if they ever tell me Isekai is the worst genre.....

Well, I have nothing inherently compelling to say, once you start reading this review you should already know where this is going. For the first time since I started writing reviews, I cannot bring myself to write one. This is going to be a rant and nothing else, so here goes:

So, first things first, what's with the whole gorilla waifu thing? I mean, seriously, how was that supposed to even work? Anyway, let's just push that thought out of our minds and dive into the harem aspect. Now, I'm all for a good harem, I love it, but this one? It's just... cringe. Something deep ... down in my soul hurts every time the girls start listing off their roles in the MC's life. I can't stand it.

And let's talk about the plot, or lack thereof. It's just an OP MC wandering around, doing stuff, with no real direction. The scenarios they come up with to piece this thing together.... honestly, they're pretty weak. It feels like a mishmash of random scenes thrown together for the sake of being an anime, but they never really lead anywhere.

The jokes? Meh. And the anime itself? Well, let's just say you could toss me in a river and I'd probably have better luck catching fish. It's a serious swing and a miss, every time they make an attempt to show appeal. And don't even get me started on the bizarre cast of characters in this mess.

Overall, it's bad. Like, really bad. The only reason I'd recommend watching it is so you can fully grasp just how bad it truly is. That is it.

tl;dr
This season felt insulting, especially to those that stuck through and enjoyed the stupidity of the first season despite the massive amount of hate. It falls flat of just about any expectations and makes a poorly executed plan seem like a better idea than whatever this season was. If there is another season, I doubt I'd be able to watch it because of the foul taste the second season left.

This season was the largest disappointment I've experienced in the recent past. When seeing just the cover art of the first season I thought, "Hey this looks stupid, let's watch it!" And I wasn't disappointed. It ... was so stupid that it was actually enjoyable. I had high hopes for this season but it was a combination of a fever dream and a train wreck smothered in terrible dressing. It started to fall apart from the beginning and only got worse. There was a massive lack of recap of the first season's events that made it difficult for anybody, even as someone who has watched and thoroughly enjoyed the first season, to enjoy, much less understand. It's been nearly two years since the first season came out. One would think it would make sense to recap at least enough to put the story back into perspective.

Putting that aside the whole "Stupid humor" shtick that made the first season so enjoyable seemed to be leaned on way too hard. It became tiring when every semi-serious moment was immediately followed by a whiplash tasteless humor moment. one of the characters was basically just used to try to make the audience laugh, most of the time with the most inappropriate timing. Basically it would draw the viewer in and set up a hook and just flat-out screw it up.

What's worse was the characters seemed to be almost sidelined for the most part. They were there in the background but their presence meant literally nothing to the overall story and events that were happening. The episodes didn't center around the characters that were are the forefront of the first season despite the effort that was put forward into growing an attachment to these characters. On top of that the episodes lacked any real development and often felt shorter than they were.

Now let's address the real elephant in the room. That ending... I have no words for it other than what were they thinking? The meta is usually structured that the last two or three episodes would set up and execute in a way that make the viewer say, "That was awesome! Totally worth making it through the other episodes." but it just falls flat and doesn't just drop the ball, it smashes it into the ground, lights it on fire and finishes by just blowing it to pieces, in a bad way.

I don't know how, but this season managed to be even worse than the first season. While the first season impressed with just an awful excuse for humor, I'm talking random screams and shocked reaction faces EVERYWHERE, the second season did... the same thing. No improvements at all, it's just always the same crappy jokes. The only difference between season 1 and 2 is that while the first season just overpowers the spineless, oblivious MC with no end and occasionally jacks him off while making every girl fall for him, the second season just doubles down on wanting to make us believe that this bland, ... boring OC please don't steal is actually the greatest and most likeable person in the universe. And as you can imagine, it's so much more cringe than kust the regular old isekai garbage. It's honestly just desperate at this point.

I may be in the very small minority of people that watched and enjoyed Season 1 of this show... genuinely, i've seen it twice now... its fun and silly. I totally, non-ironically enjoy the first season.

If you, too, enjoyed the first season... then this will be the most disappointing anime you will ever watch.

NOTHING about this anime is good. Not one thing, there is no redeeming quality to be had here. It is not just a departure from the first season, its a COMPLETELY different show with a completely different sense of humor, if it can even be called humor.

I can say, without any hyperbole, ... that this is the worst anime season I have ever watched. EVER. I had watch hundreds of seasons of anime... thousands of episodes, and this it the biggest pile of you-know-what that I have ever had the misfortune to watch.

I do not review anime often, and typically only chime in when its something I looked forward to that let me down so hard I can't keep it bottled up. I enjoy bad anime, absolutely I do... I like the first season and that is proof enough... but this isn't bad, its unwatchable, unlikable, and unenjoyable.

The characters ALL completely change, not becoming MORE of what they were in season one... they completely change and also become entirely one-dimensional. Seiichii becomes unbearable, saria becomes a different person entirely, artoria is NOTHING like herself, lulune loses all of her charm, and even oliga becomes unlikable. Literally every character.... Barnabus, seichii's friends from his class, the new supporting characters, the new antagonist... ALL of them are some of the worst characters I have ever seen in an anime.

How did this get released? I will end it with this... I feel about this anime the same way I feel about every JoJo clip I have ever seen. Nobody should like this. It is awful, objectively and nobody should be proud of the product they produced. It does not deserve even a moment of your time. The first 5 seconds of the first episode is already too much time wasted.

The second season of this anime, so far has had a good impact. Unlike the first season which was very messy, in this second season they are much tidier. However, the jokes they present are a bit excessive. I feel they don't predict the outside market, I'm not Japanese but I feel the jokes they give are like father jokes. If you have free time just use it to see other isekai anime.
They even still often use jokes from the first season in the second season. And make it look like you weren't their audience if you didn't watch the first season. It's so ... annoying to hear them say it, not knowing if they are desperate or sarcastic. But let me be clear, you don't even have to watch the first season to understand the story in the second. Because they retell the incident in the first season.

So, I saw this anime is airing and is on the second season. So, I spent a bit of time watching the first season so I can check it out since I love isekai animes. Here is my thoughts on this anime's second season

1. Animation improved significantly (looks better than a lot of these isekai anime that aren't high-budget ones)
This makes the show more enjoyable to watch than the first season. So if you like the first season then you'll like the second season as well if not more.

2. Still light-hearted anime. Scenes, where things could be serious, are made into funny/lighthearted moments. This can ... be good or bad depending on the person. Personally, I don't mind, but there are times when it tries to make it funny and it doesn't end up being funny or serious either. Most times, it works, but some may not like a show that doesn't take itself seriously. EDIT: Way too many jojo art references in this show. I said I didn't mind the light-heartedness, but I changed my mind after watching 6 more episodes because the characters still tries to take itself seriously even though the show doesn't. It doesn't really match well.

3. MC: guy feels unrelatable with the way he acts. No one in real life would act as he does, so I don't like it. He feels like a made-up character, which ruins the immersion. I find myself confused with his thinking and actions at times because of it. Since the show doesn't take itself seriously tho, this isn't a big deal. Just something to mention

Verdict: Decent anime, above average, but definitely not good or higher in my eyes. Watch it if you liked the first season, would not recommend it otherwise. The show does not really improve from the first season besides the animation. So, if you're hoping it would get better, it does not. EDIT: I actually think the show is WORSE than season 1. And I ended up dropping it
