Kimetsu no Yaiba: Katanakaji no Sato-hen

Kimetsu no Yaiba is back with a bang with the Swordsmith Village arc. If the early episodes are anything to go by, chances are this is going to surpass even the Red Light District arc, and itself, yet again. Therefore, it is hardly a merry surprise that this is the most anticipated Anime of the year.

Plot: As the name suggests, the story will span the Swordsmith Village arc of the Manga. A misty village shrouded deep in the bosom of Taisho Japan, famous for crafting nichirin swords that the Demon Slayers use. The events pick up straight from the fateful battle of final part of ... the Red Light District arc, and then proceeds there. Whatever happens following that is the plot of this season.

Characters: Apart from the protagonists, a couple of Hashiras will be appearing this time around, Mist Hashira Muichirou and Love Hashira Mitsuri. We also get acquainted with many of the fabled Swordsmiths from the village who craft these mighty swords, along with their Village Chief.

However, the most important and anticipated reveal will surely be of the upper moons. Apart from Akaza, Douma and Gyuutarou/Daki, the rest were in the dark till now. However all of them disclose themselves inside a few minutes from the beginning.

Animation: The very first episode stands testament to exactly what Ufotable is capable of. Remember the Biwa Scene from Season 1, that infinite castle scene which twisting and turning so mesmerized us. Now imagine if it was extrapolated to it's absolute limit and more. Something to that tune is casually dropped within first two minutes of this new season.

If the opening theme is anything to go by, then by the time this season concludes Ufotable would've set a new standard, outdoing themselves yet again.

The visuals are really crisp. The motion feels very smooth. The backgrounds look gorgeous, dark and sinister at times, and fantastic at other.(Just don't go voting for it to be best fantasy again ⊙⁠﹏⁠⊙)

The scenes look very cinematic with lots of dramatic and unusual perspectives for a Shounen. The above mentioned sequence almost seemed like artstyle horror movies and ultra futuristic mecha sequences seamlessly juxtaposed with each other. The speciality of Ufotable, the effects are also on full display. Now the wait is simply for the action sequences, and it's execution.

Music: The score by Yuki Kajiura retains the standard set by it. As more new episodes appear, it'll be rather interesting to observe how the original music for this season shapes up.

As for the Opening theme by Man With a Mission and Milet, though I was personally a touch sceptical about it from the trailer, the real version has considerably won me over. It turned out to be as worthy as you'd expect from a Kimetsu no Yaiba opening.

Now is it as good as Gurenge? Well, NO. Even Lisa couldn't top that with either "Akeboshi" or "Homura", nor could Aimer. Asking that will be something akin to asking to do one better than Yui's "Again" from FMAB, or Lisa's own "Crossing Fields" from SAO, or Yoko Takahashi's "A Cruel Angel's Thesis' From Eva, or the OG Pokemon Opening.

The opening is excellent in it's own right and deserves all the plaudits it gets. The ending theme is also very cool, especially the little nod to both "Homura" and "Akeboshi" in the middle felt really good. A welcome edition to the Anime.

Voice Acting: All the returning actors are as great as ever, while the upper moons sound as amazing as they should with the new cast. Nothing less than the standard set by Kimetsu no Yaiba.

Enjoyment: Even if I were to tell you otherwise, chances are you're already enjoying the living daylights out of Kimetsu no Yaiba. Even those extremely smart personalities who will purposefully compose hate reviews, and open hate forums about how this and that was not to their liking, and how silly and stupid everything is about Kimetsu no Yaiba, are still religiously watching the Anime, and enjoying it. So much so that despite saying how much they hate it, and how utterly bad everything is, they have not only kept up with every season, they are still watching every single second of every single minute as if their life depended on it.

I am only writing this for the sake of the old days of DS and how much I enjoyed previous seasons .at the same time I admit that this season is the least favorite of all previous ones but that doesn't mean it's bad by any means
DS probably has the most number of haters in the anime community and why? the show is constant in all its terms of story, animation, etc. so I don't get what people are complaining about if it's not your type don't watch it

So why this season is heated? basically because of the number of episodes so you feel ... you didn't witness anything new but if we compare it to the previous season we can tell it has the same slow start but unlike the previous season this one didn't have the same kind of thrill and action during the fight and also the last season's demon was much better in writing quality. for that reason, I think the season should have more episodes
also one of the reasons is the viewer kinda expected the season events cause it's basically a copy of the last season
another reason that the animation quality has dropped a little and I am talking about the CGI, especially the fish I think it was so bad

away from these problems, I think everything else is the same as the old DS there is not so much happening but the arc is important for the characters and story development and that last episode was absolutely gorgeous and IMO is the best in DS so we hope for a better next season.

So. I think the series is similar to the rest of the franchise, but it does confuse me that a lot of 'haters' are still watching the Anime despite them commenting on how 'annoying' it is or how 'bland' and 'mid' it is.

I personally don't think so. I'm usually attracted to pretty colors and the fact that there's barely any romance, so Kimetsu no Yaiba is a treat for me. The plot is cool, I have nothing to say about it, and this arc is my favourite simply because it features my favourite characters. (Muuichiro and Mitsuri)

Watching it isn't boring, nor is it tiring. It ... keeps my attention even though I'm bad at continuing something that bores me immediately, which is a prop by itself. I feel that the next episode, which is coming out a little later tonight or tomorrow (ep. 6) is gonna be really cool considering it will be centered around Muuichiro and how he'll improve and such.

For those who call the characters badly written... Please don't talk anymore. You clearly didn't watch the show.

And yes, the screaming is quite obnoxious and the 'Loud = Funny' trope may be overused here, but it lightens and gives it more 'shounen' tact. I believe there are many famous Animes that use the 'Loud = Funny' trope but I barely see anyone complaining about it at all.

Anyway, as a mainly Seinen and Iyashikei enjoyer, I think Demon Slayer is good. It's pretty, I guess.

Yeah I watch demon slayer. Call this show mid or whatever but you are definitely watching it alone to absorb the delicious eyegasming animation it provides. You might say "nah, the story is too generic". Well, duh. How do you expect it to reach the mass audience? With an "Elden ring" type story that needs you to search google for the lore and replay the game 7 times?
It's popular because it's easy to get into, you don't get lost watching the anime. Don't forget the purpose after a new season arrives. You get teary feeling the characters determination in a fight. Your heart throbs at ... the characters death. This season is filled with all of these. And a ray of hope that begins the path to the ending of the show. You will enjoy it.

Ahem. In all honestly, what needs to be said about Demon slayer, that hasn't been said already? You know the drill by now, as it's a sow that you SHOULD be watching. Even if you may not enjoy it as highly as another. It's still a good watch, no matter what.

Story and characters: 9
For those who know Demon Slayer, it's a faithful adapatation of the manga, in every stretch of the word. Even the random stuff, will get included, as it's as faithful as one can get. But what truly makes Demon Slayer that extra interesting. Is that the direction, and it's character direction. This ... season will be proof of that. You'll see new faces, old faces, the works. Each bringing something new to the table, and bringing about a very detailed, and hard fought arc. Will it hit as hard as the previous? Only time will tell, though I do have to be baised as.

I freaking love Mitsuri, and you should too!

Art and sound: 9
Demon Slayer will always have the best, and top of the line production values that one will see in anime. It almost as if you wanna scream 'MAN GIVE ANOTHER SHOW A CHANCE WILL YA.' Because it's clean, it's beautiful, it transitions so, so well. Just look at the long first episode for the perfect example of it. The shifts, and turns. Everything looks great, and the later stages of this arc, are going to stand out beautiful, then it already is. Combine that with always good voice acting, and you get a recipe for success, in every inch of the word.

Demon Slayer back at it once again, and you should be watching.

Kimetsu no Yaiba: Katanakaji no Sato-hen (2023)

A huge amount of action and progression this time around. I had expected this from the start but damn I didn't think it was going to be this crazy. The animators have outdone themselves here!

The story this time really felt like it would be mellow with some action but to this extent, I did not expect and with a 51-minute last episode that was great.

The animation is gorgeous as usual and as you would expect. The fight scenes look absolutely epic and the portrayal of the movements and actions during fights is as always perfect. The ... momentum builds up each time leaving you catching your breath.

The soundtrack as usual just gets better and better. The battle music is perfectly fitting too. The voices as always are a great fit for this show.

Characters develop, and faces are seen you wouldn't have expected to see either. You get a huge amount of progress with many edge-of-the-seat moments.

A mellow beginning, a middle and end full of action, and a final final ending with the peace restored.

10/10, let's keep it going until finished.

In most villains of this franchise, we found depth in their background stories. Although this approach wasn't a fixed rule for all anime, I felt that this season needed more of it. This it used to contributed to the complexity of the villains, making them more organic and humanized. This form of development was consistent with the protagonist's evolving vision of considering only Muzan as the true villain, contradicting the perspective of other hunters who saw all onis as malevolent, without considering the victims among them. Furthermore, it used to generate empathy or, at least, a deeper understanding of their motivations. They weren't simply one-dimensional ... villains, but characters who conveyed emotion in their victories or defeats. Although there is a very brief flashback in the last episode that tries to address this complexity, the extremely limited time didn't allow for satisfactory development.

The development of the heroes with intriguing dramas was positive, but the execution is mediocre. Although flashbacks are a valid tool, their excessive frequency in Kimetsu no Yaiba becomes tiresome, especially when inserted in the midst of the battles of the three new heroes this season. This not only disrupts the rhythm but also seems like a lack of creativity. Although this technique prolongs the battles, there is no significant connection between the flashbacks and the confrontations, except for an isolated case. It seems to be a lazy resource from the author, who did not seek more effective alternatives to develop these characters.

If one of the heroes faced the possibility of death, mutilation, it would increase the sense of consequence, drama, and suspense. However, my greatest concern was focused on the secondary characters of the blacksmith village, a concern that should not exist for supporting characters. At this stage of the franchise, the repetition of the formula has become quite evident. The premise that the protagonists would face extreme challenges, suffer a lot, but in the end, everything would turn out well for everyone.

With no real risks for the protagonists and the anime failing to establish a convincing antipathy towards the villains, how then to create an epic climax? Perhaps through suspense? However, to build suspense, it is necessary to have unresolved mysteries, and there are few of them left. Furthermore, in this season, no significant new mysteries were introduced. The situation worsens even more for the climax when the anime incorporates comedic elements or a light atmosphere in moments that should be more delicate.

Despite the criticisms, the anime is not bad. I highlighted its flaws because few mention them, but its qualities are truly exceptional. Ufotable redefines entertainment standards with its high-quality production in terms of audio and visuals. Additionally, the director managed to perform true miracles by adding several scenes that significantly enhance the original material. Overall, it is a captivating work that instills the desire to watch and continue watching.

Welcome back Demon Slayer fans!

After we pick up where we left off from the previous arc, and some recovery phases. We pick up on the story side from both the protag, and antag's point of view. Protag being, "shoot my sword broke, looks like I'ma have to go towards the swordsmith village to get a new one. By golly I hope nothing bad happens there."
While from the antagonist point of view. They're like, " So you're saying, two of our demon enhanced people with the strength of a hundred men lost to some people who practice breathing as a workout?! tf?
I do feel ... I'll enjoy this season as we're reintroduced to the Love Hashira Mitsuri, and the quiet kid. Who both will play an important roll this season! And then I hear our boy Zenitsu isn't going to show up at all this season, and I gotta say thank God for that. Because we know if he would've seen Mitsuri's opening scene he would've had so much blood coming from his nose he would've died.
As I have not read the manga the lore keeps getting deeper and deeper into the ones who wear Hanafuda earrings, and only makes me more curious. A lot is happening and they don't fail to keep me entertained with the slight comedy and art style change that comes with that comedy, and as of episode 3 the fun is only beginning!

Strap on your seat belts everyone because this is one rollercoaster of amazement that'll keep you on the edge of your seat!

Ufotable, I want to take a moment to praise the amazing work you did animating the Kimetsu no Yaiba manga. You truly have done an incredible job, and I wanted to congratulate you from the bottom of my heart
The way you have brought this story to life is simply mind-blowing. The visuals are stunning, the animation is super smooth, and every scene is filled with emotion and action. It's like you took the manga pages and turned them into a moving anime
I can't help but mention how well you captured the essence of the characters. Each one of them feels real and authentic, and their ... growth throughout the story is truly moving. You have managed to convey their emotions and struggles in an incredible way
And I can't forget to mention the epic moments! Every time the characters face a challenge, the animation reaches a whole new level of epicness that leaves me breathless. Those moments when everything pauses and the music intensifies are simply awesome

When I read the manga, I felt like Swordsmith Village was one of the weaker major Demon Slayer arcs; and I still hold that opinion after the anime adaptation has finished.

Coming off the back of the incredible Entertainment District arc, it doesn't quite live up to it-- with slowed down pacing; the wild decision to not include Zenitsu and Inosuke; the most uninteresting villains of any arc; and the introductions of Kanroji and Muichiro who struggle to fill the shoes of Uzui and Rengoku; it undoubtedly has some dull moments. The production side of things also seemed a bit off this time around, with ... the animation being surprisingly inconsistent, going against what we've come to expect from the show.

In the end, though, it's still Demon Slayer. The issues that the season has are glaring, but it still retains all of the qualities that made the show popular in the first place. The final episode put all of that on display, and was one of the best so far in the entire series. The Swordsmith Village arc is a low point for sure, but it is still good even with that being the case. Its high points are very high.

Very nice Arc which lived up to the standard UFWO Table had set.

Followed the classic Demon Slayer structure they set out for the show, which was start with mild slice of life episodes and then with each episode crank up the amount of action level by level with added lore in the slice of life episodes to add to the current world building in the time period.
I found it to be a decent Arc with a nice level of situational comedy to the action with how this upper rank demon operated, which leaves even better intricate ways for the next upper rank demon to get ... killed. Although I would've liked UFO to go back to the 24 episode structure they had in the beginning in season 1, as there wasn't too many different settings for this arc, with there only being the butterfly mansion area to the areas surrounding the swordsmith village later in the anime. which was fine as they restricted this to basically 13 and a half episodes if you include the 50 minute finale episode at the end.
But hay we may get more wide scale exploring in the next arc since Tanjiro is back with the others who should've now recovered or even added to their abilities maybe in the time Tanjiro was gone for.

As per usual the Music, design and effects lived up to standard with the climax once again being very visually satisfying. In terms of how entertaining it was, I normally rate that by how long I was on my phone for, which wasn't that long as there was frequently decent flow in the episodes and I couldn't find many times I got bored.

Not like you need to be told this but if you're here for some reason looking for if you should watch this since the previous arc in the red light district. Then if you liked that arcs pacing and structure you can go ahead and start watching this arc, if not then I guess you can go to hanimes ntr section.

Demon Slayer anime has always presented very high production quality. That doesn't mean that what is already great cannot be improved. Animated adaptation of Entertainment District arc has proven it really well. It's set the bar really high, offering even better experience than arcs adapted before it. Swordsmith Village arc anime had to face high expectations of fans wanting to see something at least equally good on one side, and fans wondering if the already very high quality offered by Entertainment District arc might be topped by the story arc coming afterwards.

Unfortunately, in my opinion Season 3 might be the worse out of all season ... that has been released so far. It doesn't mean it's bad. It's still an extremely enjoyable and beautiful looking piece of animated show, offering a similar general experience to the previous ones. One would say this show presents "typical Demon Slayer experience", and it wouldn't be an overexaggeration. It's just... it feels dull at times. Next to stellar looking animation with beautiful art there are moments with mediocre looking CGI models looking off, or scenes with the overusage of certain special effects, such as slow-mo. Same goes with slight change in comedy elements' frequency in the show. I liked them myself and I'm glad they were faithfully adapted, but at the same time, I can imagine somebody disliking that subtle change, or disliking Demon Slayer humor as a whole. All those things do not decrease the joy coming from watching this season by a huge margin, however, it is a visible downgrade compared to what he could see in Entertainment District arc anime adaptation. When I was watching it on an almost weekly basis, I didn't feel that spark I had felt while watching the previous season.

As a manga reader, Swordsmith Village arc is among Demon Slayer story arcs that I consider as the weakest in the whole series. It is not on the last place only because of having a rather decent length and some nice elements introduced in it, so basically it's carried by some cool moments happening throughout it. That's why I hoped to see anime fixing at least half of the issues I had with this arc when I was reading the manga.

A blessing in disguise, this adaptation is very faithful to the source material, limiting potential modifications to just making the whole story look good in an animated format, and focusing more on enhancing action sequences by additional scenes rather than meddling with the script. Sure, there is an anime original content present in this season. However, it's more like extending already existing scenes known from the manga, not coming up with something previously unseen in the source material. ending the existing ones. So, no matter whether we are talking about the writing of this arc and its pros or cons, the source material is to be blamed for both positive and negative aspects of this arc.

Nevertheless, I recommend watching it. It's still anime representing quality way higher than a regular seasonal show. Awesome animation, beautiful music, great looking art, top-notch voice acting and overall good direction (despite few problems I mentioned earlier in this review). Ufotable has proven many times that they know how to handle the adaptation of this manga. It's definitely worth checking and just focus on pure fun coming from watching it. Why? Because paying too much attention to seeking for "Entertainment District arc v2.0" might result in disappointment.

It might not be a case for most anime only fans, or even most fans familiar with the manga. Like I said, this adaptation is faithful to the manga, with all positive and negative elements coming from it. I just could not stop thinking about how rather big potential offered by this arc's premise wasn't fully unleashed in the manga, and remained pretty much the same in the anime. It was an enjoyable watching, but I feel that without much more effort it could've been even better.

i do not know why so many do not like this season, cuz i think it was a great season.
it may have not been the very best as last times but that doesnt mean it was bad either.
demon slayer continues to not disappoint me. the animation was amazing as always, and if u binge watch all 11 eps at once itll be a perfect treat.
im an anime only so maybe the manga had better scenes, nevertheless this arc was worth.
tanjiro got to learn more of himself, we got to meet tokito, the love hashiro (wish we saw her more but she slayed every time) ... we got a huge nezuko update at the end of the show and we also finally got a backstory of muzan and how demons started. It was an emotional journey and im ready to see what the next arc has in store for us :) !

10/10 but -1 for the love breathing trope cesspool of a character who did nothing on or offscreen

If you have watched the rest of the series up til now you'll know what you're getting. great animation, gread voice acting, great everything, cept the trope character. i was starting to dislike it because of this and that but ultimately it boils down to that waste of space character ruining it all.

Demon Slayer's been so good for so long, with some of the best fights in anime that you always wonder if they can keep it up. Is this the season where some flaws start to show? (Spoiler alert, yes) I'll assume you've seen the prequels for the purposes of this review.

Story: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc starts us out with Tanjiro, who, after recovering fight his fight with Daki and Gyuutarou, finds that his sword is damaged and must be either repaired, or replaced. While recovering, series staples Zenitsu and Inosuke are sent off on separate missions. ... This means that Tanjirou must head out to the get his sword replaced with only Nezuko and himself. Thus, he heads to the Swordsmith Village, a location hidden away from prying eyes to meet up with any swordsmith willing to give him a new blade. It's here he meets up with the Love Hashira Mitsuri, the Mist Hashira Muichirou and the Wind Hashira's brother, Genya, in order to defend the village from more Upper Rank Demons. This season's foes are Upper Rank Five, Gyokko and Upper Rank Four, Hangengu, who have come seeking the destruction of the village under Lord Muzan's orders.

Demon Slayer has always been really good telling their stories - whether it's touching like Tanjiro's, or something a little more harsher like Daki and Gyuutarou's from last season. That remains the case here. Not only that, but with the new roster of characters for this season, we get some fresh stories as well. Sure, they all relate back to demons, but they're different enough to keep the content fresh. In addition, with the new setting in the Swordsmith Village, we get to see what a village filled with these types of workers looks like. I can see it being underwhelming to some, but I was pretty interested because swords are literally the lone tools that are used to slay these demons. We get to meet some very interesting characters and with the added twist that they hide their location very carefully just makes it that much cooler.

What brings this review down quite a bit is the series' serious problem with pacing. This is something Demon Slayer has had minor issues with in the past, but this season's pacing problems felt really egregious this time around. Big flashy fights are a staple to the series - just ask veteran watchers about the "episode that broke the internet" in season one. But fights are stretched out longer than ever before. So even though they're awesome in concept, they feel like a bit of a slog at times. Ratcheting up the pacing in all of these fights would have made a world of a difference. I compare these fights to those from Naruto, which are known for being amazing, but simply last far too long. The fights start off really well actually - with the Upper Rank Four fighting Tanjirou and company very early on. Anyone who wished for something to start off quicker than the Entertainment District got what they wanted and that fight here was amazing. But it really tails off about halfway through when it slows down far too much, and insert backstories - as good as they are - at awkward spots.

Even if stalled, the way this season ended was decent. There are some things that happen in the final episode that leave for some questions, or just needed more airtime in it's entirety. However, I'm pretty happy with where it ended. There was some minor chatter about hoping to see the series director be replaced, but I'd trust him to try and up the pacing, if asked. And I really hope that is addressed in the next series, as fights need to be shortened with quicker animations in order to keep the spirit of the series alive. (8/10)

Characters: Tanjirou and Nezuko return as our series protagonists, but as I mentioned before, Zenitsu and Inosuke are basically absent from the series for the entire time. I liked the idea at first because the assumption is that the series would take on a more serious tone, but it basically felt the same. The end result is that I hope they return next season. Tanjirou is the same as before, which is very resolute big brother for the Demon Nezuko. You always appreciate how humble he is, all while growing as a character during the length of the series. Nezuko also grows a little during the series and it does feel like her character will be more central to the plot moving forward. I'll be keen to see how they make that happen.

Mitsuri is a happy-go-lucky Hashiro who basically uses a whip as a weapon and is likely the strongest Hashira we've seen in act to date. She always puts on a brave face for others, especially now that she knows others depend on her. We got to see a glimpse of her both in action, and her past backstory, but I was hoping we'd see more of her moves than simply a different way to whip at the enemy. Muichiro has a horribly tragic backstory and I simply loved. Seeing him grow as a character was equally enjoyable, even if the pacing slowed down his fight sequences a little more than I would have liked. Genya's an odd one. He has a shorter sword, along with a pistol that blows everything up at medium range. But his personality is confusing and his powers don't make a ton of sense to me. They're awesome, but I feel like he might be included in future seasons and be welcomed.

Upper Rank Four had some light backstories like his fellow demons before him, but not anything terribly impressive. However, he is one to be feared because of the variety of powers he possesses. They feel kind of odd for a demon, but they're frightening, and at the end of the day, that's what matters most. Upper Rank Five had powers that held to a water theme, but because of his design, he was probably best suited for the slower pace of this season anyway.

We see plenty of citizens of the Swordsmith Village with varying personalities, none larger than Mr. Haganezuka. He is the swordsmith who created Tanjirou's first sword and he is both dedicated to his craft. He probably provides more comic relief than we really need, but he's a good add to the series. Kotetsu is the other citizen that gets amply screen time and when you take away the plotarmour, he's a fun character. So while we didn't see many standout side characters, there were enough that made this series enjoyable. (8/10)

Art: I shouldn't even need to say much here - ufotable are the kings of action sequences and this was obvious, once again. They don't hold back and even if the slower pacing messed with the series a little bit, the art didn't sour. (10/10)

Sound: Demon Slayer's OST remains strong, with a few tracks that I believe were new. Man on a Mission and Milet provide both the OP and ED, Kizuna no Kiseki and Koi Kogare respectively, and are both excellent additions to the series. Voiced cast all return from previous seasons. Kira Buckland (Mitsuri) and Griffin Burns (Muichirou) are predictably excellent! Zeno Robinson (Genya) was likely my favourite this time around - I can't imagine recording those lines. (9/10)

Overall: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc was still a strong season, but I can't help but be slightly disappointed in the series pacing issues that stuck out more than usual. This series is far too strong to keep that up and I can't wait for the next season - Hashira Training Arc - when it comes out next year! (8/10)

I would like to write a review of the currently airing "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" Swordsmiths Village arc. Although only three episodes have aired so far, I can already tell that this arc has the potential to be one of the best in the series.

One of the most exciting aspects of the Swordsmiths Village arc is the team-up between the characters Mitsuri, Tanjiro, and Tokito. It's would great to see these three skilled demon slayers working together to take on the Upper Moons, especially the upcoming fight with Kukushibō. Additionally, the animation in this arc is as stunning as ever, and the attention to ... detail in the character designs and backgrounds is impressive.

While there may be some minor flaws in the arc that could potentially arise as the arc continues, such as pacing issues or underdeveloped plot points, I believe that the strengths of the show far outweigh any weaknesses.

It's worth noting, however, that fans of the series may be disappointed to learn that the studio producing "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba", Ufotable, is taking a long time to produce only 11 episodes for this season. However, I believe that the quality of the animation and the storytelling more than justifies the wait.

With the promise of epic battles, engaging characters, and stunning animation, I am confident that this show will continue to be a hit with audiences. While not a bad season by any means, this is the weakest one so far. Despite upping the ante significantly in terms of opponents’ power, this didn’t feel like the triumph of the previous seasons. Daki and Gyutaro had their issues as villains, but they felt relatable in the end and played off of each other strongly in places. I can’t say the same for Upper Moon 4 and 5, the latter of whom had a cool design and little else (obsession with art and being the best is pretty weak and we never see his background), while the former had some very strong fight ... dynamics… but little else, even with the snippet of background we got on him. The fight against 5 was just not very interesting, while the fight against 4 was gripping and kept my attention.

That makes the season a mixed bag. I liked both of the Hashira, but discontinuously, and particularly for Tokutou, his background was more interesting than his present. Kanroji is just fun to watch and experience, but doesn’t get enough screen presence in this until near the very end, and then doesn’t finish strong. The first and final episodes have some absolutely incredible animation, and the rest of the season looks great, albeit lacking in the hype of the other arcs. So much of this is a great experience, but that’s balanced out by stuff that just isn’t as interesting or investing. This is a series that thrives on connections to its characters and while it does decently this season, on that metric, it’s fallen behind. Still an enjoyable watch (good to see Genya back in the mix), but it’s missed a step.

After watching the last season of Demon Slayer, my expectations were very high for this season, but they were not met.

First we didn't see either Inosuke or Zenitsu, everything with them gets more fun, but I understand and don't think it's such a big problem.

I feel that the fight with both Upper Moons could have been a little longer. Upper Moon 5 was very disappointing, I know Tokito is a stronger Hashira than Uzui but still... to defeat Upper Moon 6, Uzui along with the other hunters took the whole season, it was a bloody battle that ended with the whole city destroyed, and ... in this season's battle... well I don't want to give too many spoilers but that's it.

I also thought that Mitsuri should get a little more Screen Time, she basically only appeared for real in episode 10.

Even though the entire review was criticizing this season, it was nowhere near bad. Ufotable doing as always a great job and the last episode was perfect too.


In short, it's a good season, for those who have seen the last two I recommend watching this one as well, although I think the second season was superior in everything.

I understand a lot of people tend to have negative views on the newer demon slayer seasons, and how they “fell off” or “it’s boring”. I honestly don’t agree with these critics and would have to go with my own opinion saying demon slayer keeps getting better and better. This may be due to the fact that I haven’t read the manga(started it) or maybe because I haven’t watched enough anime?(Ive seen over 100 animes)But for sure, I can say demon slayer is one of my top 3. Something about how this show can make me feel emotions I never thought I would feel, and ... the utter motivation and happiness this show brings to me is astonishing. I would recommend demon slayer highly, you may like it or you may not. At the very least, I’d say it’s worth giving the show a chance.
