Gekijou Tanpen Macross Frontier: Toki no Meikyuu

This is a pretty fantastic short story and musical that details a little bit about what happens to Ranka Lee after the end of the "Sayonara no Tsubasa Movie".

This is practically a music video with probably 90% of the run time being in the form of 2 songs, a very very well made songs at that. Honestly I'm tempted to give this a 9/10 for what it is. It's perhaps one of the best "performances" that macross has to offer.

Some may find this a bit distasteful with is how it sort of answers some questions that the aforementioned movie left open to interpretation. ... However as a long time fan of macros F I was just delighted to see such a high quality product still be made in a time where Macross as a franchise seems to have been put to rest.

But for what it is, this is definitely very good. I would highly recommend watching this.

This short OAV acts as an epilogue to the movie continuity. It won't make sense if you have only watched the TV series. Primarily an extended musical number, it sets the expectation that it will tie up the one loose thread left at the end of Wings of Farewell, but it ends on a frustratingly inconclusive note. While it does enough to hint how things will play out, that was probably cold comfort for viewers who had a ten-year wait between the movie and this OAV. It ends up being a flashy piece of eye candy with one last reminder about the importance of cultivating ... healthy gut bacteria.
