This is a pretty fantastic short story and musical that details a little bit about what happens to Ranka Lee after the end of the "Sayonara no Tsubasa Movie".

This is practically a music video with probably 90% of the run time being in the form of 2 songs, a very very well made songs at that. Honestly I'm tempted to give this a 9/10 for what it is. It's perhaps one of the best "performances" that macross has to offer.

Some may find this a bit distasteful with is how it sort of answers some questions that the aforementioned movie left open to interpretation. ... However as a long time fan of macros F I was just delighted to see such a high quality product still be made in a time where Macross as a franchise seems to have been put to rest.

But for what it is, this is definitely very good. I would highly recommend watching this.

This is a good movie, not a great one. But with that said, it is still an interesting movie. It has hints at interesting themes, and it's plot is moving at 100 miles per hour.

I mainly went to see this movie because I thought the musical content would make it entertaining enough (which it was); however I am a little disappointed in how much of a mess and inconsistent the actual incorporation of the music and choreography end up being. This doesn't hold a candle to something like Macross F or Love Live with regards to actually showing you someone singing on a stage. There ... is pretty much just poorly composited 3d animation, and jump cuts from poses to poses. For what it is trying to do with it's musical numbers, it is incredibly mediocre which is a shame since the songs are fantastic and a one piece movie should in theory be able to pull the best talent in the industry.

If you were interested in watching this movie for it's musical content, I'd recommend just watching the second macross F movie, "wings of goodbye" instead.

Kimi to, Nami ni Noreta Rambles.

If this film fails at only 1 thing, it is the inability to establish conflict within it's narrative. The film quickly introduces and resolves conflicts at a rapid pace, never lingering long enough to explore how or why any of these conflicts might be meaningful. Which in itself may not be such a large problem, but it is because the conflicts themselves irrationally justified within the narrative, that the film fails to convey it's themes in a graceful manner.

That being said, while science Saru are not fantastic animators, they are fantastic digital artists. This film is absolutely captivates the eye. ... There is an abundance of visual creativity in the film, and while the second to last scene of the film has terrible narrative justification, it certainly has a visually justification. The character designs, color scheme, and general visual 'design' are something anyone will be able to appreciate.

This movie might be worth watching just for the visuals; or perhaps it's something you can watch with your significant other (as that is certainly this movies target demographic). But if you are looking for something that might make you reconsider something, or explore an aspect of human relationships, or really make any statement on anything, this ain't it chief.

An excellent show that few will remember, for there is little reason to do so.

Noein tries to express the idea that individuals truly have the ability to influence their own future, and does this whilst playing with the ideas of how our perspective on life influence how we live. I feel as if the creators tried to express something more specific than that, but the writing in the show is often to messy and illogical for a viewer to feel confident in it containing any deeper message.

The show's fiction is heavily based on ... a once popular incorrect interpretation of the double slit experiment (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double-slit_experiment). That interpretation asserted that it was human sight that changed the outcome of the experiment. This show takes this idea and runs with it, often tripping and scraping it's knees. The main character Haruka is able to change 'reality' in a sense, as what she is able to 'recognize' as reality becomes reality.

And of course along with quantum mechanics, this show also tries to include a infinite amount of alternative dimensions, and time travel. I think you can begin to understand why this story has trouble telling a completely consistent and logical story.

Ignoring the plot holes, the idea of utilizing multiple dimensions and time travel is a very unique and compelling way to demonstrate to the characters how their actions affect others, and allow them to come to understanding of what it is that they want in their futures. If nothing else this method of telling a story is very unique.

I would also be doing a disservice if I didn't mention the quality of the animation and art direction, as It is easily the strongest part of the show. Specifically, it manages to stand out artistically because of its' constant use of creative perspectives, there are very few flat and boring angles in the ENTIRE show. That is something I think should be applauded. I also enjoy that the art style changes at times to allow for more fluid animation and to accent important action scenes and emotional moments. It also features some very high quality CG models which might scare off some, but personally I think these CG models are better than almost any other show that wasn't made by studio Orange (creators of Houseki no Kuni). Check the links for some examples. Just in terms of animation and art design I think this show is in the top 2% of all T.V anime. That being said there are still 2 or 3 episodes that feel a bit rushed and are not as good looking or as well animated as others.

The music is also quite good, not great, but it is good. Much of instrumentation isn't anything particularly special, but it does come together to express emotions fairly powerfully. This is mainly achieved by focusing on a dynamic sound, fluctuating between booming choirs with forceful percussive hits, and sparse quieter moments. Perhaps the biggest issue with the sound track there isn't enough songs in the OST to really cover the whole show, so sometimes the songs are used in a way that doesn't fit the scene as well as another could have.

To conclude, overall this show was great. It had some almost peerless animation sequences, a good soundtrack and hints of a fantastic story. However I think most people are going to walk away feeling like the writers really didn't know how to utilize the science fiction elements properly to convey a meaningful story. That being said, nothing is really quite like Noein, with the absolute crazy science fiction setting, there is no way your going to predict what is going to happen. This show doesn't follow tropes and if your looking for something different that isn't your standard 'anime' this is definitely it, just don't go into this show hoping to find a underrated classic.
