Idolls!

After the first episode of 'Idolls!', I honestly thought this was going to be terrible. But after getting used to the style, its actually a cute short series. Compared to other anime that made the Music genre in anime very unappealing to me (Actors Songs Connection), this was actually a relaxing watch inbetween darker anime.

Its a simple story about a group of four amateurs trying to become idols and giving it their mediocre all in doing so. They work hard, its just given what this anime has shown they could definitely work harder (advertise better as well), but they're still learning the steps. ... The anime portrays them finding their footing a bit in that area, though I wish they had done more to do so tbh.

There's nothing epic about it, it won't appeal to most, and the music is forgettable. But if your looking for a short series with stupidly cute gags and little else then try this one out! Its good for a buffer between dark, sad, and/or soul crushing anime. <3

After doing a bit of research on this series, I'm honestly okay with this show. According to Anime News Network, this series has the voice actors wearing motion capture tech and performing live. They're planning to take this idea and turn it into a VTuber Live Performance show for platforms like Youtube.

With that in mind, I don't mind this show. The idea of four idol girls working hard to get 100 people in their audience is not an original idea. Given the production mindset though, they're practicing this new idea and probably wanted to start with a simple idea just to see if this could ... work. Overall, this is another basic "Let's be the best idols ever" show, but the bigger idea behind it is what intrigues me. It makes me wonder what else they'll produce with this technology and possibly in front of a live audience! Can you imagine anime VA's in Motion Tech gear while performing actual Anime episodes to an audience? That's honestly a pretty interesting idea and I look forward to see more from this studio.

The best character in this anime is the totem.

Ten episodes were enough to make this anime completely rubbish.
Honestly, I did not expect much from "Idolls!", Only that it would have common elements and that I would not disconnect from your proposal. However, although it really did happen, it wasn't quite what I wanted. First, it must be said... The combination of CG, music, history and characters is tragic. Very tragic. Offensive. It is not legal, it does not introduce interesting elements and it does not manage to have the minimum of identity. I would not like to compare it with Love Live and Bang Dream, ... but these are infinitely better, have greater competence from the producers and convey some relevance of their own.

From the opening episodes, I had some hope, after all, I was able to laugh at the bizarre that it was. Even though it had a deep decay, it was an anime that I managed to laugh at. However, from the moment they introduced absolutely ridiculous things, I was unable to save the show. WHO IS GOING TO MAKE A SHOW HIT AN EGGPLANT IN THE FACE OF THE OTHER FRIEND? WHO WILL SING A MUSIC AS OFFENSIVE AS THE CHARACTER OF CHARACTERS? Honestly, this show is just shit. Rubbish that shouldn't exist. It is not as if it could not be better than it really was, since the beginning is pleasant, even with the problems, but I cannot tolerate the very attempt and goal of being garbage. It seems that the producers of this show wanted to make this anime on purpose, just to remember that there are such horrible works in video media productions.

Definitely, my lost time will not be rewarded. At least he has a totem pole, he is the best character in this rot.

This anime makes me think if writing a review for it is even worth it. It doesn't even feel like anime; it feels like a failed comedy gag that lasts for 5 mins.

Thank god each episode is only 5 mins long, with the OP&ED taking up the other 3 minutes.

Story (2) & Character (3):
If you're wondering, there is marginally a story. Four somewhat newbie idols are trying to fill a concert hall of 100 audiences in 10 days, with each episode describing a different part of their idol daily lives.
Annnnnnnd that's it. There's no build-up, no drama. The jokes fall flat and they're not really ... that funny. For episodes this short it's hard to develop characters to the extent that is satisfactory.
The best character is probably not even the main characters themselves. It's a freakin' talking totem. The totem moves the "story" forward by narration. You know that something is wrong if you need a narrator to make things move along in an idol anime.

Art (5):
It's not bad but you can tell the producers didn't get much in terms of budget.
*The 3D character models and background looks like they have been made with Live2D Cubism.
*Each episode re-uses probably 80% of the same assets as the previous episode.
*Each episode pretty much has one main background and the characters move inside them. There's barely any camera perspective changes. Even if there is, it's the same angles.

Sound (7): The only, and I mean the only, good thing about this anime is the background music and its OP&ED. OST fits every situation well, which I guess is the only thing that matters since the genre is music.

Enjoyment (3):
I was working on something else while watching and I was able to be productive. It tells you just how "background noise" this anime is.

Overall (3):
If you have roughly 80 minutes to spare in your day where you just want some background noise, this is perfect for you.
Honestly, I feel bad for the VAs. As far as I can tell, this anime is a reflection of their real world situation: they are not popular and they barely get noticed.
